That’s me trying to recite a scroll of recall while deathgripping. This killed
me on a mob in the shadowkeep previously and I just wanted to make sure
I had it right before I started complaining. I’d like to ask who added this,
and why it was added. Could someone please explain it to me ?
Isn’t changes like this why the news ticker was put in? Seems to me that a change that affects the way that a classes main skill works should be posted at least.. not lets just let them find out the hard way. I have been receiving tells asking me why I’m pissed at the mud well here is a great example that doesn’t even affect me.. it’s just the fact that some imms have no respect for the players as people to them the players are just a structure sitting on the machine.

I beleive this wasn’t a change. When I made Fable, this had happen in the
past. You can’t flee either when gripping. So I guess u can’t read scrolls,
because in theory, ur arms r around the person’s neck and u can’t read
with their head blocking the view of the scroll.
Thanks for taking the opposite side Leaf, much obliged. Grappling
has been changed several times in the past.
Is there an ‘ungrip’ or ‘cease grip’ or ‘yo, let go of the dude’s neck!’ command? If not, perhaps there should be… that would solve this issue wouldn’t it? ..guess it would be something like the disengage skill …or maybe that was the point of not being able to let go and recite recall, because deathgrip is powerful (this isn’t a statement of fact, I’m just guessing here.. I don’t play this class). Of course there’s the cough realism factor too.. your hands are too busy to recite a recall when you’re strangling someone while holding a light in the air, some other object low, a shield and a weapon… heh
I think we need to stay away from the realism factor here while we keep
shields and swords and breastplates in out backpacks and bags. I just
find myself getting really frustrated with the ineptitude of part of the
immortal staff more and more. I love Sloth and have made some really
good friends here, but DAMN!

Heh, no big difference imho - in regular situation a person wields sword\dagger and shield in his/her hands, but that doesnt prevent recite recall :)
With bare hands it must be much faster and easier
Love u too Aa :P
However I was stating a fact that I noticed when I started Fable. Soooooo
I was just listing nothing was changed from what I can tell.
Maybe 3-4 months ago, maybe more, I added recite and a couple of other commands to the list of stuff you can’t do while grappling. It seems that the problem with deathgrip is not that you should be able to recite while grappling, it’s that if you’re the one who started the grapple then you should be able to automatically drop it to recite recall. So, what’s a good solution? Auto-drop-grapple on recite / use? Can people manage not to accidentally use stuff when they are deathgripping?
I’m not sure what you’re asking.
If I’m sleeping and I try to eat, it tells me I can’t do that while sleeping. So I wake up and eat.
If I’m hiding and I type anything I stop hiding.
If I’m singing and I cast a spell, I automatically stop singing. Or I can ‘sing stop’ and I stop.
With grip, how do I stop? I can’t ungrip and I can’t recall, so I’m just going to die. Are you asking what the best way to let go would be?
More or less. It sounds like what is needed is an ungrip command.
Ok this is so that it doesn’t continue to say you are grappling when
you recall? I’m not a coder, and also not sure how the grappling rules
work..surely it checks to make sure grappl-er and grappl-ee are in the
same room? And if not it could kill the grapple, i.e. you release your grip
on $N. Maybe, I’m not sure if that’s the right way but I will be more than
happy to work with you on it. Thanks for taking the time to reply Kj.
lets make it fun, add a 10 second delay to the grip release command. i’m being sarcastic btw :)
Ok, it’s incor. The command is ‘release’. It may also cause pit fiends to release their whip grapple, if you order them to do it (I haven’t tried this). Jake thinks that this command will almost never be used.

Thanks a lot KJ. Even if it isn’t used at all, it’s very cool not to be
100% committed to a grip if it goes wrong. Sometimes your sanc will fall
or who knows what, and you don’t want to finish grip. This will be very helpful.
