The eq list has long been a staple of slothmud and the version put together by Fluffy has proven invaluable to many a new and experienced player alike.

Thanks for the hard work Fluffy, Breeze and others who worked on parts of this to make it possible.

Fluffy can no longer host the site so it has been move to a new server but the same address (eq.slothmud.org) - all the functionality of should be duplicated 1:1 on the new site but if you notice anything isn’t behaving quite the way it used to reply to this thread.

Some minor changes:

styling on ac sort (default) was fixed
additional filtering to exclude Marclair trades from results
continents now show for listed forge mobs

Hey all there.

For some accident reasons slothmudeq.tk wasnt free for me for last year or two.

It wasnt problem till that winter, but now i cant make a payment for it due to some obvious reasons.

So i had to register another free domain - slothmudeq.ml.

Which is gonna be new main one for that eq site.

Change your bookmarks, links and so on.

Slothmudeq.tk will work up to 2020-05-19. After that only slothmudeq.ml will be on.

Map submission email addresses don't work

Hi.

I tried to submit a map update for consideration to wiki@slothmud.org and slothwiki@slothmud.org but it failed with a routing error.

@ Neptune’s suggestion I tried to submit to wiki@slothmud.com and slothwiki@slothmud.com but received an NDR indicating no such users exist.

Both this page http://www.slothmud.org/wp/the-world-of-slothmud and this page http://wiki.slothmud.com/wiki/Map_Submissions should probably be updated with a correct address.

things beyond my control, but @slothmud.com do.

Do we have any control over the slothmud.com site? Currently I’m seeing the following:

A redirect to slothmud.org seems like it might be good. No idea how often someone might stumble across it, but I did today!

Redirecting via meta refresh is generally discouraged in favor of a server side redirect, but it still works:

If we want to get fancy, a server side redirect could include the 301 code for ‘moved permanently’ which has some impact on SEO.

not everything works but the maps are accessible, ( http://www.slothmud.org/wiki/ )

forum is working and most of the live pages work.

player stats is hosed - need to see which database on old webhost stuff is reading from

wiki is hosed - needs php 5.5.9+ to work properly otherwise it doesn’t work right. (working on it)

done messing with this for now.

i have got a very long week ahead and its relax time…

CVS logs

Spent the day reworking the CVS logs.

We realize that we have had some stability issues the last couple of weeks and everyone wonders why.

I figured it would be a good idea to bring back the live cvs logs and spend the night regenerating lost logs.

Hopefully, the last 3 years of entries are now available, happy hunting.

There has been a tremendous amount of work done lately, mostly by Teker. We are now able to buy and connect our own vaults/rooms, and builders are now able to replace the old TrigTrap system with custom room KVPS which are unique to SlothMUD. MUDL has also taken another step forward. Too many changes to actually list.

Please browse the last few years of logs.

this page is updated dynamically (that is, if you have set your wwwpass inside the mud, you can log into the website and go here and it will show you your completed quests)

side note:

if you log into the website you can ::

bookmark pages (link at bottom of each page)

see your current auctions on the live auctions page

etc

This is an awesome addition, one of the best in a very long time. Being able to glance and see exactly what you still need is priceless.

If you guys have not created a www login( not the forum but webpage login) , you are really missing out.

Players can now log into the website here at http://www.slothmud.org using their in-game character name and the password they have set for this login using the newly created wwwpass command.

Please remember, the website has one login, and the forum has a totally separate login( Confusing, yes!). The websites login is your character name and the password you set inside of Sloth. Your forum login is whatever name you created and the password you gave to that a long time ago.

***** Upon the initial setting of a password using wwwpass command, the player needs to log out of sloth and back into sloth for the password to take affect on the website *****

Custom Menus added to your login block => click ‘Add to Menu | Remove from Menu’ at the bottom of most pages to add them to a custom menu

However, we have some great ideas and plans to extend this ability in the future to include things such as avatars, finished quests, character description, etc, etc.

I received a few messages from people saying that a few others don’t like the eqlist.

My reply is simple.

The new interface should make it easier to find things.

The filters are searchacle (top box on top)

And you can even use partial keywords to search.

As I get time I plan on adding more filters as per a few suggestions I received.

If you still don’t like it, download the full eqlist file.

It has everything in there and it gets updated weekly. Everything is fully cross referenced and you can do whatever you like with it.

I can’t make everyone happy and I refuse to try.

Maps are on the wiki as before

Live info is there as before

Its not really that different.

There is a new forum style available. If you are still using the purple dark fantasy style you may go into UCP(user control panel), board preferences, and try out the Guild style.

Mudlet forums added, Clients added to navbar

We have added a mudlet forum to our clients section.

We have also added a Client section in our navbar which mostly centers on the addition of MSDP or ATCP to our game.

Mudlet is the most actively developed client in today’s MUD world and many of our players are moving towards it. Please help the transition by posting examples of your scripts.

Scripting is incredibly different for the majority of our players whom use Wintin.NET. An example of this is a grouptell alias:

pattern: ^gt (.*)$

send(“grouptell " .. matches[2])

So what you may feel is the simplest of scripts and does not need to be posted, can actually help quite a few of us!

 (click the date on the WebCVS menu items)

The Dynamic World Map has been skinned to match the rest of the website.

The EQ List and Maproom are in the process of being redone also. (read as, if you see something weird in the maproom its probably because I am working on it.

I am glad they are being updated, however i have a small request.

Previously, the gwhere trigger for zmud would show a players location perfectly, however now it seems to show

Don’t Like It. It’s harder to Vote, not at the front page were everyone can

see it. And different feel :p

The voting block is going to be eliminated rather soon. TMC is changing their voting system sometime in the next few weeks, once they do we will relocate the voting option…

Also, we are aware that the live information has not been moved over yet. You can expect this to occur sometime in the next week.

The most important thing was to get most of the website moved over to this location in hopes of solving some of our game lag and before we were required to move it off of our current location. You can expect more design changes as things settle down.

We are potentially going to be updating the website by doing some changes with where content is available.

Some of the proposed changes include moving most of the frequently updated content off of the homepage (in order to make it much less busy). We can make the frequently updated content available several ways but want to know some of your preferences for looking at this site.

Would a “dashboard” view still be of value to people who use the site frequently? By dashboard, I mean a single page that has lead in to most recent posting, open auctions, top 20 information, most recent news, maybe who’s online and/or the dynamic map. Perhaps we could even make it user configureable if there is enough desire.

Feel free to respond with comments and/or suggestions of what you would like on this page.

Or would it be better just to have things like auctions on their own pages and not worry about combining them with other content?

Class Abilities Updated

The Class Abilities section of website has been updated to include all new spells/skills/songs known to the mortal realm, including where they can be found.

The pop locations are a few of the ones provided by submitted pop locations on the eqlist and may or may not be all of the possible pop locations.

Comments field added to eqlist

The eqlist now has a ‘comments’ field for each eq type. To add a comment to an existing item, email it to Blackmore. To add a comment to a new item, it’s just a field in the submission form.

To view comments, click on the ‘comments’ link under the name of the item in the results table of the eqlist. Only those items that actually have comments will have this link.

Jake noticed that the old site had a ‘quick reference’ map room that will still being used a lot… so I developed a new one to take advantage of all the areas currently in-game. It’s driven off the eq list, so everything should be in there if maps have been submitted.

"Last Five Maps Added" feature

Dan suggested this feature, so I’ve gone & added it.

I had to add a datestamp field to the database to handle it, so it’ll be a bit inaccurate until five more maps have been added. From that point forward, clicking the “Last Five Maps Added” link on the maproom’s main page (the one that lists the continents) will give a table containing links & bare-bones descriptions of the last five maps added.

..oh ok you can find it under categories if you know which eq type it was listed under.. maybe there could be a ‘recently closed’ list as well displaying the last 7 days of closed auctions?

I hope some sort of notice is set up for auctions on the chopping block, because right now, we can see recent posts, but in order to find out anything about the chopping block, you have to actively go look for it. I just don’t see it being as useful as it can become if you have to look for it, when the auction page and crier are pushed to your home screen.

I’m mostly concerned that people won’t even realize it’s there.

New trivia system added

A new trivia system was added with the intentions of having sloth trivia contests. You should see the block for the new system on the right side just under the voting both on the home page.

Rules for trivia contests when there are prizes:

You can not win more then twice in a row, and then must sit out for 3 times.

All trivia worth drachma will be rewarded 1 point per question. So if there is 10 total questions, 10 drachma will be available.

If there are more then one persons with the same score, the total prize will be split between each person. Ie. Sarge and Blackmore have top place in a 15 question trivia contest, the total drachma available would be 15 drachma. Each person, Sarge and Blackmore would receive 8 drachma. We will round it up to an even number to make the split as fair for all winners as possible.

We reserve the right to add new rules as we see fit.
