"Weekly" items

·1518 words·8 mins

What exactly is a “weekly” item, and does it have any kind of limitations?

I was under the impression that it was an item that was made with a special forge that was only available for 1 week. Is this accurate?

That’s pretty much it. They were ultra limited time forges for equipment that is head and shoulders above anything else in the game. Which basically means that unless you already have it, its nearly impossible to get.

Most weekly items are currently owned by the drachma eq anyways, so you’re not missing much ;)

I think you are wrong Hotara :)

-1.4 weekly helm

+dam weekly th guards

-1.7 +15hp +2hpregen weekly wa greaves

+20spelldamage +15mana weekly sash

+12mana weekly high/low clasp

Even for drachmas you cant buy better items.

Thouh some of weeklies became almost worthless nowadays and have

similar or even better regular ingame analogues.

Sure, some of the prime only weekly quest eq are nice, but what about the mage primes?

Needless to say, most of the weeklies can already be replaced by in-game drachma eq. Sure there are those 4, but beyond that?

Cheers.

Shhhh….

Do we really want to remember a story with mage prime weekly ?

In fact we had not so many weekly forges :(

I named the weekly items what are better than elite items.

wa th cl prime items, -1.4 helm, sash of master magi, 12mana clasp,

-.4 +mr rings.

Others weeklies has been beaten by ingame ( and by elite ) items.

I know imms wont run weekly for well known reasons, but,

honestly, last weekly with random cps (12mana clasp) was fun

and fair. I hope someday we could have something similar that.

I like the random forges, flawed gem and glass eye. Perhaps a weekly could have random pops and that takes away from the cycling problems.

Mike

Nod, weeklies are fun, anybody still remember calling 6.astane? :)

edit: Typo on mob!

I like Mike’s idea a lot, that’s great. Someone, please take note and help!

If not temporary reruns of some old shit, can we please get some new stuff?

!!!13

I agree with Mike’s idea also.

Kill stuff and good luck on the random pop.

Perhaps make autos for primes that only the prime can build and use. If a warrior tries to build the mage prime weekly it wont forge etc.

I like the concept of weekly forges but to date have 0. Its not worth the headache and fighting normally associated with them. Rather drink a beer and watch the NFL.

Yeah, I think with the amount of issues the weeklies caused in the past with people sitting on mobs for days (which would probably be worse now with the relatively recent resurgence of clans), and others stealing repops under other’s noses etc, it was decided a while back they just weren’t worth the disruption they caused to the harmony of the mud. In fact I believe it was in part because of the crap that went down in some of these weeklies that quests and drachma and spirit watchers came about.

Yup some of the weeklies were awesome bits of eq, but waiting in a line for 8 hours to start cycling a mob just to find the person before you decides one of his/her mates who just logged on deserves to run it more than you do can be VERY frustrating, leading to all sorts of buggery and mayhem, anger, blood, tears and even death - a feeling that can last well beyond the duration of the weekly.

We have placed several things in game that are a bit less controversial than the weekly forges.

We have, as mentioned, the drachma shops.

We have quest items zoned to single pop on a VERY rare basis in some places.

We have added epic mobs, to which we will slowly be making some eq additions.

I seriously doubt that we will ever bring back the weekly forges as they were originall run, but perhaps we’ll bring back some of the eq stats in some of the above or other to be determined forms. The random pops to complete forges idea is certainly up for inclusion.

What do you mean by ‘quest item zoned to single pop..etc’

Quest item can pop on any mob randomly?

There’s rumors that the new and improved demogorgon pops something besides the gimlet now. The thing dies more times than anyone can count and no one’s seen it. I think I’ve heard rumors of other mobs that were similiarly changed. Wouldn’t suprise me if something epic eventually popped off him.

I wonder how we could get info about those zoned quest items if Clink didn’t give out some imm info?

P.S. > Weekly for Weaks

Arent we all remember imms already run ‘weekly’ forge with random cps ?

It is not a new idea, but still the brightest one to run time-limited forges

without disrupting harmony of sloth. :P

We all forged flawed gems, but remember - the first forges gave us the perfect gems. It was not a classic time limited forge, but amount limited, but we had like five days until reached the limit of perfect gems imms

had set.

I meant to be somewhat opaque, but was apparently too much. Quest items can be found on specific mobs. They are very rare, but not random. I believe some of them have already been found, but your friends haven’t done much advertising.

bwahaha.. they either thought it was a looted item and decided to keep quiet about it.. or keep quiet about it until they’ve popped a heap more items before the mob becomes public knowledge.

For sure been popped? What is the item, I don’t understand all the

cloak and dagger shit. Someone needs to fess the fck up.

Several months ago, Splork announced that he had zoned numerous pieces of out-of-game eq to each pop once on a particular mob. That is, after the item loads on its assigned mob, it will never load again. Fairly soon, some folks popped a belt of swiftness off Ko’yre’em Yusitel. Any other yields from this program haven’t received public disclosure that I’ve seen.

thanks atwell

I know of a couple of those evil eye necklaces that were found.

Basically, I believe it was Demo, the Forest Guardian, Merman, the Krakken,

Satan(?) and I guess that guy from Kara’sa? So can we figure out here who

has loaded what and who will continue to be worthless to cycle?

None of those mobs are ringing any bells with me.

I popped one of the items in Tarot off the Emperor. They were .6ac +dam sleeves. I’m fairly certain they were a weekly, but I don’t remember too many details on them. I believe someone else popped something off a mob that was added with the dinos on the island when a book was put in - I don’t remember the mob or what book was on it. I think what he got was a weekly that got placed as well. These were both on the list of items that will only ever load once. I’ve cycled other mobs to look for more stuff, but I don’t cycle often or know what to cycle, so it’s not surprising I haven’t found any more, especially considering the pop rate I would expect them to have.

excellent, keep ’em coming :)
