I’ve heard senior players talk about the “arena” and how they go in there with other players and test things. Somehow they calculate roughly how much damage there attacks are doing to mobs.
I had thought this “arena” was the coliseum, but this leads me to some facts that I don’t understand…
The coliseum is solo, only one person can pull the chain at a time
How do you know the hit points of the mob you are fighting?
Might I add you get a random mob as well…
I’ve also heard that at the “arena” you can duel players… but once again, how does the second player enter the arena?
So I’m totally confused… Hopefully such a place does exist on the MUD somewhere I don’t know about… and if it doesn’t…
How about adding a further guantlet where player can fight player in exactly the same conditions as those at the coliseum… ie, auto-raise at the end of combat. A ways of practising our tourney skills as it were… without waiting a year.

There’s an arena (not coliseum) north of Bal Harbor with a mob (questmaster) that will raise you if you die. It’s a chaos zone, which means you can freely engage / stab / blast other players in there even if they are not wanted criminals.
There’s another arena on SS, much larger.

Very interesting! Blastem said he was fighting in regen… I hope for his sake he was! In one round he hit me with 3 pierces for 12hp damage! With bloodrage you can
just about regen that! For all you tourney people out there, you can learn quite a bit from this. (As I did, this being my first player fight) Notice how I fell
apart when he dispelled me? I lost my quicken, my stone skin and my sanct. Frostbolt damage went from 59hp too around 200hp. So what I’d learn from this at the
tourney is… you are as good as your eq… You can tank up as much as you want, but if the person who is fighting you debuff’s you with a dispel and a curse/weaken
- your in major trouble! Eq spell effects resist fire/resist cold a must for fighting player casters. Be prepared to get your stone skin back up! (Don’t rely on
spells for a dex point either!)

In my opinion, you missed the point. Earlier you mentioned that his three attacks did 12 damage. At that rate, who cares if your AC is -11 or -8 or 3.0. The point to the arena is keeping your sanc up and not getting webbed. You can prevent the dispels from hitting your sanc (and other spells) by using a little bit of spell shield. The dispel will hit your spell shields first, and only after multiple dispels will your shield drop and your buffs get targetted. At the same time, you should be striking or blasting to drag him into the fight to prevent him from getting a chance to cast multiple dispels.
It’s good to see you had fun, player vs player isn’t my favorite activity but it can be quite a blast once in awhile.

Actually the stun did seem to lag me for a 1/2 second or so nothing major.

This I disagree with I have time and again watched people with lessor eq beat out stacked chars. There are a few reasons for this as I see them:
#1 PvP experience (people have or do play in pk muds)
#2 Keep moving.. in PvP he who stands still dies it makes you an easier target for a stab or dispell.
#3 remember to use all of the skills / spells in your arsenal there are some very low level skills that are extremely nice in PvP I’ll mention bash here.
#4 Fast reactions if you can hit your opponent before he can hit you with a prime attack or non combat spell it will greatly increase your odds.
#5 Remember some things work different PvP than fighting mobs such as being able to stab/grip a wounded person.

Hmm, forgot about spell shield… also I see what Blastem is saying about trip and bash, as it about the only way to have much luck with the maimed elf, they can’t do to much when knocked off there feet!
I never considered you could change rooms either… nor grip or stab a wounded person! I’ve always thought caster’s are more powerful than choppers, but in the player vs player world, it would seem it does come down almost totally to the skill of the player. I guess this is why there is the twin challenge.
I’d be interested to fight a few more people, and try and fight back properly. A necro with a juju would be interesting.
