Mob Engagement Message

·356 words·2 mins

I’m jumping on the bandwagon and posting a small mud suggestion.

I’d like a message when a mob in the room joins the fight similar to the “Sees you and attacks!” message that occurs when mob attacks you from an adjacent room.

For example lets say you walk into a room with 4 firenewt guards. You attack the first one and the fight starts to scroll. Then when each one jumps in you just see a lone attack such as

A firenewt guard misses you with his pierce.

A firenewt guard tickles you with his pierce.

This message just gets lost in the spam, and so it’s not real clear that another opponent has entered the fight and it’s not very easy to see how many opponents have jump in or who you’re fighting exactly.

Instead I’d prefer something like:

A firenewt guard joins the fray! (bright white)

A firenewt guard misses you with his pierce.

A firenewt guard joins the fray!

A firenewt guard tickles you with his pierce.

This would help me visualize the scene and what is happening a little better and improve the experience.

“* sees you and attacks!”

“* growls at you and attacks!”

Those?

Yes, like those. There is currently no message when you are fighting one aggro and another one in the same room attacks you.

If you were fighting a firenewt guard and another attacked you. You just see something like:

“A firenewt guard hits you very hard.

A firenewt guard misses you with his hit.

You hit a firenewt guard very hard.

A firenewt guard misses you with his hit.”

Whereas I suggest it should be something like:

“A firenewt guard hits you very hard.

A firenewt guard misses you with his hit.

You hit a firenewt guard very hard.

A firenewt guard joins the fray!

A firenewt guard misses you with his hit.”

I think I agree, it would be better your way, but urgency of this fix is debatable. It always was and noone complained until now, also the join-fight message is encased in two \n’s , so we can say it stands out trollface
