This article brings up some interesting points about the media lies.
Ron Paul 08
He refuses to go on the Glenn Beck program. The point was made that he has about 2% of the vote mainly due to low publicity. He’s been heckled that for someone who wants to get the word out about who he is and what he stands for, he refuses to go on many national radio talk shows due to the fact he has a hard time answering question and during interviews has displayed the behavior of someone being trapped in a corner. I don’t know anything about Ron Paul other than the fact he doesn’t step up and either acknowledge
or deny his critics. That fact in itself, isn’t very re-assuring.
Oh don’t worry, I’m sure this post will be removed before too many people get to read it. 8)
I read it Tap!
Did you actually research any of the polls? The media is clearly trying to bash him. I have watched several of the debates and his ideas are sound. It is amazing to me the way the media covers the candidates. I could tell that Hillary Clinton and Rudy Guiliani had the media support over a year ago. It is obvious if you watch any tv and take third party perspective. The real reason a candidate like Ron Paul won’t win is because the bankers will have him killed.
Since this topic is on it’s own thread, I hope it won’t be deleted.
I hold the media (as a gross generalization) at about the same level of esteem as a particularly nasty-smelling piece of day-old dog turd on the sidewalk. The media is unbelievably biased, could not tell the truth without distortion or half-truths or out-of-context quotes if their lives depended on it.. and in fact it would seem their lives are on the line economically speaking, which is abundantly clear if you look at NY Times’ plummeting stock values. They have waaaay to much ability to sway public opinion, mainly because most of the public have too much faith in them, which is entirely undeserved in recent times. They are bottom-feeding scum. Fortunately people are starting to wake up to this, but way too slowly imho.
/rant.
I know little about him, other than what I read on wikipedia. However, how much of what he says he believes in are under the authority of the president to enact, especially with a democratic congress and house? Even if republicans managed to take control again, how many of his beliefs would have majority support to get bills passed, so that they can be sent to him to be signed?
Just like presidents before him signed executive orders to get the ball rolling on laws or to just plain enforce something of his own. If the courts do not rule against an executive order it is the same as law. Since the executive branch controls the military it has the power to enforce anything it theoretically wants. Ron Paul wants “sound money”. He also wonders why we borrow money from the Central Bank err I mean Federal Reserve. The Dept of Treasury should have the power to print money interest free. He also believes in small Federal Government and more laws being controlled by the States. Its Amendment 10 to the Bill of Rights. Out of all the tyrants he is the only one willing to stand up and fight for less control.
Mike
This is a slothmud game website right? Im sure there are forums and blogs for presidental candidates out there. Trying to stir up what maybe 20 people on this crier doesnt serve the candidate much purpose. The question is why does Mike feel the need to play politics on a sloth game website? Dogs got that boring to play?
If I want to be annoyed with the government I can turn on any news channel, left, right, or whomever. It doesnt need to be on this site.
Have some respect for other people Mike.
Most of what you said has value, the candidate appears to have some value, but it just doesnt need to be here.
Would a kind immortal please take a second and remove this entire thread.
first amendment yo. :twisted:
Is it really a problem Mos? - I can certainly relate when existing threads are hijacked, but in this case Medios had the intelligence to create a new thread specifically for the subject.. then again, we don’t want hundreds of irrelevant (to sloth) new threads jamming up the place either, so maybe you have a point..
meh. up to the admins.
this forum may be for the mud, but look at the section this thread is in - GENERAL CHAT - meaning anything is open for discussion, within the bounds of decency and taste. asking the imms to delete this thread is disrupting and ignoting the very thing americans have fought so hard for so long to preserve, basic civil freedoms, namely the freedom of expression. if you dont like whats in a thread, dont read it. just let the rest of us exercise our rights to talk about whatever we want (within reason) or sound as intelligent or insanely ignorant as we want (poke tap)
flame away, im a proud american and i will take the heat to defend our rights, and the rights of anyone using this forum hosted on american soil any day of the week
I think Ron Paul might be the only Republican worth voting for, its odd be he seems to actually be a real human being. I checked out his site, I don’t agree with the guy about everything but at least he is not some knee jerk reactionary, his stands actually seem thought out. The places we disagree I can’t fault him for, I mean I can’t expect a guy who delivers babies to be pro choice, it would kinda put him outa work.
more importantly the man’s a firm libertarian. It really doesn’t matter if people agree with him, or he with them - not everyones going to agree, the point is, it’s not a governments responsibility to pass laws dictating what is and isn’t ok, based on a random group getting their panties in a bunch and making lots of noise about it. It shouldn’t matter if you agree with a candidates personal beliefs, as those should not be a large factor in their performance - their job is not (supposedly) to impose their own ideas on a nation, or do what they feel is ‘best’, but to faithfully uphold the Constitution, which is pretty explicit about what the government can and cannot do. Most of the areas where I’d personally disagree with Dr. Paul are moot, as while there may be personal disagreements, he shows no desire to inflict ideas on others through government, which stands out in itself. Not to say I agree with the other running republicans (or certainly any of the democrats) on more than a bare handful of issues, but even where I tend to agree with others, I have problems with their concepts of implementation, which is invariably through more laws, more resolutions, more taxes, more police, more everything that’s slowly rotting away at this country.

I’ve no idea who you’re all talking about and have no opinions on the matter, but it does always amuse me that you americans seem to have a habit of assuming that the whole world revolves around you, your news and your political intrigues. Frankly most of the world couldn’t care less.
once again I had a whole thing typed up and scrapped it at the last moment.

It is your right as a sensient carbon based lifeform to concern yourself with your enviornment, therefore conversing with others of like.
Although as you stated yourself that you are not American, then this does not concern you. However by posting your opinion on a thread such as this you are proving that the world does revolve around us, or you wouldnt have been complelled to answer. No-one forced you to read, nor reply to this thread, so anything past that point is drivel. I have no intention to come and negotiate a wheel change on your ox-cart and I dont expect your opinion to matter on this subject.
good day.

I don’t know what the stats are on U.S. vs. Everyone else is on this site….but….people talk about what is relevant to them and in the U.S. politics are by our right relevant to us. We (supposedly) have the power to sway the government by our decisions and our votes, so we talk about them.
BTW….too damn poor to be party w/ the rich war machine and too damn angry to be a friggin tree hugger…..think I will vote for myself this time…..Vote Resouh President…….

We’ll see…probably one of the ‘rumors of war’ but still….I’m paranoid a f*ck but something seems to be in the air. A college near where I live was used to day for ‘military exercises’ to train for terrorist attack. And several news sources are suggesting possible school attacks in the near future.
Ron is an interesting guy. I agree with a lot of what he says, but I wouldn’t vote for him.
I think the ‘mainstream’ media matters less and less every year. Our society is shifting further and further from mass media. I don’t turn on the TV unless I have something I want to watch on the DVR, and I don’t record anything from Fox news or CNN etc. Young people, especially males but not as much for females, spend less and less time watching TV. Of course newspaper / magazine subscriptions are down year after year. I’m not unique in this, a lot of people are finding that they can choose where to go for information. When we have the ability to choose, we go to google news and John Stewart.
It’s interesting to see polls and hear about who’s in the ’lead’ day after day, but it will be interesting to see what happens when these polls start to fail. If we actually read the wikipedia articles for each politician and vote based on our own understanding, we might get better results.
I think that the reason I look at the personal beliefs of those whom I might vote is that I haven’t seen an american president in my lifetime abide simply by their sworn duty to uphold the constitution, therefore I want to know more about how they will most likely act before voting them in (or not as the last two elections have gone for me). I think that Ron Paul would be a good candidate, in my opinion, the best the republicans have to offer. He will most likely not get elected though as most americans don’t seem too interested in finding the best person for the job only the one with the most advertising. I don’t know I just might have to vote for whoever most closely holds to the ideals of pastafarianism.

I finally got to see Ron Paul in an interview on Glenn Beck tv program.
While he has some ideas I favor myself, he doesn’t seem to carry himself well. I’m somewhat curious on how he is getting attention/support. I live in a town of about 35k people and out of the blue on a cold,rainy night, several people are “campaigning” for him at a busy intersection. Kind of odd really, I am wondering just how many small towns across the south he has people waving his signs and such. Thought it was funny how his campaign took a donation from a member of the KKK, scolded the donater then refused to return the funds. Not sure if that was for PR reasons but it is the kind of press that does damage. I’m def gonna try to learn more about him before making any final decisions. He’s kind of like Obama, just not enough meat to really get a good bite on. Any who, out of all those running, Romney and Obama seem to be the only ones I’m wishing I knew more about without all the hub-bub. The rest have way too much baggage. We all know people we can kind of replace with say a Hillary or a Rudy and while on the surface they may seem ok at best, any amount of time actually spent around them shows what an asshole they really are. Damn, ranting and off/on topic again. Where was I? Oh yeah, Vote Bush ‘08!!
[img:c3dlsrwp]http://www.funnyheck.com/images/bushkerry.jpg[/img:c3dlsrwp]
Seems like i keep hearing the theme of I like a lot of what RP has to say but I am not going to vote for him. So I am wondering why the hell not? We know for a fact everyone else is a liar and most likely a crook. Why not give a new perspective a chance?
Hell we are going to likely get a carter/bush performance from the next twit anyway.
I never stated I liked alot of what he had to stay. Each candidate has some ideas that I support. Unfortunately, as with all for them, they all have 1-3 key issues that I find more important that they seem to waver on. Each person has their own priority on what’s important. In Ron Paul’s case, there are several key issues for me that for the most part, disqualifies any other important positive points he has. One is abolishing the IRS. Not feasible, and stating against the obvious doesn’t help. He wants to get rid of tax altogether. Instead,to raise money for government, people will pay a ‘use-age fee’.
Hello, a hole by any other name is still a hole.Also, his plan to tuck tail and run from war is a heavy blanket for me. Right or wrong, I’d find it hard to support anyone who’d rather bend over and take it up the arse than fight. What are we? France? As far as everyone else being a liar and crook. You state the obvious. Too bad there isn’t a Obama/Romney ticket. Those 2 would be a cinch to win,imho. I’d like to hi-jack this thread and point out 3-4 proven negatives on each candidate but I’ll wait till Feb ‘08. Don’t overlook our 4th choice. George Bush!
[img:3ak57fv2]http://www.funnypicsusa.com/gwbush_pics3/bush_augustuscaesar.jpg[/img:3ak57fv2]
Right now, for better or for worse, I think if Bush ran he’d get in - not on his own merit, but on the appalling alternatives available, much like when his main contender was Kerry (laugh!). Yes some candidates have good points, but their bad points outweigh their good… it’s a case of “better the devil you know than the devil you don’t” imho, as sad as that may be.
I certainly agree that unconditional surrender in Iraq and the Middle East (or withdrawal as some prefer to phrase it) is a very bad idea. Things are improving there, even some Dems are admitting that much. The long-run cost of immediate withdrawal would FAR exceed any short-run gain.
Additionally, US has to avoid heading down the socialist path it seems to be heading in some ways, particularly if Dems have their way. The law and the US Constitution exist to protect the people, not the individual, but far too many people in the US ‘me-generation’ think the opposite and expect a free ride, while others pay for them.
Uphold existing federal laws regarding illegal aliens and immigration (and cut it with the PC ‘undocumented immigrant’ BS), start protecting the borders, and give those jobs to welfare recipients - so sick of seeing ungrateful a55hats demanding handouts and then complaining it’s not enough.
Freedom of religion, not from religion - the Christian bashing and Islam dhimmitude has to stop. I’m not religious, but I can see the injustice in this country - a country supposedly founded upon Christianity.
Probably a bit extreme atm because of reading some crap from a New Orleans / Katrina evacuee who is living in better conditions than many working people I know, yet is complaining that “it’s pitiful what people give you” (her words), spoken from the comfort of her recently renovated apartment which has been rent-free for the last 2 years courtesy of the tax-paying public, and she states this while sitting in her apartment by her 60 inch flatscreen HDTV - because it’s not fair that she cant pay the electricity this month.. WTF? On welfare as well, of course - gawd forbid she get off her 300lb fat a55 and get a job. What’s more, there is footage of her making racial slurs and claiming she is treated like a slave.
Another woman in a similar position living in a hotel suite for free for two years refused a job offered by the hotel management, and when the hotel said two years is enough and offered the job, she kicked up a stink and made out it was a racist thing, and the hotel caved - now she has a free hotel suite indefinitely.
Fark that, I’d like to slap these people in the face and throw their sorry a55es out on the street. GRRRR.

At about the time our original 13 states adopted their new constitution, in the year 1787, Alexander Tyler (a Scottish history professor at The University of Edinborough) had this to say about “The Fall of The Athenian Republic†some 2,000 years prior.
“A democracy is always temporary in nature; it simply cannot exist as a permanent form of government. A democracy will continue to exist up until the time that voters discover that they can vote themselves generous gifts from the public treasury. From that moment on, the majority always votes for the candidates who promise the most benefits from the public treasury, with the result that every democracy will finally collapse due to loose fiscal policy, (which is) always followed by a dictatorship.â€
“The average age of the worlds greatest civilizations from the beginning of history, has been about 200 years. During those 200 years, these nations always progressed through the following sequence:
From Bondage to spiritual faith;
From spiritual faith to great courage;
From courage to liberty;
From liberty to abundance;
From abundance to complacency;
From complacency to apathy;
From apathy to dependence;
From dependence back into bondage.â€
Jefferson and Hamilton had a similar debate as what Weasel posted before.
As to a president abolishing taxes. It wont happen. A president alone cannot do that. It would take the agreement of both houses and the president.
Same deal with the supposed thing we are ding called a war. It takes more than a president to make an idea happen.
Checks and balances. Let the system work and put a guy with different ideas in. You think he can do worse? Only if the houses let him.
The reason things get hosed up so bad is when there is no check and balance. Then crap gets ram rodded thru and it’s up to the judiciary to block it.
Fred Thompson was pretty impressive in the South Carolina Republican debate earlier tonight. Bit of a late start, but I think he got a few people rethinking their position. Gonna be real interesting to see how things go from here. As I read on another site, it’s not unthinkable that Romney wins Michigan, Thompson wins South Carolina (which seems a given now), and Giuliani wins Florida. Under that scenario, the five biggest contests of the early GOP Primary season will have generated five different winners. Fun. As far as Ron Paul goes.. seriously, wtf? Clown.
Before anyone says that the country cannot survive without the income tax we need to ask how we were operating before the 16th amendment. I would also ask how the country got along without the federal reserve. It is all about manipulation. The reason I support Ron Paul is not because he wants to decriminalize marijuana or abolish the IRS. I like Dr. Paul because he believes in personal responsibility. Our government has long since abandoned its stance on this.
Here is the scenario
I got a house mortgage about 2.5 years ago at 6.125% for 30 years. Now as far as loans go it wasn’t a bad rate. Joe Blow got an adjustable rate mortgage and his interest has doubled in the last 2 years so he has to foreclose. Or wait, now the government is going to allow this person to get a FHA guaranteed loan at a lower rate than my fixed? This is absolute bullshit and it only adds to the irresponsibility of the citizens. Why should dumbass people be rewarded for making even dumber decisions. The people who screwd up are now getting a better deal than a person who made the right decision. Thanks Congress.
I paid in almost 7k dollars in federal income tax last year. This money is going to subsidize failed industries, loan bailouts, and foreign nationals. I am disgusted with the candidates and its apparent that everyone except Ron Paul and Fred Thompson will increase the government by not only leaps but bounds. Guiliani wishes to have a police state where every citizen is a prisoner. Romney can’t decide what he wants. Huckabee is a lunatic. The man even said that in heaven there is duck hunting. Is heaven meant to be some form of duck hell? On the Democrat side it only goes from bad to worse. The candidates are openly socialist and would love to tax corporations(who will pass the bill to the consumer).
In response to Weasel. This country was not founded on Christian ideals. It was a belief in Deity or God. Many of the founder fathers were not Christian but deists. Look it up. George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, Ben Franklin - all deists not Christian. The lunatics on both parties have taken over and wish to hurl us into a one world police state government where your every move is tracked and directed. If you don’t agree then explain to me why the Republicans will not do a damn thing about immigration? The simple fact is that the politicians do not want us to know the workings for the North American Union until its too late. They plan to wear down America until we have lost our fight and submit. Fuck that.
Totally agree 100% re mortgage bailouts and immigration - both piss me off big time, and will most determine how I vote. I think McCain is actually a Democrat who happens to wear a Republican pin, seriously. Just about all of them want to reward people for breaking the law (immigration) and irresponsible actions (mortgages), which is why Fred’s looking so much better. Ron just seems a little unhinged to me..
If it ends up a choice between Clinton and McCain, this country is screwed.
The reason he looks unhinged is because he says things that people are scared to say. He challenges the federal reserve, promotes responsibility both fiscally and personally, income tax, and most of all he promotes state rights.
Btw I think of McCain like the Manchurian Candidate. Shiver
[quote:1r38qpgk]This country was not founded on Christian ideals. It was a belief in Deity or God. Many of the founder fathers were not Christian but deists.[/quote:1r38qpgk]
It’s interesting that you mentioned that. My friend Brett joined the Masons
about a year ago and told me that they require that you only believe in
somethign greater than yourself. Not christianity or anything in particular.
This money is going to subsidize failed industries, loan bailouts, and foreign nationals. [/quote:10mtik8h]
You forgot foreign wars and influence but I mostly agree with you.
Good thread cause it’s very interesting for me to get yours standpoint not from mass media (f***ing propaganda on both russian and american).
Obama has just jumped on the bailout bandwagon too. :roll:
Just for fun. Somewhat of a carification. Cristian ideals were involved in the creation of this nation. Yes The previously mentioned individuals were the balance to those opinions. Ben Franklin’s editing and removal of Church speak and replacing it with scientific speak makes him in my mind the single most important founding father. (Never mind the whole library thing he created.)
But you also need to remember that back in the revolutionary times there were not a lot of places to gather and print media was much rarer then today.
A significant portion of the retoric leading up to the revolution was put forth by pastors in thier churches simply because churches we a natural meeting place. And don’t forget the church speak was put there to be removed by big Ben.
We are still a christian nation inspite of all the people that are opposed to it being so. I am not one of those people. I would like there to be the seperation of church and state that seems to be dissapearing by the day. And I could give a crap about bibles in schools, that is such a red herring it makes me sick. Church values imposed by the government is a bad deal no matter what religion you are. The values are not bad. The idiots who would impose them to the unwashed are.
All that said I want to be able to vote Ron Paul into office and given a chance that is what I will do. I don’t think I am going to get the chance and that just puts me back to the old anyone but Hillary view I had originally.

yeah, he’s got jokes!
WTF? Hunter endorses Huck? I don’t get it.. smells like a payoff, because they were polar opposites in some of their major campaign points, particularly regarding the border and immigration.. it’s either a payoff for an appointment, or Hunter was straight out lying during his campaign… well I guess the latter would hardly be surprising for a politician.
