Thoughts for New Cleric Stuff

·1363 words·7 mins

During Blasters quest today, I found myself yet again as a Cleric Prime religated down to Raise Duty. I rarely had any mana. The Druids in the group on the other hand, constantly had mana from out short regens.

My thought, If the Cleric Prime is suppose to be a “group type support character”, why not give them a bonus in groups. Similar to warcry except the effect would be to Mana Regen. As the group size increases, so would the mana regen. Of course jsut being grouped would not work for this alone or it would be abused. The more healing spells are cast over a period of time, the greater the bonus.

If something like this were added, maybe the Cleric Prime would be the preferred healer in the groups again.

Thoughts?

Try a valkyrie.

quite a good suggestion actually…warcry giving different bonuses depending on your prime class :)

I’d like to know who was ahead of you in the healo…Character names pls.

healo bottom up. shyla wasnt in and daedalus had to leave before real action. Due to levels max was in the “float/blast” position.

Thats pretty much what I figured Minstrel…

Where are all the druid primes that are healing before cleric primes?

Splork

Sorry, I wasn’t online for that quest.

And if you had mage in your class order, chances are you would of been in the blasto. Maybe the problem lies in the fact you are not shifting…

Although its quite nice to have options…

Maybe druid regen is still too high…

I fail to see how this makes them superior to clerics when it comes to healo? Besides having quicker mana at their disposal, I say again, I’d rather let a cleric prime handle heals so I can use my mana for other stuff.. I admit not many druids play the ‘shifter’ role but I’m sure many would agree they’d like to use their mana as they see fit instead of being designated prime Healo.I feel a nerfing to the druid class coming but thats not a big deal.. I’ve played monk and necro before those were nerfed so I’m used to it. However, whether regen rates for druid happens or not, I think the primary issue is that

clerics should be allowed to be clerics and not backup healo’s/blasters. When the mage spells got beefed up a month or so ago, no one seemed to complain.. is it that hard to do the same for cleric spells as well?

Once again… don’t smoke and post.. it might seem scattered

I doubt druid regen rates are nerfed. The bonus only applies outdoors. One problem I notice is that players see Daedalus in a group and they think. Darn these druids. Let me tell you that char is not the average run of the mill druid. We have spent alot of time trying to figure out the best gear and getting xp. By the argument that your putting out, Druids are best at anything that requires mana. Better blastos since they can regen faster, better healers since they regen faster, hell they even web better! Just remember that druids dont really get any prime only benefits, no pit fiend, no spelldamage, no healbonus, nothing other than outdoors regen, a little more powerful shifts and canopied arbor which doesnt work in 95% of applications. If you took away druid regen what would the point of the class even be. Like Aaron always says, fluidity and elemental resistance arent enough to even consider a class. This is almost like mages crying that they have to heal, except its clerics whining about blasting?

Makes little sense to me

Mike

PS Forgot about shield of thorns, thats how much it matters.

That was actually my point Medios:P If a druid doesn’t shift, you have to put them in another spot that is most beneficial to a group. If thats a druid cleric, than its healo, if its a druid mage than its the blasto. I don’t see it as a problem.

We are definately not amping heal spells anymore than they have been already. They are already insanely high…

If we’re talking about druid regen rates, I think we may fix the wrong problem.

Charles

Actually the only thing with druid regen rates is that at one time it triggered off of the sector Outside. At the time, it was a very small % of sloth rooms. The problem that has arisen is this, we have since redone all of sloth’s sectors and now a great deal of sloth’s rooms are within this Outside macro.

Thats about my only problem with it.

Splork

I can’t reply to the cleric change thread, so I’ll say thanks here. I’m sure I speak for most - if not all - of the cleric primes if I say Thanks! and we appreciate the effort.

Charles

If the decision is made to ‘adjust’ Druids to solve the Cleric problem, maybe all you really need to do is change one spell. Instead of the Heal spell, give them a new spell that heals only themselves. Call it something like Natures Boon.

[/quote:2aaitjsm]

OK, I’m assuming KJ meant to try Valkyrie while grouped. We did, it started out promising. Valkyrie starts with 300 mana. Unfortunately, the proc seemed to be healing the mob as well as us. On top of that, the Valkyrie got the killing blow so I stole the xps from the group. Obviously I wouldn’t be so concerned about that but I capped…

Charles

druids , clerics … thats not a problem , kids. SMALL QUEST GROUP W/O A THIEF!! - thaaats the problem! Time to change smth , bla bla bla ))

P.S. if ya dont like your classo - stfu and make a new char (c)

P.S. If you don’t the way ppl post on the crier STFU and choose a new mud

Hello Gimlet

F@ck off

thanks!

Lamer of the year award goes to Zam

Fixed the valkyrie bug that caused her to heal your enemies.

Possibly fixed the bug that made her steal kills as well; in a group, she should now disengage somewhat before the kill happens. The way she tells is a bit of a hack, but worked ok when I tested it - you can try it out and tell me how it works for you.

Thanks for the work on supplication Kj. Nice cleric bonus.

I meant to try the valkyrie again over the weekend, but it didn’t work out. I had my alignment all prepared and had a stack of evil corpses hidden away. Unfortunately, the first two ss eq mobs we hit were both good aligned.

I’ve been paying more attention to my alignment during groups lately, and I’ve added it to my custom prompt. It seems to me that the negative alignment from blind / weaken seem to cancel out the positive alignment from restoring. On top of that, we hit a variety of good and evil mobs, so my aligment fluctuates quite a bit and I’m neutral an unfortunate amount of time. Of course that’s just anecdotal, I didn’t take any notes or record alignment during the groups or anything useful like that.

Charles

Not an uncommon problem. Seems I spend a lot of time planning around alignment lately. Seems a lot easier to plan on and use the evil supps though. Nightmare being the one I see most commonly.
