Teach your boy Aaron some manners

·3045 words·15 mins

Well I guess Karkus/Cocaine ..rl Aaron has a lot of friends on this mud since most the avatars seem to know him by his rl name.

Please teach the boy some manners.

He said he needed some stuff from Olympus and I said I’d tank if he led. He grudgingly said ok and so Elsie and I boated over to Lyme. He rented without a word after I’d started hollering for folks to chop.

I didn’t know what I was doing to lead, but I faked it and got a small group together. Luckily Chi took over and led a great group and helped teach me some stuff in the process.

Aaron rejoined the group a few hours later, shortly before Chi turned it back over to me. I offered to transfer to him and he declined. Then when I called target as choirmaster, he said “I’m not sticking around for no boring xp” and immediately recalled and rented.

What the hell is wrong with him? He knows I’m somewhat of a newb when it comes to leading, and I told him I couldn’t lead Lyme eq and offered to transfer the group to him. I got the group going in the first place so he could get what he needed from Olympus and I could get a lil xp.

What he really wanted was for someone else to run the group, so he could just bot and call eq for himself. When he didn’t get what he wanted, he threw a tantrum.

I’m not the most mature person on the mud by far, but at least I’m generally friendly. What’s the point in playing, if not to have fun and enjoy each others company?

-Rub

What the fuck man. I never agree to lead anything, you put those words

in my mouth. You asked ASKED what mobs to kill. I said “the mobs in

our gjobs”. Spud replied with about 15 sahaguin mobs and I said I’m not

sticking around for some boring-ass chop xp, when you continued to head

toward the sahaguins. If you are gonna ask a question listen to the fckin'

answer I guess buddy, or don’t ask. Sorry if I made your pussy hurt by

recalling.

I can totally understand your frustration, since I have boated before only for Aaron to be afk for hours, or log off. However real life usually dictates when we can play the mud and sometimes we have to log off with short notice.

As far as Aaron only wanting to bot and get eq. I feel that DoW leads just as much as anyone. This includes Aaron who has been leading with Cocaine as of late. It seems lately that unless Minstrel , Krok or Bit is leading, nothing will get done. I applaud your leading and fully understand the difficulties therein. That said you have to realize alot of us are damn tired of chopping. Its slow, everyone is a healer, and the whole popping specs thing isnt cool to start a group. I always hear Aaron bitching about chop , even for eq. Im surprised that he even joined in the first place to be honest.

Mike

PS Also if Aaron didnt like you, you would know by now.

HA!

all too easy…

postscript: i feel like a damn troll.

If it makes you feel any better, Aaron has always been coarse. Its one of the major reasons everyone knows him. If you want a decent example, I was part of a group that was running xp in ettins with him leading. He went afk just as Splork noticed that his gjob was set to something vulgar… I don’t recall what exactly, but I think he dropped an F-bomb or two. Splork gave him about 30 seconds to change the gname…

Aaron came back from AFK to a dead character.

For all the warnings, all the punishment that he’s endured, and all the criticism, he’s never changed. I think he puts notches above his bedpost of the number of times he’s been noshouted… and I’m surpised he’s still got a place to sleep.

He’s actually one of the better leaders and players in the game. Generally he’s pretty hard to piss off and doesn’t take too much personally. He’s also one of the more generous players I’ve run into, donating some pretty decent eq to me back in the days I was still trying to get my footing in the game.

So, that’s my opinion of Aaron. I have no idea how he was ever allowed to have an immortal. I have no idea how he managed to learn the game without getting permanently banned for language and pthieving… but he did. He can be unpredictable and self-centered. He can also be a damned nice person to have around in a pinch. Go figure.

My recommendation: Don’t take too much he does personally. He knows what he’s doing though. If you’re lost and confused, he’s usually able to straighten you out.

Well shit, I didn’t know I was generous or nice, I better get to work on fixing

that, thanks Keith!

I think I also mentioned you’re mostly a bastard :)

But I’ll give you points for style.

Yeah, hes changed and mellowed out a WHOLE lot.

If its worthy of it, he will still tell you to fuck off and drop dead.

if you fuck with him, he’ll pkill you, no questions asked.

But then again, im the same way too. The only people I ever manage

to upset are the immortals though, and they are pretty god damn hard to

player kill.

Medios will probably pkill you, then tell you to fuck off.

Mike is a lil lopsided though wink mike

Mike will also fart in your car.

But yeah, Aaron does change, slowly, like wine.

Really, really, really, sour, wine.

yeah I change….

FORM OF A FCKING BONER!

Who the fuck is Aaron?

[quote:1ouwuazb]If its worthy of it, he will still tell you to **** off and drop dead.

if you **** with him, he’ll pkill you, no questions asked. [/quote:1ouwuazb]

not an exageration, an alt of mine called Cocaine boring on gossip once (I think I said a bit more too but all to the effect of the same), 5 mins later I’d had been left for dead as an alt of his stood over my corpse and gossiped boasting of how he’d slept blinded etc me in an aggro area.

That said he did raise me (at almost exactly the last second), and while still whining on continually about how it was all my own fault, did offer to spell me up (iron aegis etc … big deal).

So in my opinion aa is a boring self centred selfish arrogant conceited coarse rude pkilling player, personally I don’t like him.

However, he does know Sloth far better than most other players and I’ll join any group he runs that I can because I know I’ll get xp / whatever out of it.

The first post in this thread mentioned me as having sailed to join a chop group he was going to run … as my name was mentioned in passing I ought to say it wasn’t a big deal to me I sailed to join a forming group that didn’t happen, it not the first and won’t be the last time.

Elsie

I think one of the things that muds can teach is methods to deal with other people. It’s probably impossible to like every single person you find online. I think it is possible though to learn how to deal with the different personality types that you find online.

news update:

Brand… you are a damn troll

aaron can appear to be a difficult person to handle. I’ve known him since the day i started mudding over 10 years ago. Through the years, we’ve had our good times and our bad, but he never holds a grudge against you. one thing I know is that he stays loyal to his friends, always. it’s a game to him, and should be a game to everyone. People like melanthe who used to mud 15hrs a day non-stop should really get help.

I’ve been leadin much less lately, coz I refuse to deal with groupies who demand and demand and demand. People who constantly ask for eq pops in xp groups, and people who tell me what I should be killing, etc. It’s one thing if i’m a noob leader and don’t know my way around, but if i’m leading a dweb group that clears out dweb almost 3 times before we regen, you should just stfu and enjoy the xp.

that said, I do find it a bit funny that Rub is whinning about all this, as he whinned the other day when i started a group, he tanked for about 20minutes, then when toxis joined and i changed tanks, he got pissy and rented coz he wanted tank xp.

I don’t have a problem with rub, nor anyone on the mud for that matter. hell, I’ve even burried my differences with my eternal nemesis Splork :)

Chill, people. At the end of the day it’s just a silly game for us to unwind, however addictive it is, and however much time we throw into it.

Note to elsie (and all other newcomers):

It’s generally unwise for people who are new (less than 2-3 year play time) to the mud to get mouthy to the old-schoolers who have mudded for over a century. I’m not saying it’s right for them to kill ya, I’m just saying there’s an unspoken code of conduct on the mud that can make your mudding days unpleasant if you choose to be a smartass (not saying that u were, elsie, I’ve always enjoyed mudding with you)

Note to elsie (and all other newcomers):[/quote:84am32yz]

Erm 2 years on SlothIII … sure I’m a newbie but I’m no newcomer

blah blah blah (not saying that u were, elsie

[/quote:84am32yz]

yes you were

, I’ve always enjoyed mudding with you)[/quote:84am32yz]

you too sweety, and I’ve always enjoyed mudding trading and chatting with you as well

You get mouthy on public channels, then you best reap what you sow.

If you dont want to get yourself in shit, then stfu up gossip.

Pretty simple, a 2 year person or a 2 month person should know this.

I almost felt sorry for him killing you when it happened. How ever, as a rule, I refuse to feel sorry for anyone he kills. Because if he did it, then he

has a good reason for doing so. Now, I’d hope he would do so again.

Then again, we would both prosper if this was a pkill mud.

If you dont want to get yourself in shit, then stfu up gossip.[/quote:2br0ieve]

Whats this some secret mud dictatorship policy statement or perhaps some vague veiled threat " … I’ve been here longer than you, but thats ok I’ll let you play as long as you don’t make me angry … you wouldn’t like me if I got angry … " Its not even an original sentiment.

What exactly are you saying Daizz? You can only gossip on the mud if you’ve been gossiping on the mud for years and years, have got drunk with Splork, taken Jakes nephew to the playground, cleaned up Blasters vomit after a Friday night and remember the names of all the original cobol (or whatever) programmers?

No wait, Diazz told me not to gossip, I may not have seen him at all until a month or so ago when he seemed to appear out of thin air as an Avatar, but I will nevertheless immediately cease any use of the gossip channel …

Because if he did it, then he has a good reason for doing so.[/quote:2br0ieve]

What absolute nonsense, he’s right because he did it?

I haven’t heard a more stupid remark since I listened to my dad justify many of the bad things he did in his life by saying that parents are always right.

I hated my dad for hitting me, I hated him more for saying it was ok to hit me because he wouldn’t have done it if I didn’t deserve it.

Bullying is never justifiable. No ifs no buts no good reasons no justification ever.

Then again, we would both prosper if this was a pkill mud.[/quote:2br0ieve]

Maybe, maybe not, but then this isn’t a pkill mud, …. you want to pkill go find a mud that is pkill, isn’t that the argument that was used everytime anyone of us ’newbies’ objected to or questioned pthieving … if we didn’t like it we could leave?

…….

I’m surprised at you Diazz, I’ve chatted with you in game as various alts and always found you reasonable and agreeable, friendly and helpful, not at all as you came over in your post.

Elsie

(aka Vasca Asilomar Kildare)

How about just sucking it up and move on with your lives. All this whining.. Just play and get exp. eq. or whatever it is you do. Let by-gones be by-gones. This IS just a game…

now for the important part.. post more half naked young chicks!!!!!!!!!!!! :)

find a happy place..

Im really not here to listen about anyone takin an ass whoopin from dad. My father has been an alcoholic for well over 30 years. I wont begin to try and muster up sympathy for what he did to me as a child. I will say this. Im glad my dad beat my ass good. Im a stronger person because of it. If I had not received those various lashings im sure that I would be in prison today. The fear of power is sometimes the only thing that will deter people from stupidity. Granted an ass whoopin is not always deserving, it does help you walk the line. I also get along with my father very well now, I dont hate.

Sloth is alot like real life with one exception. If you tell me to stfu in real life, I could reach out and slap your face. Then you could react do whatever you thought you needed to do before I beat your ass down. On sloth there is no real repercussions for rude behavior. I can boycott you from my group, or ignore any requests for raise or cr. These are passive events with the person possibly not even realizing what has happened. Firestorm is an active event, once you see OUCH THAT REALLY DID HURT!! you mind begins to change. Is this the answer, not always. Is it worth the punishment, possibly.

As far as Diazz goes, I think hes largely misunderstood due to lack of communication. Elsie totally missed his point. I bet most of you didnt know that Diazz created the chapel of lost cross. Just because he hasnt played in a few years doesnt make him ignorant. Next time say something like, that Diazz his eq sure sux. Then maybe we can agree.

Mike

Oh the abuse!!!!!

You bastard!!

Mine eqz do’s suxxor.

I though Diazz was one of the Souls group.

The Latvians call me ‘Soul’s Keeper’

They are cool like that. :D

laff. too bad the tournaments were a bust..

this line up would make a killer Saturday Night Smack Down Event!!!

oooooh the ticket sales and francise rights alone….

i can smell a big mc-large huge profit!

was browsing Sloth and noticed this thread. I said to myself there was no way in hell it’d be the same Aaron from eons past.. but it apparently is.

And Gimlet? Diazz?

Just stopping by to say hi. :o

Jentai?

hit me at kell.sims@gmail.com

Haha, Xylene is dead to me. I think Dug or someone has had her for the past like 10 years. :o

I made a little Jendead and I can’t even last player.. grr

A have to agree with the gist of this statement. Perhaps we could all try to be a little nicer. Even me.

Along those lines, I have been playing a bit more recently and at one point was considering leading a semi-large group. Some new* player (I don’t remember who, and don’t care) said I don’t know the first thing about leading. Just beacuse you haven’t seen me lead doesn’t mean I wasn’t leading large groups when you were in diapers. As Turbo once said “good leading is a skill like riding a bike - you don’t forget it.” This is certainly true - you ever seen Shyla lead? (She can, and is fantastic at it!) People complain when there isn’t a group, and turn around and criticise someone when they try and lead. Leading is difficult, that is why there is an additional reward for it. Don’t make a challanging task overly difficult by being rude.

I guess the bottom line here is, try and stop criticising people.

Qa

*New: read, new classes, been here less than 4 years, etc.

Edit: Hey, Xylene. How are ya?

Actually, I’d like to see more people trying to learn to lead large groups instead of criticizing folks for trying. If you’re smart enough to criticize, take the lead and show us how it’s done.

I can lead big groups sir.

True, but you’re not a newbie either sir.

Sometimes, that is debatable sir.
