Simulacrum

·379 words·2 mins

I’ve been trying to work out if this spell has any use whatsoever:

[quote:1y69k0n5]“SIMULACRUM”

See also: FAMILIAR CHARM

Usage: cast ‘simulacrum’

Accumulative: No

Duration: instantaneous

Level: Necromancer 24

Spellbook: a book titled ‘How to create a simulacra’

Min Mana: 75

Simulacrum creates a near identical duplicate of the castee. The duplicate

creature is partially real and formed from undead material. At all times the

simulacrum remains under your absolute command. A simulacrum has no ability

to become more powerful. It cannot increase its level or abilities. However,

if used properly can be the difference between life and death.[/quote:1y69k0n5]

I’ve cast this and got a follower with the same name (which makes it a little difficult to control and plays hell with my aliases) and description as myself with 1hp 50mvs.

It follows me mostly, but can wander off by itself.

It can be ordered but not remotely (like familiar) and not to do useful things like cast spells or heal etc.

Remotely it dosen’t report whats happening in its area (like familiar).

In a fight my enemy didn’t at any point try and hit it (7 min long battle with a mob with 5 hits a round).

When ordered to fight a kobold female killed it in one hit.

I’ve not tried gating to it …

Its an expensive spell (75 mana) and sbs arn’t a common pop so I’m sure it must have some use … but I can’t see it.

Can anyone help?

The only use i have found is that it confuses people when you are not logged on and your simu is still wandering around, other than that it is worthless. ;)

You can use it on arena, well, if someone doesn’t have a good area spell.

For a 75 mana spell, someone will likely wind it dead for 25 mana.

I’ve never tested … but I thought it might be useful with Wurragurr ( was he the one with the insta-kill proc after a few rounds of battle? ). Maybe his proc is targetted, and would hit the simula instead of the character. I can’t think of any other procs that would be worth 75 mana to avoid.

well, cast a spell for 75 mana and say restore fixes it :)

Good point :)
