So stoked! Finally switched from DSL (3mbps d/l, 780kbps u/l) to cable today - currently running just under 15mbps d/l and 1.9 u/l, but the added dedicated boost pipe kicks in within the next 48hours and then I should be hitting up to 30mbps d/l and 5mbps u/l! This is awesome after DSL!!

Wow and some countries have 100mbps d/l apparently.. insane!

:!:

sweet!

32,326 kbps download speed

4,488 kbps upload

multiple speed tests came out roughly the same.. nice.

gratz on the bandwidth, its prob the best it will ever be. As soon others in your neighborhood start hooking up it will start dropping as cable is shared between everyone at the box. I would personally kill for 3Mbps dsl but alas Im stuck on 512 wireless until I move or die.

Yeah, I’m old. We purchased our first modems as a pair, and initially only used them to ’network’ two computers with null-modem cables. 300 baud baby! I win!

“Modems: Many external modems worked perfectly with the CoCo 2 and 3. As far as cartridge modems go, the Direct Connect Modem Pak was a 300 baud modem designed for the CoCo.”

The computes were the Radio Shack / Tandy Color Computer (CoCo) TRS-80. We eventually had four of these, and a lot of accessories.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/TRS-80_Color_Computer

Still, that wasn’t even the first computer our family had when I was growing up. We had a Timex Sinclair 1000…2k RAM! We did eventually get the 16k memory add-on pack. I still have the cassette player we used to save programs, somewhere.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Timex_Sinclair_1000

while we’re on the subject

anyone remember the good old days of dialup chats?

[url:31f8au67]http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Diversi-Dial[/url:31f8au67]

6 300bps modems plugged into an AppleIIe, dialing in with my old Hayes external 2400baud…. good times :)

I used to run an old Renegade BBS too, another buddy ran a Wildcat setup… good times, good times

i owned a Sinclair too, based on Z80A processor, made in USSR and it’s name was ‘Spark’

i was really proud about that Z80A, didn’t knew what that ‘A’ means, but all my friends owned puters with Z80 and were envy me

then some guys were developing ‘Scorpion’ - Sinclair, but with extended features, like HDD, 128k RAM and floppy drive

sadly, their work had no future because PC conquered all

~4..5 years ago i stumbled upon an Z80 emulator, it was a graduate degree work of some sort of, made by a guy from Montenegro while there was a war

he wrote in readme.txt about the work goes slowly, no electricity etc and he was powering his computer from diesel generator

PS. no idea why there’s a stars replacing the name, but it was ‘S.p.a.r.k.’ (w/o points)

Thanks :) Fortunately I have what I guess equates to dedicated pipe bandwidth - it costs me an extra $10 a month, but it means there is a specified maximum number of connections allowed on this portion of the pipe in this area, so although there may be some speed reduction in peak periods, it’ll never drop drastically - guaranteed minimum would be 15mbps, but that would be absolute worst case scenario and would be treated as service disruption almost (by the sound of it).. apparently around 25-27mbps at worst in peak periods could be expected. Drooling yet?

Had a Commodore Amiga 500 for years - loved that little beast!

Remember playing around on TRS80’s waaay back..

Had a couple classics

There was the good ole Commodore C-64 with the optional 1541 floppy drive(which took 10-15 min to read a 32k file).

and I even played around with the precursor to that, the Commodore VIC-20

Oh and lets not forget one magic word - BASIC

very nice, not exactly sure why u want such a big pipe but it would be nice.

I don’t have any applications that need more than what I have. Currently 512k w/ 1.3M burst. With this I can surf, mud, play online games while the wife streams 4 live cams on horses giving birth w/o problems…

I really don’t know what I would do w/ that kind of bw unless I wanted to replicate servers across the country all the time, or maybe a frame relay for data backup storage for a company or 4.

enjoy the pipe sir but don’t let your palms get too hairy

just remember 1 pair of bolt cutters can cut that line very easy and I can find out where you live.

LOL!

Yeah probably unnecessarily excessive bw, but sweet for d/l’s and u/l’s - there’s 2 of us using the connection networked via hardwired router, and we both upload a fair amount as well as d/l. The IP appears to be static, so we could host our own server too…

If I don’t pay the extra $10/month, then max speed is 15mbps (which is still awesome), but peak times can apparently drop significantly, and I heard reports that it can drop below 3mbps at extreme peak, which is the constant speed I had with DSL previously, so would not be so great..

Novelty has worn off a little now - just had to post when I first got it - could not believe how fast d/l’s were. Apparently the connection is great for some of the more intensive online games too.

Nerds!

unless you paid for a static ip then its not, what happens is your router will request a renewal of your current ip from the dhcp server. If the power doesn’t go out and you lose connection to the isp you will prob keep the same ip addy.

If you want to host a website or anything of the sort you could use

dynamic dns and it won’t matter if you ip changes it will keep track and send people to the correct ip. its also free unless u need more advanced services.

Nerd ? yes but this is what I go to school for and enjoy it immensely.

Didn’t pay for static, but just been away to Las Vegas for 5 days and had powered everything off.. IP still the same now we’re back.

Looking online.. didn’t realize, but I also get a good chunk of free hosting with full log access, cgi-bin, etc.. not that I need more hosting space.

Ok.. IP is not static unless I pay more, but will generally remain the same anyway for long periods of time, just not guaranteed.

Oh and yes, Dynamic Domain Name Server (DDNS) is available at no additional cost. Nice.

NZealand court sentences man after wombat rape claim

WELLINGTON (AFP) - A New Zealand man has been sentenced to community service after telling police he had been raped by a wombat and the experience had caused him to start speaking “Australian”.

Arthur Cradock, a 48-year-old orchard worker from Motueka on South Island, rang police on February 11 to say he was being raped by the slow moving Australian marsupial at his home, The Nelson Mail reported.

He rang back soon afterwards to say he was withdrawing his complaint against the wombat, a court was told Wednesday.

“Apart from speaking Australian now, I’m pretty all right you know,” he told police in the second call.

Cradock pleaded guilty to using a phone for a fictitious purpose and was sentenced to 75 hours community work.

Prosecutors said alcohol played a large part in Cradock’s life, although his defence lawyer said he was not drunk on the afternoon of the phone calls.

hehe yeah funny as.. unfortunately the cops didn’t find it amusing.

Btw we don’t have wombats in NZ - they’re native to Australia.

“using a phone for a fictitious purpose”, they think of some great names for these minor crimes don’t they.

Was pretty funny though.

Why don’t the police catch a REAL criminal… ?

NZ actually has no native animals only native birds. Having lived in both NZ and Australia, I’d have to say NZ has more silly laws, but NZ stomps all over Australia in general.

Probably part of the reason why the guy claimed to get raped by a wombat, is because Australian’s claim that NZ’ders rape sheep… So the guy was “returning fire” so to speak.

I’ve found Australian’s far more racial… but I guess America is probably worse.

When you are admitted to a hospital, they place on your wrist a white wristband with your name on it. But there are other different colored wristbands which symbolizes other things. The red wristbands are placed on dead people.

There was one surgeon who worked on night shift in a school hospital. He had just finished an operation and was on his way down to the basement. He entered the elevator and there was just one other person there. He casually chatted with the woman while the elevator descended. When the elevator door opened another woman was about to enter when the doctor slammed the close button and punched the button to the highest floor. Surprised the woman reprimanded the doctor for being rude and asked why he did not let the other woman in.

The doctor said: “That was the woman i just operated on. She died while I was doing the operation. Didn’t you see the red wristband she was wearing?”

The woman smiled and raised her arm: “Something like this?”

Actually, we do have native animals other than birds. There are fish, insects and other invertebrates, reptiles, amphibians, land mammals(only bats), marine mammals, and of course birds.

[quote:2cqm0x1p]With the exception of two species of bat, no indigenous mammals are native to New Zealand. The only other wild mammals at present are those that have been introduced and they are usually considered as pests. These includes deer, goats, pigs, rabbits, weasels, ferrets, and the Australian opossum, as well as domesticated animals such as dogs and cats. New Zealand contains no snakes and has only one poisonous spider called the Katipo, which is related to the Australian Redback. The Katipo is very rare and its bite is never lethal.[/quote:2cqm0x1p]

So there you have it, we got two… that’s if Ryn’s alt hasn’t triple stabbed them all between then and the posting of this! Someone needs to tell him these ones won’t repop!

[quote:3jp2cltc]A NEW Zealand man has been charged with assault after he threw a hedgehog at a teenage boy.

“It hit the victim in the leg, causing a large, red welt and several puncture marks,’’ police sergeant Bruce Jenkins told the Herald on Sunday.

Shortly after throwing the animal, William Singalargh, 27, of Whakatane was arrested for assaulting the 15-year-old with a weapon.

It is not known whether the hedgehog. was dead or alive at the time, but it was dead after the incident when it was collected as evidence, the paper said.

Mr Singalargh’s lawyer Rebecca Plunket told the paper that her client would deny the charge, which carries a maximum five-year prison sentence, when he reappears in court on April 17. [/quote:3jp2cltc]

Can you believe this sht - Paris Hilton has been accepted to Harvard University… she never even passed her high school diploma, and had to sit GED in order to get it, known drug abuser, has a criminal record and has done jail time, yet Harvard takes her in.. fack Harvard, that so devalues their degree program. Meanwhile other people who score hugely on GMATs and already have graduate degrees don’t get in because they’re not from some wealthy family. Elitist a55holes. I really despise Paris Hilton, she is made a role model yet she represents everything wrong with youth today - believe they’re entitled to everything, are not willing to lift a finger to earn anything, and are dumb as a bag of hammers. Pathetic, absolutely pathetic. And what’s the bet, like G W Bush (who actually was rejected by state university before he went to ivy-league), she wont do any work, miss most of her lectures, and yet will somehow manage to pass with the minimum required C average, which will be awarded to her because she’s a Hilton. Yanks unearth Sox jersey at new stadium

Team officials watched Sunday as construction workers removed the jersey, with slugger David Ortiz’s name on it, from 2 feet of concrete in a service corridor of the stadium that’s under construction.

The team says a construction worker — who is a Red Sox fan — recently buried the jersey there while on the job. Two other supervisors found the tattered shirt Saturday.

The Yankees plan to donate the jersey to charity, and

Women’s Love Poem

Before I lay me down to sleep,

I pray for a man, who’s not a creep,

One who’s handsome, smart and strong

One who loves to listen long,

One who thinks before he speaks,

One who’ll call, not wait for weeks.

I pray he’s gainfully employed,

When I spend his cash, won’t be annoyed.

Pulls out my chair and opens my door,

Massages my back and begs to do more.

Oh! Send me a man who’ll make love to my mind,

Knows what to answer to ‘how big is my behind?’

I pray that this man will love me to no end,

And always be my very best friend.

Pelosi is a fapping b*tch. Months ago Pelosi screamed over and over (like the harpy she is) that Iran was not involved in supporting insurgents in Iraq, despite proof to the contrary, and accused Bush & co of manufacturing evidence in order to provoke hostilities with Iran and go ahead with the ‘surge’. Of course the MSM supported her, and a huge amount of the citizens of USA followed along with the spoonfed lies like a bunch of stupid lemmings.

Now the surge appears to have actually given results, guess what this b*tch Pelosi is saying now? She’s saying that “the success of the surge is due to the goodwill of the Iranians - that the Iranians decided in Basra when the fighting would end”. Yeah that’s right, According to Pelosi, the Iranians that were in no way involved in fighting in Basra, have stopped fighting in Basra. Unbelievable.

There is no way this hate-filled b*tch should be in the position she is, when clearly her judgment is clouded by her overwhelming hatred of anything to do with Bush or the military. IMPEACH PELOSI!

You’d be better off sitting back and enjoying your cup of coffee and enjoy the ride. The next 2-4 years will certainly “change” the way you have lived.

that Iran was not involved in supporting insurgents in Iraq, despite proof to the contrary,….Now the surge appears to have actually given results, [/quote:15j72vi3]

So which ones are the insurgents Weasel? The Shiites in the south, moktada al-sadr and his mahdi army in baghdad, the secular sunni’s in baghdad, the sunni tribesmen in the northwest, the al-qaeda aligned sunni elements (tiny in number), the kurdish separationists, or the oppressed turkmen in the north?

Which one are we helping to win? Which one is Iran helping to win? What does a win entail? What are these ‘results’ of which you speak and the ‘proof’? The situation is growing worse, not better and the political situation is still at a standstill. We’re still trying to subdue the Shiites in Bagdhad for Christ sake and they were the ones we were supposedly liberating!

Iran hasn’t attacked another country in modern history, however they were attacked by a US sponsored Iraq in the 80’s. They certainly have more of an interest in stability in Iraq than we do, given it’s on their border.

You sound like you know about as much as Pelosi or McCain.

I really hope you are kidding - have you had your head buried in the sand for the last month? Regardless, you completely ignored the subject of my post and made your ‘argument’ response about something else. I posted about PELOSI, not a fapping debate about the rights or wrongs of the war itself. If you’re going to make a response, at least try exercising a modicum of intelligence and make it relevant.

How about you go read my post again, then try looking at a newspaper - if you can find one that isn’t full of liberal bullsh*t - and you will know that the surge has worked in decreasing the violence in Iraq - there’s plenty of statistical and empirical evidence of that (heck, even Pelosi admits to that much!). You missed the point entirely though, which is this: Americans were being killed by Iranian supplied weapons and IEDs and EFPs - and there is no doubt about this. Who used those Iranian supplied weapons is not the point in this post, try as hard as you might to make it that point in your apparent defense of Pelosi. The point is Pelosi is crediting the huge decrease in violence to the very people who were effectively underwriting it, and that is after saying earlier they were not involved. How can ANYONE not see the sheer hypocrisy in that is beyond me, but apparently you can’t.

Why are you defending Iran? They have stated categorically they want to nuke Israel. They are killing American troops in a war zone. And you are defending them. What does that make you?

Get a fapping clue.

And for the record, I do not support McCain. I do not like war. BUT my post was about Pelosi. Period.

You’d be better off sitting back and enjoying your cup of coffee and enjoy the ride. The next 2-4 years will certainly “change” the way you have lived.[/quote:2dgyak4b]

So are you saying that Pelosi never made this statement? Take a listen if you like:

[url:2xqb0t7p]http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/blogs/sfgate/detail?blogid=5&entry_id=26858[/url:2xqb0t7p]

about point -61 minutes.

Are you saying there has been no decrease in violence in Iraq, specifically Basra?

Are you saying Iran has not supplied any weapons to insurgents in Iraq? (and it’s not relevant to this discussion which insurgents etc etc).

Nothing I have said is untrue or undocumented, so why are you telling me to stop watching Fox etc (BTW, I don’t watch Fox News at all). What was the point of your response? I think it’s disgraceful that the Leader of Congress and 3rd in line to the Presidency credits success specifically in Basra to “the goodwill of the Iranians” for stopping fighting, rather than crediting the US military surge, despite evidence (and despite that Iran are actually killing American soldiers by proxy), and she does so based apparently on her overwhelming anti-Bush anti-military sentiment, that has no basis in fact. Remember, this is after swearing black and blue that Iran is not involved in the conflict at all (and probably only denying Iran’s involvement because at the time Bush and the military said Iran [i:2xqb0t7p]is[/i:2xqb0t7p] involved - which only further backs up my point).

If someone wants to make an argument for Pelosi, please do so - I can’t see that anyone here has, as yet. All I’ve seen is all I’ve come to expect to see when anyone dares to question a liberal politician, which is pretty much ad hominem attacks and a complete failure to address the subject itself, which only further backs up my point. If only you could take those blinkers off for just 1 minute.

heh, and I don’t read Drudge either.

I just can’t fathom how anyone could fall for this cr@p, but clearly here are others that have fallen for it. Admitting there has been military success with the surge does not make you pro-war. Looking at the evidence and reaching a painfully obvious conclusion regarding Pelosi for some reason seems to be a monumental task for some.

You’re short-sighted. Some of your basic assumptions are totally false. And you don’t even seem to have a basic grasp of the facts. So, it’s not very fun trying to argue with you, but what the hell.

Let me see if I understand your point of view. (Can’t fault me for trying):

  1. Iran is training troops who occasionally engage in military action against our troops. They get involved in the local politics in the area that we militarily occupy, to our strategic disadvantage. Therefore: you view them as a hostile enemy.

  2. Iran is destabilizing Iraq. Either intentionally or unintentionally or both.

  3. Violence has decreased since we increased the frequency of troop redeployment, effectively increasing troop levels. Therefore: you view the current ‘surge’ strategy as a success.

  4. Troop fatalities have decreased. Therefore: you think that continuing the current strategy has a chance of success.

  5. The stability of Basra can be attributed to Amercan actions.

  6. Pelosi should be impeached because she credited the Iranians for the current “stability” in Iraq. You believe this is not only false, but Pelosi has overstepped her position in that her remarks are contrary to the current position of the White House and the State Department. These remarks could even be considered ’traitorous’, since Iran is our enemy.

  7. From 5 and 6 we can deduce that you think the political situation in Iraq is improving, despite the lack of any political motion in Baghdad or any agreements between the primary actors.

I hope I’m seeing your point of view correctly. Now just let me say that I agree with Pelosi and I think you’re wrong.

Now you can’t accuse me of changing the subject or painting a straw target.

Wow. For a start you are claiming I said some things which I never did. However, that was completely expected. Cutting to the chase, you say you agree with Pelosi and that I’m wrong, without giving one single reason or argument to support your opinion, and somehow think you’ve justified your stance??? Cutting it down, this is apparently what you believe:

(1) That Iran are not and were not involved in the fighting in Iraq in any way whatsoever, either by physical presence, or by supplying weapons or IEDs and EFPs, or by training, or any other way.

(2) That Iran, who are not involved in the fighting in Iraq in any way whatsoever as mentioned in point 1, should be credited for the dramatic decrease in fighting in Basra, the reason being because ..wait for it.. Iran have now decided to [i:1cymhrvk]stop[/i:1cymhrvk] fighting in Basra (either by proxy or otherwise) - that’s Basra, which is in Iraq, which is, according to you and Pelosi, where Iran is not fighting in the first place. Except they are. But they never were. But they’ve stopped now.

Please explain, and stop diverting away from the subject.

Might as well credit the decrease in fighting in Basra to a small uncontacted tribe in the Amazon. Just as logical.

Again, just to remind you, even Pelosi agrees there has been a dramatic decrease in fighting in the area since the surge, she just refuses to credit it to the surge. For some reason you seem to be insinuating there hasn’t even been a decrease now? Again you repeatedly try to divert away from the point of my original post. What a surprise.

You’re either being intentionally obtuse to wind me up, or you just can’t stand a liberal politician being shown to be a fool, or you have cognitive problems that are way beyond anything that can be helped on a forum.

Actually I’m just trying to figure out what you’re saying. I didn’t nail it? I haven’t tarred you or diverged from the topic. Quite the opposite in fact.

  1. I don’t disagree that Iran is seriously involved in Iraq. I don’t disagree that they’re training and arming hostile elements. I think we agree on that point.

  2. Basra has always been a fairly homogenous shiite bastion with historical religious ties to Iran. This is why the British were able to leave Basra without it totally unravelling. In case you didn’t know, it was British troops in the south and one of the reasons for the surge was fear of anarchy when the British pulled out. When the British left, the supply lines were temporarily vulnerable. This led to problems until the US was able to fill the vacant British positions. I don’t see this as some great military victory.

  3. Reduction in fighting != success. See Vietnam. You don’t measure success by body count or number of bullets fired. Success means accomplishing your objectives. At this late stage of our dramatic failure, success means getting out with some form of power sharing agreement between the factions that leads to some semblance of government. I hope we do succeed in this regard, but I’m not optimistic.

So how could I agree with Pelosi? Because Iraq is a lot more complicated than good guys and bad guys. If you forced me to say who the bad guys are, I’d have to say that we are. It’s a hard thing to admit. It’s also hard to admit that the Shiites appreciate Tehran’s help more than ours. It’s hard to admit that so many people have died for nothing, that our experiment with democracy by gunpoint has failed. It’s hard to admit that we have provoked a civil war in Lebanon and that where the country of Iraq used to be, is now a region torn by religious and ethnic conflict with no effective government whatsoever. Iran is trying to pick up the mess because they’re best suited for the task and they have the most interest in a peaceful outcome. You can safely ignore the ridiculous bellicose statements from the Iranian president. He is a moronic puppet engaging in political theatre; much like our own.

Ok, I’ll bow to your clearly advanced knowledge in the socio-political arena. I’m an inductee of 2 honor societies if that helps - one international, one American only, but neither for political science, and that’s definitely not my major, and never has been.

Pelosi’s position was that Iran was not involved in Iraq - at least that [i:2h90vder]was[/i:2h90vder] her position. The fact that you have just said that you agree that Iran [i:2h90vder]is[/i:2h90vder] seriously involved in Iraq means you do not actually agree 100% with what Pelosi has been saying in the past regarding Iran’s involvement.. which means that you do not actually agree with Pelosi after all, in which case we appear to be arguing the same point.

Ok, I guess I need to clarify. I’m not arguing about the wrong or the right of the war. I’m not arguing that Basra was previously under the thumb of the Brits. One of the reasons for the surge may well have been a reaction to the fear of anarchy after the Brit withdrawal, as you stated (probably more accurate to say [i:2h90vder]increased[/i:2h90vder] anarchy though, heh), however that is not the sole reason. One of the other reasons, or so I am led to believe, was to create a ‘buffer’ of peace to allow conditions to stabilize and thus to allow room for political discourse by the Iraqis themselves. I’m fairly confident that you would agree with me that this is also one of the reasons for the surge.

I don’t believe the surge was about ‘victory’ at all, it was about achieving a goal in order to (hopefully) enable a chance at stability in the region, because what we had been doing previously was clearly not working. In this light, yes, a reduction in fighting does equate to success - the surge has achieved what it was intended to do, and recent stats regarding fighting (particularly in Basra) clearly support that. How this relative peace is used and how [i:2h90vder]successfully[/i:2h90vder] it is used is yet to be seen, but in terms of the immediate reason (or one of the reasons) for the surge itself, it [i:2h90vder]has[/i:2h90vder] been a success. It is a step, and hopefully in the right direction.

The motives for Iran’s involvement are dubious at best, in terms of the interests of the US at least. I’m pleased we at least agree on President Ahmadinejad, and it looks like he now has a serious challenger in Ali Larijani come the next presidential elections in Iran. Here’s hoping.

But to the Pelosi issue, I think we’re actually on the same page. You [i:2h90vder]do[/i:2h90vder] agree that Iran is involved, which means you in fact [i:2h90vder]disagree[/i:2h90vder] with Pelosi (or at least Pelosi’s original claim). What angered me is that Pelosi, after making that claim loudly and repeatedly, now completely contradicts herself by stating that the decrease in fighting in Basra was thanks (at least in part) to the goodwill of Iran, who, Pelosi claims, decided when the fighting in Basrah would stop. Now clearly for Iran to be able to decide when the fighting stops means they are involved in it in some way, which is the polar opposite of what she previously claimed. It appears to me that she said this because she did not want to be proved wrong about her prior claims that the surge would also be a failure, which, as I believe I have explained above, it was not. (note: if you are saying that the surge had nothing whatsoever to do with the decrease in fighting, then we’ll just have to agree to disagree and leave it at that, but stats would argue the surge and the decrease in fighting are strongly linked). What this all melts down to is that Pelosi appears to be motivated not by facts, not by logic, not by evidence, not even by patriotism, but by some kind of blind rage against Bush, to the point she will deny any relative success being credited to Bush / military, even if it means completely contradicting herself and praising what is technically an enemy of the US, regardless of whether you or I think the US is right or wrong as far as the ‘big’ picture goes.

So.. you agree with me. At least indirectly. If you follow my reasoning. :D

[quote:2koi29lb]If you forced me to say who the bad guys are, I’d have to say that we are.[/quote:2koi29lb]

Yeah, we are a country who cut off the heads of those who don’t follow our religion. We refuse our women rights and force them to cover themselves from head to toe. We also, without doubt, deny the Jewish Holocaust and in fact, can’t wait to kill every last Jewish man, woman and child. We also believe in socialism and have forced 98% of our population to do what 2% of use want. For 100 bucks, who am I?

[quote:2koi29lb] Iran is trying to pick up the mess because they’re best suited for the task and they have the most interest in a peaceful outcome.[/quote:2koi29lb]

I can’t wait till America withdraws so i can invade and extend our government and it’s laws. Capitalism sucks! For 200 bucks, who am I?

[quote:2koi29lb]You can safely ignore the ridiculous bellicose statements from the Iranian president. He is a moronic puppet engaging in political theatre; much like our own. [/quote:2koi29lb]

Well, that’s a given. Just shows when you sleep with the enemy, don’t be surprised when they stab you in your sleep.

[quote:2koi29lb]I’m also a member of Pi Sigma Alpha, an honorary society of political scientists. I know a little bit more about the region than you’re likely to learn from Fox news or the 700 club. [/quote:2koi29lb]

Well, just having more book smarts doesn’t really mean squat. You might know where something is or who is there, but if you don’t know what the deal is, then what good is it? I do watch Fox News as well as CNN and Headline and BBC World just to get several different angles. Having said that, you can spin it anyway you want, but when Pelosi,Barrack,Hillary or McCain say/do something, how can you argue for them? Even though Furball didn’t stray from Pelosi, he might agree it doesn’t really matter who did/say what, they are all in bed together and just different shades of grey. In other words, we are pretty much f*cked.

[quote:2koi29lb]So which ones are the insurgents Weasel? H)all of the above

and to follow up, we are probably supporting who we think we can have more sway with. yeah it sucks.

I wonder what could have driven her to this behavior? And yeah I have no idea wtf she said really.

Facts are not used in politics for the most part. I also have a blind rage towards Bu$h- I’m biased and I know it, so don’t bother pointing it out.

Most “western politicians” that are put in power by elections don’t rely on facts but on perceptions. Who cares if your right as long as you do what people think is right (to get re-elected).

We made the taliban, we made Osama Bin Laden, we made Saddam Hussien. Why is it no one remembers the Oliver North trials.

And on the Pelosi thing, last I knew people were allowed to get more information and change their minds.

I once said I would never mud again, and yet I have changed my mind and returned to mudding after 5 yrs of no mud. So for this should I be persecuted for changing my mind and returning to mud or should I be welcomed that I saw the light.

In closing please vote in the coming election, no matter how you vote- just vote.

btw nice duds in the video Jon, could u make a few calls and get the price of gas down for me?

[quote:3alj0alf]And on the Pelosi thing, last I knew people were allowed to get more information and change their minds. [/quote:3alj0alf]

Unfortunately, she hasn’t changed her mind. She is a Socialist and is bound and determined to throw out the Constitution of the United States. I’m sure we will begin to see the beginnings of the end in the 3-4 months of 2009.

[quote:3alj0alf]In closing please vote in the coming election, no matter how you vote- just vote. [/quote:3alj0alf]

I’,m only speaking for myself, yet I hear the same reflection from people I don’t even know. Conclusion, being that there isn’t anyone worth voting for. I’d not going to vote so I can complain about whose screwing the country over. I don’t want to be the guy who voted for the man/woman in that is going to destroy this country.

Nods. I will be voting, but only at local / Congress level so at least we have a chance of getting a few intelligent people in Congress, and perhaps some hope after 2012, and I encourage all disenchanted voters to make the same effort. As far as the presidential position goes, I can see no viable option there, so it’ll just be left blank. I might have considered a write-in, but the one-arm bandit voting machines in use where I live don’t allow for that option.

[quote:5yqvlvyz]In closing please vote in the coming election, no matter how you vote- just vote. [/quote:5yqvlvyz]

Imho If you don’t vote then you have no right to bitch and complain. even if the one you vote for is the one screwing the country you still have the right to complain they did not live up to what you hoped. not voting because there is no viable candidate is a copout for pussies.

Have to agree to disagree. I don’t want to vote for someone that I think is definitely not fit for the job just because the alternative candidate is even worse. If I want to bitch about how badly they’re fing up the country later, I will do so because they are fing up the country badly, not because I was forced into voting for them when I didn’t believe they were right for the job.. I mean.. duh. As far as having the “right to complain they did not live up to what you hoped”, that would be true if I had any expectation of them to do a reasonable job, but at this moment, I do not. If Hitler and Idi Amin were the choices, would you vote for one of them just for the sake of voting?

Voting just for the sake of voting is ignorant.

Do vote though - there are many other positions besides President that can have a direct effect on your life. Remember, the presidency is not an autonomous position, there is a Congress to approve things, and that is really where your vote can count, even if you don’t have any faith in the presidential candidates.

[quote:z243aaix]Voting just for the sake of voting is ignorant. [/quote:z243aaix]

That about sums it up.

Apparently, Alias would. He doesn’t want to be a pussy.

heh you guys are really sad.

My grandpa told me never to argue with a moron, he said " They will drag you down to their level and beat you by virtue of experience.”

So, fellas feel free to not vote, just don’t complain to me.

heh.. if you can’t win an argument, insult the person instead. Good on ya Grandpa! The irony of calling us morons is kinda amusing though. :)

While Furball has a slightly different take on the coming elections than I do, he makes a more sound argument. I’m curious,Alias, which candidate are you standing behind. Each one has some major baggage and issues behind them. I’m not talking about they don’t butter their bread, but some serious flaws. And it doesn’t look like it’s going to get any better. So, with all due respect to your grandfather, he lived in simplier times. Sure, there was always danger in the world and corruption in politics BUT these days it’s off the scale. You can point fingers and call names all you want. You can’t even come up with a response as to why you would knowingly vote for someone who is going to screw you over…..big time.

I supported HillBear cuz I didn’t think Obama could win (black man named Barak Hussein Obama, left of the Clintons?)

Now that he’s the candidate, I sure hope to hell he wins.

My dream team ticket was Colbert/Daily.

Colbert/Huckabee would have been a interesting pick also.

side note- Barry says you can’t keep your air conditioner set at 72,drive what you want and eat what you want cause someone from another country says it ain’t right. Last time I looked, this was America (distorted I know) but who the hell is he to tell me I gotta ask Hodji if its alright if I have an extra burger? And that’s just scraping the surface.

Next!

Alright, I apologize to Krom. The rest of you are a bunch of critical morons who don’t deserve my company any longer. Take care…. Thank you for removing the two posts I had put onto that Last thread of mine Krom. Just because it makes Yinao look really REALLY stupid. Wonderful day, to well.. none of you. Cya

You can’t get the last word here, no matter how hard you try. This is our forum. We are staying. You are leaving (by your own free choice I might add). We will continue to play the game and post here about the game long after you are gone. No one here cares about your thoughts on warrior skills or anything else. So just leave already. Bye. Adios. Take care. Peace out. Good luck. So long. Farewell. Ma’ Salama. Vaya con dios.

In my experience with Sloth and other net communities, very few people that post anything after their original “goodbye” post actually leave.

I tend to liken it to bands that have multiple “final” concerts. Once they see the attention they get from announcing they’re not going to be around any longer, they quickly rethink the whole thing.

Iran protests to UN over Israel attack warning

AFP

Sunday, June 8, 2008

Iran protested to the United Nations on Saturday over a warning by an Israeli minister that it faces attack over its contested nuclear programme, the official IRNA news agency reported.

The protest came in a letter from Iran’s mission at the United Nations to the UN Security Council and UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon, it said.

“The Israeli regime has been emboldened by the Security Council’s indifference and… in blatant violation of the principles of the United Nations continues to threaten Iran with force,” the protest said.

t urged a “firm response” from the Security Council to the remarks from Israeli deputy prime minister Shaul Mofaz, who is also transport minister.[/quote:2is5z8qn]

Is this the same Iran who week after week, month after month, year after year threatens to wipe Israel off the map?

Iran: We will destroy the foul Israel. Wipe it off the map.

Israel: Are these guys serious?

Iran: Israel is like foul swine. It shall be burned to the ground.

Israel: Does this guy need meds?

Iran: Die you jewish scum.

Israel: This is getting a bit out of hand.

Iran: Shut up, your scared and your time is coming.

Israel: I think they might be serious , enriching uranium and all.

Iran: We will soon conquer Israel and kill the foul vermin jews.

Israel: Ok thats enough your gonna get bombed.

Iran: OOOOH please UN help us from the great perpetrators.

Israel: Is Iran crying like bitches?

Iran: sniffle

Israel: LOL

LOL

Funny.

I think Iran’s in the stronger position here, even if Israel bombs em.

You can bet online on whether it will happen or not at [url:x17iskbb]http://www.intrade.com[/url:x17iskbb] .

You used to be able to use a checkcard from an american bank and gamble on political/economic events. But last year the American banks started blocking the transactions

Israel bombing Iran is only going for 22 points before September of this year and for 28 points for December. I’m surprised it’s not higher given the news. My advice would be to wait until the first of 09 and if Israel hasn’t done it yet, buy up the new contract fast and then sell when it starts to peak again in the summer.

ONLY IN AUSTRALIA…

A MAN bitten on the penis by a deadly snake has told how he used a cold rum can to soothe the pain while he rang his mother to say a final goodbye.

“I thought I was gone,” Daryl Zutt said of his now notorious encounter with a brown snake during a roadside toilet stop in remote far north Queensland, The Cairns Post reported.

“I thought, ‘Maybe, this is it. Maybe, I’m gonna cark it’.”

The Cairns Post revealed details of the bizarre encounter two weeks ago but the identity of the victim remained unknown until Mr Zutt came forward to tell how the brown snake took a near-fatal swipe as he relieved himself.

“I squatted down … I reckon I must’ve nearly sat on his head,” he said.

“As soon as I felt it, I yelled.

“It really hurt.

“When it happened, I knew in the back of my mind it was a snake.

“I seen him coming out from between my legs.”

He said he tried to remain calm as he inspected the damage.

“He got me about halfway down,” he said. “I saw fang marks and a bit of blood come out.”

Mr Zutt’s friend drove him to a medical centre before he was moved to a hospital for further tests which showed he was not envenomated.

“They’ve been saying things like ‘It was a trouser snake fight’ and ‘He (the snake) saw the competition and got scared’,” Mr Zutt said.

“Once they knew I was right, the jokes came out.”

Bleah. Being a murder suspect really sucks. My roomie didn’t come home last night. People at her work freaked and contacted her family. Then some guy from the bar she was at said she mentioned she was having a fight with her room-mate. Family starts suggesting that I killed her. After two hours of insanity they found her at a friends house. At which point I cursed them all out and tossed their asses out the door.

Strange day.

I hope you got rid of her as a flatmate, not just kicked her family out. And if the family made their accusations public, feel free to sue them if you can prove it adversely affected you in some way.

Actually it got worse. She came home with one of her sisters in tow and they insisted that I should move out this weekend. I pointed out that she owed me 500. The family payed me and I’m moving out this weekend. It’s tres bizarre.

She’s all bent because I told her she’s becoming a drunken bar wench and she can’t crash drunken idiots on the sofa outside my room nemore. She’s a server and would invite drunks home, so she could cook for them and frustrate them by putting them downstairs by me. After I made this rule, she blamed me because some guy got to 3rd base with her. Said it wouldn’t have happened if I’d been reasonable…

I would never sue ne1 for anything. Not my style. I’ll just move.

Sheesh, probably best idea to bail - she sounds like a bit of a nut.. mixed messages etc etc..

[i:245fmltz]The Murchison meteorite was a meteorite that entered Earth’s atmosphere in September 1969. The meteor fragmented before impact and remnants were recovered near Murchison, Australia (located about 60 mi [96.5 km] north of Melbourne). The fragments recovered dated to nearly five billion years ago—to the time greater than the estimated age of Earth. In addition to interest generated by the age of the meteorite, analysis of fragments revealed evidence of carbon-based compounds. Splitting hairs but proof of life before humans or other than human does not disprove nor prove the existence of God or any other diety. As a Christian, I am open to the idea of both. Genesis states that before Adam was created, that there was life. I’m also open to the idea that ’life’ elsewhere. I’ve read versions of theories where angels who were thrown out of Heaven created life elsewhere. Both theories could be true or untrue. As far as Jezer posting thoughts, more power to him. At least he has some. It’s good to think outside the box and to post suggestions both good and bad.

If you believe the universe is infinite, then the chances of there [i:1jawk9j4]not[/i:1jawk9j4] being life elsewhere (in some form) is impossible.

Happy Birthday, Herman Minkowski ![/color:2a8nygbj]

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hermann_Minkowski

By 1907 Minkowski realized that the special theory of relativity, introduced by Einstein in 1905 and based on previous work of Lorentz and Poincaré, could be best understood in a four dimensional space, since known as “Minkowski spacetime”, in which the time and space are not separated entities but intermingled in a four dimensional space-time, and in which the Lorentz geometry of special relativity can be nicely represented. The beginning part of his address delivered at the 80th Assembly of German Natural Scientists and Physicians (September 21, 1908) is now famous:

"[i:2a8nygbj]The views of space and time which I wish to lay before you have sprung from the soil of experimental physics, and therein lies their strength. They are radical. Henceforth space by itself, and time by itself, are doomed to fade away into mere shadows, and only a kind of union of the two will preserve an independent reality.[/i:2a8nygbj]"

wikipedia digital angel

Digital Angel GPS and RFID products enable the rapid and accurate identification, location tracking, and condition monitoring of people. Applications of our products include identification and monitoring of pets and fish with implantable RFID microchips, identification of livestock with our ear tags, GPS based search and rescue beacons for aircraft, ships, boats, and individuals.[quote:3bn45o62]In the event of another high level terrorist attack on the United States, Digital Angel has procured the rights for any forcible implanting of microchips into the current population.[/quote:3bn45o62][/color:3bn45o62]

It’s never wise to quote wikipedia..

It’s going to happen sooner or later anyway.

The utilitarian applications of implanted ID are numerous enough to conceal any hidden agenda for wanting to put them in people.

There’s also every reason to believe that eventually a world event will be manipulated to justify something along those lines. Oppression frequently begins under the guise of protection, or a true desire to protect, but the ultimate conclusion of steadily increasing protection is a cage.

[\paranoia]

I think I’ve posted this before…

“A democracy is always temporary in nature; it simply cannot exist as a permanent form of government. A democracy will continue to exist up until the time that voters discover that they can vote themselves generous gifts from the public treasury. From that moment on, the majority always votes for the candidates who promise the most benefits from the public treasury, with the result that every democracy will finally collapse due to loose fiscal policy, (which is) always followed by a dictatorship.”

“The average age of the worlds greatest civilizations from the beginning of history, has been about 200 years. During those 200 years, these nations always progressed through the following sequence:

From Bondage to spiritual faith;

From spiritual faith to great courage;

From courage to liberty;

From liberty to abundance;

From abundance to complacency;

From complacency to apathy;

From apathy to dependence;

From dependence back into bondage.”

IMHO, we’re (USA) somewhere on the last two lines, and dangerously close to falling into ‘bondage’ or dictatorship of some form. Very few people seem to care though.. I imagine this next 4 years will certainly take us well into the realm of dependence as government take over more and more..

Agreed.

That’s a good way of explaining it.

Yeah, that’s pretty smart… for a rodent. :D

“finger lickin good” -balthazar –> constantine

I heard Obama do his speel on the radio this morning on my way to work… It’s constantly on the news here in Australia. I must say I was somewhat amused by his speech…

“But I come before you to say that we are heirs to a struggle for freedom. We are a people of improbable hope. Let us build on our common history, and seize our common destiny, and once again engage in that noble struggle to bring justice and peace to our world!”

I would have loved to have had my face painted blue, yelled “freedom” at the top of my lungs, and then charged into the crowd mocking braveheart after this speech. It was like a wanna be, “I have a dream - Martin Luther” type speech. I was almost to the point of laughing out loud when I heard it. I mean I don’t fall either way… this is US politics… I’m not even that interested in my own countries politics… But I found this hugely funny all the same. I can’t believe people buy this stuff.

I’m not saying the guy is the best man in the US for the job..

there are a couple things I have heard about him that I don’t like,

but shit….McCain? No thanks.

here are a few of the many things that disturb me about obama: he refuses to recite the pledge of allegiance, sing the national anthem or wear the flag of the united states lapel pin because he is “afraid of offending someone” yet at one of his photo-op press conferences, one of his staffers asked a couple of veiled muslim ladies to please move because their visible presence on camera behind obama could potentially embarrass him or something equally similar and juevenile. mind you, to the blind eyes of the politically correct flocks of sheep nowadays, very few people seem to notice or even think twice about these “minor details” but these things strike a wrong chord with me.

how is it offensive to be proud of the country you are supposed to be leading? how offensive is it to show support of the citizens who elected you? how about standing up for americans, mr obama?

granted, i understand there are far more important issues that i should be concerned with, but i am nevertheless disturbed and wish to babble pointlessly.

So then what does this mean?

[img:2dngi9k8]http://www.lapelpin08.com/wp-content/uploads/2008/04/mccain08lapelpin.jpg[/img:2dngi9k8]

Well, it wasn’t world leader types he was addressing, it was 200k people that were there for 2 concerts that were being thrown, to which he gave a short speech at the conclusion or perhaps intermission. Again, I not really a supporter of McCain, but Obama has been quoted on making several issues that YOU Mr. American, have NO right to that 2nd hamburger, NO right to having your AC set at 68, NO right to drive that full-size vehicle because people in other countries don’t approve. This guy plain stinks….he is playing politics and I guess I would give him kudos for doing so, but I don’t like politicians. He has managed to keep his wife out of the news from making embarassing statements and quelling rumors on his other “acquaintances” but look at who he has surrounded himself with…the apple doesn’t fall far from the tree. On a personal note for me,the fact that he supports partial-birth abortions is enough for me to pass on him in any other issues. I don’t mean to bring religion in at the this point because I do believe to each his own, but I fail to believe this guy is Christain the way he claims to be…now if he isn’t, no biggie, but don’t claim to be something that your not.. you lose all credibility on all points when you do so.

Eddie: They’re armed.

Soap: What was that? Armed? What do you mean armed? Armed with what?

Eddie: Err, bad breath, colorful language, feather duster… what do you think they’re gonna be armed with? Guns, you tit!

“Hatchet” Harry: You must be Eddie, J.D.’s son.

Eddie: Yeah. You must be Harry. Sorry, didn’t know your father.

“Hatchet” Harry: Never mind son, you just might meet him if you carry on like that.

Tom: Listen to this one then; you open a company called the Arse Tickler’s Faggot Fan Club. You take an advert in the back page of some gay mag, advertising the latest in arse-intruding dildos, sell it a bit with, er… I dunno, “does what no other dildo can do until now”, latest and greatest in sexual technology. Guaranteed results or money back, all that bollocks. These dills cost twenty-five each; a snip for all the pleasure they are going to give the recipients. They send a cheque to the company name, nothing offensive, er, Bobbie’s Bits or something, for twenty-five. You put these in the bank for two weeks and let them clear. Now this is the clever bit. Then you send back the cheques for twenty-five pounds from the real company name, Arse Tickler’s Faggot Fan Club, saying sorry, we couldn’t get the supply from America, they have sold out. Now you see how many of the people cash those cheques; not a single soul, because who wants his bank manager to know he tickles arses when he is not paying in cheques!

Bacon: What’s that?

Samoan Joe’s Barman: It’s a cocktail. You asked for a cocktail.

Samoan Joe’s Barman: You want a pint, you go to the pub.

Bacon: I thought this was a pub!

Samoan Joes Barman: It’s a Samoan pub.

Disabled turtle finds romance after getting wheels[/size:3eewvhpt]

JERUSALEM - Arava the disabled turtle is using her new set of wheels to get around in more ways than one. Officials at the Jerusalem Biblical Zoo say the 10-year-old spurred tortoise has begun mating since being fitted with a custom skateboard to overcome paralysis of her hind legs.

Arava arrived in Jerusalem a few months ago from a petting zoo in southern Israel with the unexplained handicap, and found no reptile romance. Zoo curator Shmulik Yedvad says it’s not that Arava has come out of her shell with her unique new wheelchair, but that a particularly amorous 10-year-old male has been after her.

Boy wreaks zoo havoc while feeding croc[/size:we5dj8jv]

CANBERRA (Reuters) - The parents of a 7-year-old boy who broke into an Australian outback zoo and fed a string of small animals to its resident crocodile are likely to be sued after police said the boy was too young to be held responsible.

A turtle, four western blue tongue lizards, two bearded dragons, two thorny devil lizards and an adult female Spencer’s goanna were fed or led into the jaws of a three-foot, 440 pound saltwater crocodile named “Terry.”[/color:we5dj8jv]

Security camera footage at the Alice Springs Reptile Center showed the smiling youngster also bludgeoning to death[/color:we5dj8jv] a small blue tongue lizard and two more thorny devils during a half-hour of breakfast-time havoc last Wednesday.

“The fact a 7-year-old can wreak so much havoc in such a short time, it’s unbelievable. In my day he’d get a big boot up the arse[/color:we5dj8jv],” center director Rex Neindorf told Reuters by phone.

The boy was unknown at the center and had “clammed up” [/color:we5dj8jv]when questioned by police on what sparked the rampage, he said.

DESPITE being shot twice during an ambush in Afghanistan, an SAS soldier lashed himself to the front of his patrol vehicle so he wouldn’t be left behind if he passed out from loss of blood and kept on fighting.

The Digger is expected to be recommended for a high level bravery award.

Suffering from serious upper body wounds, the soldier struggled on to the front of his SAS long range patrol vehicle (LRPV) and, under heavy fire, used a rope to attach himself firmly between the vehicle’s bull bar and radiator.

Once he was secured, and there was no chance that he would fall off if he fainted, he picked up his rifle and resumed firing at the enemy during a two-hour fighting withdrawal.

SAS troops and their special forces comrades from the Commando Regiment are well aware of the slow and painful death that awaits them if they are captured by the Taliban.

The Digger, who cannot be identified, faded in and out of consciousness, emptying several magazines as volleys of enemy rounds and rocket propelled grenades, rained down around him.

He was finally evacuated from the battle field at high speed still lashed to the front of the LRPV.

The future, according to some scientists, will be exactly like the past, only far more expensive.

I caught the tail end of a conversation on the radio today regarding something about Australia blocking internet content blah blah. Is this something that has happened rather recently or has it already been in place for awhile. Just curious, the story being reported was that US was already headed in this direction to censor a huge amount of websites currently availible. All part of the Fairness Doctrine would-be king Osama has already stated it would the one of many changes he would immediately implement. This along with his 250,000 “volunteer peace force” that will match the strength of the army. The same army he is also planning on budget cutting by 25%. Good times!!!!

I swear the only news tap reads is about Australia :D

Where do you find this stuff? No, not heard of this story either… although I quite believe the “censorship ideas” have been kicked around by a few politicians. Recently the government provided free web filtering software for those who wanted it, on a “here it is if you want it/download it free basis”… but once again you’ve lost me. :)

would-be king Osama has already stated it would the one of many changes he would immediately implement. This along with his 250,000 “volunteer peace force” that will match the strength of the army.[/quote:1bb2frxk]

because ‘O’ decided that Hitler’s one mistake was not making the SS big enough.

Of course, if you were being censored you wouldn’t even know it. Oh well..ignorance is bliss.

There were some good points made about that earlier this month here[/url:3j23s1v2].

ISP’s won’t support it, neither will majority of Australia. Our prime minister likes himself too much to have the public hating him. Only people in favor probably be some unmarried lady politician who coincidentally can’t use a computer, or has two brain cells to rub together to produce a s p a r k of intelligence to understand the costs and opposition of such a plan.

I mean who is putting forward the plan… “Doreen and Wal of South Australia… sponsored by the local Methodist church?” Typical of the stories Tap spends his time dredging for on the internet to mix with his half truths and biased point of views.

If this had any chance of getting off the ground, we would of heard about it from the media… who are well know as being outspoken about there freedom of speech… and since we haven’t… guess the idea is just that… and they aren’t seeing it as a creditable threat to even put in the mainstream media.

Plans like this get talked about all the time in practically all western countries… they rarely get off the ground… although I have to admit, they get closer and closer each time… :?

This is for Tap… Straight from the web page of the current Government… what you heard on the radio was probably scare mongering by free speech groups. The government says you can opt out or in… but of course… these people… whose favorite movie also happens to be conspiracy theory… are all worried about there rights…

[url:3ddfyx9w]http://alp.net.au/media/0708/mscoit290.php[/url:3ddfyx9w]

The Minister for Broadband, Communications and the Digital Economy, Senator Stephen Conroy today welcomed a report demonstrating advances in internet content filtering technologies.

“The internet is a wonderful tool that is delivering benefits to increasing numbers of Australian families but the Government wants to find ways to make it safer, particularly for children. This report will assist the Government to deliver on its election commitment to create a safer online environment,” Senator Conroy said.

Senator Conroy today released the findings of the report by the Australian Communications and Media Authority (ACMA), Closed Environment Testing of ISP-Level Internet Content Filtering.

The report details the results of extensive laboratory tests into the current effectiveness of commercial Internet Service Provider (ISP) filtering products.

ISP filtering is one element of the Government’s $125.8 million Plan for Cyber-Safety which also includes education, international cooperation, research and law enforcement.

“The next step is to test filter technologies in a real world environment with a number of ISPs and internet users,” Senator Conroy said.

[b:3ddfyx9w]The Australian Government is committed to ensuring all Australian families can utilise ISP filters that block prohibited content as identified by the Australian Communications and Media Authority. Families should also be able to access filters that can be customised to block more material if they choose.[/b:3ddfyx9w]

Tests undertaken during the laboratory investigation found that the quality of ISP-level filtering technology has significantly improved compared with the technology used in a previous trial conducted in 2005.

“It is very encouraging to see that the industry has made significant progress with ISP filtering products and we are heartened that many of the products tested are commercially available, with many of them already deployed overseas,” Senator Conroy said.

The results in the ACMA trial were based on illegal and inappropriate content. The tests included filtering over and above simple black-list filtering, and the trial did not specifically test the impact of black-list filtering on its own.

“Filtering specifically against a black-list of illegal content as well as the ability to filter additional material will be one part of the upcoming pilot trial,” Senator Conroy said.

“We are interested to see the results of filtering in real-world conditions and I encourage ISPs to participate. This will enable the implementation of ISP filtering in Australia to be undertaken in an informed and effective way.”

An Expression of Interest request will be released shortly seeking participation in the live pilot from ISPs.

The ACMA report Closed Environment Testing of ISP-Level Internet Content Filtering can be accessed via the ACMA website:

Can’t you see, it’s an opt in safety scheme for families to protect children from pr0ns and dangerous people like you on the internet. Where is there a single scrap of evidence to say it’s mandatory and being put in place for everyone? Your full of crap as usual.

I admit I am biased, I favor free speech. Sorry if you take offense to my half-truths but I wasn’t stating a fact, just asking a question about something that I caught the tail end of a conversation. I thought perhaps since you were from Australia you might be able to clue me in. I’m surprised at the defensive stance you seem to have taken. What are YOU hiding? hmmmm..

Lying and misrepresentation really annoy me, so whether your just misinformed, playing the rogue or just lying… expect me to put you straight. I’m very defensive… but only cause history has shown your deviant form.

It’s the way people put forward information, some ways are just slimey and devious, seemingly realishing the chance to see humanity fail, but pretending to be helpful while doing it. Something darker and deceptive that almost finds pleasure in the downfall… a little bit like…

[img:3o3cu3uf]http://www.thinkersroom.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2007/08/smeagol.jpg[/img:3o3cu3uf]

Relish the chance to see humanity fail? You have me confused with those people who stocked up on toilet paper and water when Y2K was going to end the world. Fear is a funny thing, some people embrace it in hopes of bowing down and not being affected. Others, such as myself, fear the unknown especially when certain details make themselves availble. I fear for the future that my kids will have to face if certain aspects take place. As someone who loves life, when I am told that I will NOT be allowed to live that life ever again and that I have no say in the matter..well yeah…it does grab my attention. People are sheep for the most part..when they become complacent and lazy they turn a blind eye to the raging storm headed their way…well my friend…my eyes are open. I hope I am wrong about what I think is coming but if I’m right…well..I am going to do what I can to spread the message so hopefully others can prepare themselves.

[quote:3rlz7u2t]You’ve suggested pthiefs made players better. [/quote:3rlz7u2t]

Now who is the one misinforming. I have never suggested that. I’ve only suggested that they were a fun feature. I’m talking about the thief that actually stayed ingame and hid and darted around not the one that hid in a vault or found a way to “rent”. And thats just an opinion, I was thinking along the lines of killing the occasional monotony. Hell, I bet some players enjoyed chasing down a pthief and smacking them around. Kind of like the fox and the chicken blah blah…

psps- Pthievery hasn’t even been ingame in what 2-3 years?…Dude, let it go.

Things were also exciting when psteal was ingame. When there aren’t groups or group that are closed, solo’ing can, at time, be boring/frustrating. However, pthievery always seemed to keep people on their toes and gave the soloers and groups alike something to keep their eye out for.[/quote:3s020934]

Yeah, good old pthiefs, always keeping us alert…Oh, they just stole my keychain, hahaha, how funny…

But by far my favourite was one of your former posts….

[quote:3s020934]Australia blocking internet content blah blah. [/quote:3s020934]

Internet blocking in Australia… hmm, no but… reading on…

[quote:3s020934]US was already headed in this direction[/quote:3s020934]

Oh, now we are all of a sudden linked to the US…

[quote:3s020934]Osama has already stated it would the one of many changes he would immediately implement.[/quote:3s020934]

Oh, Osama is now linked through Australia’s Internet blocking…

[quote:3s020934]This along with his 250,000 “volunteer peace force” that will match the strength of the army.[/quote:3s020934]

Now internet blocking in Australia is linked with similarities between Obama’s “volunteer peace force” - (is that overtones to Hitlers SA as well I sense?)

[quote:3s020934]The same army he is also planning on budget cutting by 25%.[/quote:3s020934]

Oh noes, this guy is real bad! We believe you!

And there you have it, how Australia’s internet censorship has lead to the rise of Obama, a Nazi like Dictator who knows nothing about the economy.

Classic Tap

Given a rat with one eye, named smokey and well read version of Moby Dick, Tap will now attempt to explain to us how small holes appeared in the ozone layer above Antarctica. Over to you Tap… :P

Congragulations, you’ve completely missed the point. You seem to think I am bashing Australia by asking about something I heard. If I wanted to bash Australia, I could point out how just today, a news article gave details how a person with down syndrome was denied citizenship due to the increase cost of healthcare to the community. Now, I didn’t realize there was an epidemic of such persons seeking citizenship to your lovely island. But did I bash ya? No. You seem to be unable to collect your thoughts and respond accordingly, perhaps you should take a break and go “pound one out”

Check out this racist conservative Republican.

This guys ideas are crazy!!!

So what is the platform of the Republican party. Can anyone actually tell me that? It seems to me they aren’t for anything, they’re just against not being in power.

And what are you trying to imply by your sarcasm about this guy being racist and crazy? I don’t get it. I don’t think this guy is particularly intelligent or interesting. He’s just another moron like Joe the Plumber and the log cabin republicans and all you right wing jokers that post your nonsensical blather on the crier.

I think this guy explains a viewpoint of some Democratic voters. What can I get? The historical icon JFK said “Ask not what your country can do for you, but what you can do for your country”. The Democrat party has turned its face to show its ass to JFK. Let’s vote for more welfare and more redistribution. Let’s take money from someone with 2 jobs and give it to someone with no job. Let’s tax big business and force them to raise prices on consumer staples, but we will promise to raise minimum wage which in turn also raises the cost of cheap goods.

Im not sure what I have posted that is nonsensical. Also I cannot speak for the Republican party. I thought they were for less government and free markets, capitalism and the Constitution. However these recent years have made me rethink the position. I don’t vote for people who think that high taxes will solve all the problems. We tried it, other countries try it, it doesn’t work. I am beyond voting over abortion/gun issues. They are going to do what they want anyways and the Republicans could give a shit about either issue. If they did they would have done something in the last 20 years about it.

I thought Republicans were for less spending and less taxes, less federal government. States rights and allowing local governments to see their own tax dollars instead of it going to a big city project. I thought Republicans were against socialization of business and markets. I was wrong. I voted for Ron Paul. Go ahead and poke fun of me. He was one of the few people who actually voted against the war. Did Obama vote against the war? No he wasn’t even in federal office at the time. Dr. Paul actually believes in something called sound money. That is where the government, regardless of which party is in power, cannot using monetary policy to deflate the currency, hence raising inflation. Seriously look it up. As long as we continue to the the politicians print money the rising inflation will only make the poor suffer even more due to rising costs of every day goods. I vote for less spending, less printing money, less of your hands in my pot.

What is up with the attacks on poor Joe. All he did was ask a question about the Obamas tax plan. If your version of free speech is to attack some labor worker over a question…. We better keep our mouths shut our else. When did opposing viewpoints turn into such a hatred/ignorance of the point.

You can call me a joker if it makes you feel better. The methods of attack and ridicule don’t work on me because I could care less.

In closing anyone on here with an opposing viewpoint has yet to state it. There has been blatant name calling and otherwise bullshit tossed around and that is it. Nobody here, and I repeat Nobody can explain how raising taxes on corporations will benefit the working class. The corporations will simply raise the cost of the goods, slash workforce, or move operations overseas. All three of these items are detrimental to the economy. In theory the government gets more revenue, in practice money switches hands less and is therefore taxed less times. There is no way to argue that raising taxes and basically stealing from one person will solve any problems. All it will accomplish is less people trying to make the big money which will mean less money for the government to tax in the end. If they took everyone in the country’s wealth it wouldn’t be enough to run the government for more than a year. Then with everyone poor there would be no one to offer a job, or even charity. Prove to me that the government has a better plan and can implement any plan better than Katrina or the Iraq war. Blaming Bush won’t work, there are 535 other people involved plus UN Charters and other legal framework that was started in the Clinton administration. Seriously give some facts about another country or government that has socialized(stole) its peoples wealth. When a mass exodus of capital occurs due to scared business from socialist policies you can continue to blame Bush.

I try to argue facts not toss blame and post bs.

There’s this thing called the middle class and it is not a natural result of the ‘hidden hand of the market’; its an artificial and necessary construct. Without it, we exist in a feudal system where workaday serfs labor for the benefit of corporate lords. You don’t agree? You think the economy performed better under Bush than Clinton? You think the Bush tax cuts for the ultra-wealthy were good for the nation as a whole and should be made permanent?

And by the way, posting a bunch of lies and bs about the liberal point of view (your ‘facts’) is just as much an insult as my calling you stupid. So don’t even try to play the victim card. You’ve always been an unapologetically abrasive. To hear you whine about name calling, just makes me laff. If you can’t take it. Don’t dish it out. Sooner or later you right wing nutjobs are going to realize that the neo-conservative movement was on the wrong side of history.

Joe the plumber is just some putz who’s too slow to realize he’d benefit more under Democratic leadership. The Republican party made him their pet and is sending him around the country in a van to share his uninformed point of view on the economy and foreign policy. Maybe they should make him a cabinet member. Apparently education, inteligence, and experience don’t count for anything in Republican circles. Just look at Sarah Palin. Anyone who thinks this woman is qualified for the office of the president of the United States of America is deluded.

I could post blunt hardcore facts that prove what I want to say. And some will turn around and punch Rush Limbaugh sized holes in them. So I will spare my time and energy on that, and skip to the next step. To paraphrase Right Wing politics of the last 8 years have failed, free market capitalism has failed, and this country appears to be choosing to move in another direction.

Joe the Plummer, isnt even a Joe his name is Samuel. He his behind $1800 to the IRS on his taxes. So Samuel the I work for a plumming company just doesnt want to pay taxes. The question he asked is IF he ever buys a company which he currently cant. Lame lame lame. I look forward to earning $250,000 profit after expenses and my new tax bracket.

I could care less what corporations are taxed, they will move jobs overseas taxed or not to make more money for themselves. They also shouldnt be stashing money in offshore accounts. Corporations and CEO’s need a kick in the ass to start creating American jobs. Cutting their taxes for the last 8 years put us where we are now. Didnt work.

So where does this all end up. No-one here is going to convince a majority to think the same way they do.

I suggest to everyone in this thread to enjoy the game that you came here to play. Spout the politics somewhere else. You can do it, and this game can be a fun place to relax and escape away from the political issues in this world.

Mud hard, have fun.

..He’s just another moron like Joe the Plumber..[/quote:212sliat]

Explain why ‘Joe the Plumber’ is a moron. Because he dare asked a question that exposed Obama for the socialist he is? Other than that, I can see no reason whatsoever for you calling him a moron, other than your apparent vile and rabid hatred for anyone that does not support Obama. Please, correct me if I’m wrong.

@ Medios:

McCain I do not believe represents the Republican party or conservatism. The main thing working for him right now is that he is less left than Obama. If it weren’t for that one point, quite likely the majority of Republicans wouldn’t be voting for him either - many consider him a Republican in name only. That is my impression anyway.

One other thing Medios, don’t hold your breath waiting for any rationalization from a Obama cultist, beyond ‘McCain is Bush’ or ‘Obama is a great orator’, followed by some ad hominem attacks. LOL.

@ Juggleblood:

Regarding Taxes and the middle class - explain how 95% of workers will pay less taxes under Obama, when currently 40% of workers pay zero tax. Please, I’d love to know. Also you might want to look up a little thing called payroll tax and then take another look at Obama’s plans in more detail, if he’ll let anyone see them. Some may end up paying less [i:212sliat]income[/i:212sliat] tax, but all will end up with less take-home pay because Obama has tricked you by reclassifying some of the tax into payroll tax instead of income tax, which, by the way, you get no exemption on. But I guess you’d rather call me a liar and a racist.

@ Whoever:

I don’t give a flying fcuk if Joe the Plumber is a bathroom attendant, it really doesn’t matter, what matters is what Obama responded to him, which no Obama cultist will address, and when pressed, usually will go on some screaming tirade against all Republicans and how stupid and ignorant everyone is but themselves and their fellow cultists, as we have seen on this very thread. How dare ‘Joe’ ask a question that caused Obama to expose himself for what he is! Blasphemy! Next you’ll be wanting to have him publicly stoned (and I don’t mean with drugs).

Damn, I really didn’t want to post on this thread again.

You can’t define a whole class as there are extremes in each case however for the most part:

  1. Republicans don’t want a handout from the government. They prefer to get things done on their own and not be babysat.

  2. Democrats want to resort to name calling and threats when you don’t agree with them. When they are cornered they tend to rely on some type of “bias” card to get themselves out of the focus.

  3. Republicans don’t want to censor people and keep information one-sided. They are content that anyone can voice an opinion without retribution.

  4. Democrats oddly enough only want information that aids their own agenda. Any bump in the road and all hell breaks loose. Say what you want about Joe the plumber, he managed to throw a curve ball to Osama that the media didn’t have time to throw a blanket on. Response? Attack Joe the plumber’s credibility and character assassination. On a side note, Osama having 3 major newspapers thrown off his airplane because they didn’t support him….all I can say is snicker

  5. As far as McCain is concerned, he is definitely less of the two evils…he may be doing a better job of hiding his background but he doesn’t blatanty associate with known terrorist. He doesn’t claim to be a Christian in name only. He doesn’t claim to have all the answers and wave a magic wand and poof all our problems disappear.

I could go on but I agree whats the point… Wednesday morning is going to be interesting…already it is being reported that should Osama win, the stock market will take a huge plunge…that nasty capitial gains tax that Osama is promising.

oh yeah 6) as far as I know McCain isn’t wanting to punish anyone for being successful although I could be wrong

On the plus side…Bush could always declare martial law and stay in office!!!

He is an idiot because he oversimplifies complex issues on which he really doesn’t know anything and says stupid things. Much like you when you rant about Obama being a socialist and call all his supporters cultists despite the fact that the majority of country is rallying behind him for very pragmatic reasons or when you repeat the ridiculous things the McCain campaign is saying about Obama being a terrorist or a commie or that he’s going to ruin the economy with high taxes, when the rates he’s proposing are lower than Ronald Reagan’s. A large percentage of the geniuses in the state of Texas still believe that Obama is a secret Muslim. McCain is losing because the only demographics that still support him are the rich, and the retarded.

Edit: the description tap offers of republicans is a farce. The republican party is looting the treasure as we speak, the amount of money that is going to pay dividends and corporate bonuses is just evil. My source on this is Lou Dobbs, a CONSERVATIVE PUNDIT.

bump

He is an idiot because he oversimplifies complex issues on which he really doesn’t know anything and says stupid things.[/quote:387taust]

Seriously that is your answer? Well I thank you for proving my point.

Just for the hell of it:

[i:387taust]Joe: I’m getting ready to buy a company that makes about $250,000 … $270-$280,000 a year.

Obama: All right.

Joe: Your new tax plan’s gonna tax me more, isn’t it?[/i:387taust]

Clearly, an idiot saying stupid things. How did I not see it?

Of course no comment on Obama’s reply, which is what the issue actually is.

Thanks for reminding me why I should not have entered this thread again.

Another lie. That joker doesn’t make anywhere near that amount. He might now that he’s become a political pundit.

Another lie. That joker doesn’t make anywhere near that amount. He might now that he’s become a political pundit.[/quote:29uicns0]

What was a lie? He said he was [i:29uicns0]planning[/i:29uicns0] on buying a company that could make roughly that much money, and again, who gives a fcuk if he was making it up, the whole point of this being news was what [i:29uicns0]Obama[/i:29uicns0] responded, which you completely ignore, as usual, and instead attack some random guy for daring to ask the question.

Really, your responses speak volumes more to make my point than I could ever say.

Ahhh somebody stop me!

I really gotta go to bed yawn

Oh Juggles, if it was just being reported about Osama, I’d have to agree with you however, when the words come out of his own mouth and those of his wife..and those of his running mate..and those of his preacher…and those of his mentor and so forth and so own….

Oh yeah…those tax breaks keep creeping further down..first if you made under 300k you were ok.. then 250k…then 200k…now its around 125k….

It’s one thing not to believe a thing you read and only half what you hear but when the person himself tells you directly what he is going to do and you the follower shrug it off and say..nah he won’t do that to me…well who is the retarded one now?

My dad and I own a construction company in Indpls. I do tons of plumbing, roofing, carpentry, electrical, etc. The reason we don’t hire anyone is 2 reasons: the labor pool is terrible (alcoholics and crackheads), and we can’t afford accident liability on them because the health care system is so messed up. If we could grow our business to where I was making 250k a year I don’t think the tax issue would sink us. I can’t imagine its much different for that fool on tv. Taxes aren’t causing this recession/depression and eliminating Bush’s tax cuts for the wealthy shouldn’t even be the issue of the day. It should be a given that we can’t afford those tax cuts when we’ve just doubled or tripled the national debt bailing out corrupt/incompetent bankers and stock brokers and waging a fools errand in Iraq. If the wealthy aren’t going to pay for it, who is? me? You’ll have to rip the money out of my ex-wife’s cold fingers. I just don’t understand how the reality on planet Weasel is any different.

edit: I’m done, I’d rather go play with the gremlin supplicant procs. If anyone has any fun ideas for it, email me.

I agree that the health insurance situation is insane, and am well aware that someone in your position in particular has a big issue with employing, because even hiring independent contractors that would normally be responsible for their own tax and health liabilities, construction is one of the few places where you can still be held liable for him injuring himself (despite usual agency laws) because construction sites are considered hazardous conditions. Strangely enough I am covering some of this very thing in an advanced business law course at university right now.

However, Obama is still a socialist, by his own admission. I can’t understand why you are denying that, or why you would be attacking some guy on the street for asking a question that led to Obama admitting his socialist leaning. Who asked is irrelevant, Obama’s answer is the issue.

[quote:3e2b78ol] You’ll have to rip the money out of my ex-wife’s cold fingers[/quote:3e2b78ol] LOL, well they may well do that, if she’s working hard and doing well for herself.

I honestly just want to be able to put people to work insulating houses, saving people money and lessening the amount of fuel we use. The government can kiss my ass.

Try to argue with that.

LOL. That’s fine, good for you, nothing wrong with that at all, but that is relevant how?

The sky is blue, except when it’s not.

Try to argue with that.

I win.

giggle

I really don’t feel like arguing anymore. So I will just say this to make you happy:

I believe Barack Obama is a Socialist!

ok?

now what if I admit that I think:

John McCain is a Fascist!

have I really illuminated the discussion any? or am I just stirring up fear by using labels that carry powerful and distracting connotations? God forbid anyone should vote for that scary socialist. Lets just forget that the government was socialised years ago and this guys policies aren’t any more radical than Bill and Hillary.

I guess I did feel like arguing.

I believe Barack Obama is a Socialist!

ok?[/quote:3c7gkxmz]

LOL yup happy now. Have a good night.

Happy halloween!

I have to admit, that civilian national security force sounds weird… think it’s all just hot air though.

[quote:20ac0idf]think it’s all just hot air though.[/quote:20ac0idf]

Are you familiar with the term “cool-aid drinker”?

Civilian Security Forces. That combined with Biden warning of a major international crisis within the first couple of months of Obama’s rule, and that they’re going to do ‘something’ that Americans are not going to like (hence the need for the security forces).. I find this all very troubling. Furthermore, this same sentiment is being hinted at by other prominent politicians, including Colin Powell, Madeline Albright, Australian PM Kevin Rudd, and predictions of impending doom are even coming from England and France.

Just what are they preparing us for?

Joe Biden’s words:

[i:114j0vkw]“Mark my words. It will not be six months before the world tests Barack Obama ..Remember I said it standing here if you don’t remember anything else I said. Watch, we’re gonna have an international crisis, a generated crisis, to test the mettle of this guy. ..we’re gonna need you to use your influence, your influence within the community, to stand with him. Because it’s not gonna be apparent initially, it’s not gonna be apparent that we’re right.

“There are gonna be a lot of you who want to go, ‘Whoa, wait a minute, yo, whoa, whoa, I don’t know about that decision’,” Biden continued

But he’s gonna need your help. Because I promise you, you all are gonna be sitting here a year from now going, ‘Oh my God, why are they there in the polls? Why is the polling so down? ..So I’m asking you now, I’m asking you now, be prepared to stick with us. Remember the faith you had at this point because you’re going to have to reinforce us.”[/i:114j0vkw]

The ruling elite have plans for you and I, and they know we are not going to like it.

[i:114j0vkw]If[/i:114j0vkw] it’s just fear-mongering, keep in mind that fear is the primary tool of civilian control. Ask any dictator.

Gird your loins indeed..

don’t most advanced countries have interior forces? Personally, I’m not in favor of it. I like the way the national guard is set up already. But I don’t see what the big deal is.

I don’t see what the big deal is about Biden’s quote is either. Would you really feel better about our foreign policy with hot head McCain and his know nothing sidekick in charge?

McCain - “We have to get out there and fight my friends! fight fight fight! I’m a maverick and I’m gonna fight!”

I’d rather have a guy who was cool, calm, and collected in charge.

Maybe you didn’t see the news where Osama stated we could go into Pakistan and get Obama since they weren’t co-operating. Then again, if you didn’t get a chance to even know that….do you live in Australia by chance?

if mccain knew osama’s location in pakistan i doubt he would hesitate to send some cruise missiles his way. If I remember correctly we sent 40 of em when we thought we knew where saddam was. I think most American’s would support such a decision.

You just proved your own point in an indirect way. If,without a doubt, they knew exactly what cave (set of caves) that Obama was hiding, McCain OR whoever would still have to negotiate with Pakistan to go after him. Now, with it seemingly that Pakistan may be harboring Obama, that might not be much of an negotiation, however, Osama would charge headfirst. The problem with that? Nukes. Pakistan has nukes. Pakistan wouldn’t blink about using them. Osama doesn’t have the foreign respect it would take to puff out his chest and demand Obama be handed over. Pakistan would no doubtedly thumb their nose at us and tell us to f*ck off. Now, I have also heard that McCain is a hothead but, and I may be wrong, McCain might send in a team and “handle” Obama whereas Osama would negotiate a meeting, without preconditions, and who knows….give the guy a pardon or something.

I think the “event” that Biden is talking about is the heavy rumor that if Osama wins the election, Israel will attack Iran by the end of the year. Big-mouth is just letting Israel know that Osama won’t be there to help and the American people won’t like it but tough, they run the country.

Good times indeed…

Sorry..the sign reads NO DIVING ALLOWED

Just now starting and at 2% reporting, McCain is leading so far although ti will probably go back and forth all thru the nite…in any case…if Obama happens to lose… prepare thyself

That was short. Osama wins,Osama wins!!!

Oh yeah, now we are f*cked

Sad thing is, they’ve called the race with some states not having any results reported, like Hawaii or others with a minimal amount of returns in, such as - (even though I have a good idea how the state leans politically) California, with less than 10% of the votes in.

Nice thread guys, generally polite, generally interesting.

Of course I don’t have a crystal ball, I can’t predict the future. We even argue over changes within Sloth, and I’m sure a lot of us have been wrong even about this game that we like so much. Sometimes it seems like a new change will have incredibly terrible effects on Sloth, but then after a while we get used to it and have trouble imaging Sloth without the change. The biggest I can think of was the mini-ticks and constant regeneration. There was a lot of negativity and uncertainty about the change, but I think we can all agree now that the game is better with those than without.

No, I realize I can’t predict the future. I realize that you all can’t predict the future. That’s why I think it’s silly to speak in terms of absolutes when we talk about politics. It’s sounds ridiculous to me, when someone says that Obama will be the worst president ever. Really? Is that a crystal ball in your pocket, or are you just happy to see McCain?

I was raised in Indiana, I was raised to be a Republican. This year I supported Obama. I wasn’t even tempted by the Republican party. I understand which issues are important to me, and decided based on those issues. I don’t want to argue specific issues, but I hope you believe that I did research to educate myself on those issues.

My point today is that we should take care when tossing labels and assigning people to specific groups.

It’s clear that religious conservatives have held a lot of power in the Republican party over the last 10 years. It also seems clear that this group has not supported the ideals that the Republican party used to represent (fiscal responsibility, state rights, limited federal government, etc) though they have supported (to an extreme) a free-market economy. I think this is why the Republicans lost this election. A lot of us seem to support the old platform of the Republican party, but not the current set of people running the party. The current set of Republicans seem to think in extremes, even with the free market position. I think it is clear now that our financial markets cannot operate without some higher amount of regulation.

I used to consider myself religious, but I never felt a need to enforce my beliefs on other people. I can be happy without hindering other people’s lives. It seems to me that religious conservatives can’t do that, that they can’t be happy without enforcing their beliefs on others. If I have a choice, I won’t support that subset of the Republican party gaining more political power in the US.

CATCH!!!

AN Indian warship destroyed a pirate “mother vessel” in the Gulf of Aden, the Indian navy said, as bandits demanded a ransom for a seized Saudi super-tanker.

The Indian frigate INS Tabar, one of dozens of warships from several countries protecting shipping lanes in the area, attacked the Somali pirate ship yesterday after coming under fire, navy spokesman Nirad Sinha said.

The incident came as shipping groups reported a new surge in hijackings off Somalia and the International Maritime Bureau said pirates based in the lawless African nation were now “out of control”.

“The INS Tabar closed in on the mother vessel and asked her to stop for investigation,” the New Delhi navy spokesman said.

“But on repeated calls, the vessel’s threatening response was that she would blow up the naval warship if it approached.”

An exchange of fire ensued, causing explosions and the navy ship then used heavy guns.

“From what we see in photographs the pirate vessel is completely destroyed,” a senior officer said on condition of anonymity.

Kind of funny how many navies are trying to protect boats out there at the moment and seemingly doing a bad job… doesn’t look like the Indian’s are taking the crap though does it… Full steam ahead! Oh, the enemy is approaching us! BANG! BANG! BANG! glug glug glug :D

Hrm….I wonder…if the people on the oil tanker were allowed to have guns then maybe they could have just shot the pirates from the get go…no..that would make too much sense…

Yeah, that would have been awesome… the pirates would have taken over the ship and killed everyone as well. The fact they are still alive and are hostages is tribute to the fact they don’t have guns.

uhmm the pirates do have guns

not arming civilian/merchant vessels dates back to the fear of them going pirate or engaging in false flag operations. given the current state of modern weapons, that’s almost a moot point (naval vessels that lack air support haven’t lasted long in quite some time - see tirpirtz).

giving small arms to the crew and allowing merchant vessels to mount small cannon/heavy machine gun turrets are two different propositions.

You Americans are all the same aren’t you…. if you don’t like someone/something, kill them. Gotta look out for number one… don’t give a toss about doing the right thing cause it’s all about me!

So the crew get machine guns… pirates now upgrade to RPG’s… where does it all stop? Fight the Fire with Fire?

The crews on that boat are alive because they didn’t have guns to defend themselves… and because they are alive, they can be held ransom, which makes the pirates keep them alive. The pirates don’t think twice about killing people… they don’t need a reason… but if you carry a gun, you give them one, and that’s a certainty.

Start arming those boats, and the pirates will used ranged weapons, board the boats and kill everyone under suspicion of being armed. The oil on the boat is as good a ransom as human life… and for you American’s once again… couldn’t give a stuff about the human lives on the boats… it’s all about protecting the oil. Whats a few people getting shot on boats as long as the oil is safe right? You don’t know them anyways!

Yes, the pirates need to be stopped… it’s a job for law enforcement, not sailers, fishermen and cooks.

I change my mind. You are an idiot.

I change my mind. You are an idiot.[/quote:tl6w0vhl]

I’ll second that.

Heh Tap, coming from you, I consider that a compliment!

they have RPGs already too. or do you not follow the news? standard MO for pirates is RPGs and light machine guns, dissable the engines and the crew are almost never harmed. It is a business in a certain part of the world. The crew are not killed not because they don’t resist, they aren’t killed because they are worth money - it’s highly unlikely the company will negotiation on favorable terms if their employees die a horrible death.

On the same note, if they lose more vessels in the process of their business, the profit model suddenly goes out of whack. The market is a wonderful force :)

not that i expect liberals to listen to logic :)

Yes, the pirates need to be stopped… it’s a job for law enforcement, not sailers, fishermen and cooks.[/quote:2u4tpppr]

Law enforcement is out of it’s depth in international waters, or the waters of nations unwilling or unable to stop it. It’s a job for the combined air and sea forces of the world. But defending oneself is a fundamental human right, no matter where one might be.

As Alberich says, it’s a business. Pirates can only be stopped by making their “work” unprofitable. And the only way to do that is by sinking their vessels and inflicting a high enough mortality rate as to make continued piracy unattractive.

I’m sure plenty of people die because these organisations continue to obtain supplies from piracy.

Finally, this:

Start arming those boats, and the pirates will used ranged weapons, board the boats and kill everyone under suspicion of being armed.[/quote:2u4tpppr]

Bringing a light vessel up beside an oil tanker, throwing ropes up the side, and finally climbing three stories up to the deck would be difficult while under fire.

Can’t help but wonder if Jezer is just saying these things to get a reaction, not because he actually believes it.. surely.

[img:2n414o6k]http://www.maximumeyewear.com/productfolder/safety-glasses/wood-chipper-goggles/wood-chipper-goggles.jpg[/img:2n414o6k]

I’m trying to look at things with a different perspective… The world tends to look at things in terms of “justice” and “fairness.”

For example, if someone shoots someone else… justice says that man should be punished too an equal… or qualifying… amount.

What I am attempting to do is look at issues through “morality.”

So for example, because I am shot… to shoot someone back as payment makes me just as bad as that other person, in an ethical sense. (Out of ill feelings about the past I would have reacted in the same way, as someone who mistreated me, therefore making me just as “bad.”)

It seems in this world, more often than not, what people fight against is often what they end up becoming… (for example, in 5 months, Weasel will become an Obamaite… ok… bad example, but how many people try not to follow there fathers example and still end up becoming violent and alcoholics?) “Justice” and “fairness” are amoral quantities… neither right nor wrong. So this system WITHOUT moral variables… actually requires the need for “pay back” which in turn causes escalation. (We see it in wars/guns/fear) Each action is retaliation through justice.

There is something bigger than justice… It’s what I’m looking for… so cut me some slack. I don’t have my idea’s worked out tightly… and it’s why I like to apply them to situations, I am testing them myself.

See this “thing” that’s bigger than justice… it looks far bigger than pirates… it says… should this oil even be transported to this country, are they fairly paying the workers… it asks lots of questions, it tries to figure out whats right, cause clearly the world is a messed up place, and as long as we keep doing these things to each other… something ain’t right!

I can tell many of you don’t care for the morality/ethical argument, being able to retaliate against people who hurt you is enough for you in life… under the law of justice… I guess I’m asking myself why. Because essentially humans are all the same, just different by the product of their culture/belief and upbringing… so why do we treat each other like this… what are we holding onto that needs to be let go?

I know this is idealistic… but people’s beliefs… even idealistic… change people, and this journey, without end, I think changes people for the better as it attempts to grasp who one is, and how he should react with others.

:!:

Shooting someone who’s about to shoot you, or indeed, returning fire towards pirates attacking a ship you’re on, has nothing to do with justice.

As for fairness, fairness is something that happens in sports. Real life is not fair, nor does it strive to be.

I could go on to systematically answer all the points that I can pick out of that post, but I think the following statement will make a better point than a simple counter argument; Attempting to quantify absolutely everything that happens in the world against arbitrary rules of morality is an extremely dangerous path. You state yourself that humans are products of the culture that they’re raised in, and I couldn’t agree more. But morals are a facet of culture, and when multiple sets of morals are in opposition, they can create conflicts to match any search for justice.

You assume, that my “moral conclusions” will be “pressed” on others causing conflict… but that’s actually one thing I’ve discovered…

To press my beliefs on other people… is actually immoral and unethical, I can only speak of my ideas peacefully. It’s up to people to take them on board.

The idea’s are about making me a better person, not changing the world… Because we can only account for our own life, and our own dealings. You can drag a horse to water… but you can’t make him drink.

[quote:1fqzn6c6]Attempting to quantify absolutely everything that happens in the world against arbitrary rules of morality is an extremely dangerous path.[/quote:1fqzn6c6]

I think this statement is wrong… however to try and press these rules on others would be, and maybe you allude to and fear that? Can you explain why this is extremely dangerous?

[quote:1fqzn6c6]Shooting someone who’s about to shoot you, or indeed, returning fire towards pirates attacking a ship you’re on, has nothing to do with justice. [/quote:1fqzn6c6]

What does it have to do with? Why am I right to shoot them, and they are wrong to shoot me? Whats it really about then?

You assume, that my “moral conclusions” will be “pressed” on others causing conflict… but that’s actually one thing I’ve discovered…[/quote:147hbznr]

Normally that’s what happens when people hold strong moral views, but I’ll concede that it’s a generalisation, and not inherent to morals.

[/quote:147hbznr]

Mostly I can agree with that. But to play with your metaphor, people need to remember the later part before the dragging begins.

[quote:147hbznr]Attempting to quantify absolutely everything that happens in the world against arbitrary rules of morality is an extremely dangerous path.[/quote:147hbznr]

I think this statement is wrong… however to try and press these rules on others would be, and maybe you allude to and fear that? Can you explain why this is extremely dangerous?[/quote:147hbznr]

Once again, any given set morals normally does end up being applied to those who don’t agree with them. I’m also starting to find constant accusations of fear in those who disagree with you tedious.

[quote:147hbznr]

Shooting someone who’s about to shoot you, or indeed, returning fire towards pirates attacking a ship you’re on, has nothing to do with justice.[/quote:147hbznr]

What does it have to do with? Why am I right to shoot them, and they are wrong to shoot me? Whats it really about then?[/quote:147hbznr]

You have the right to shoot them (as against being right to shoot them) because they are attempting to take either life or possession’s against almost universally agreed upon law. It is really about protecting yourself and your property.

Surely you distinguish the aggressor from the defender?

[quote:1teshfe2]Surely you distinguish the aggressor from the defender?[/quote:1teshfe2]

Sure, but I am only responsible for my own conduct, and why should my conduct mirror there’s at the expense of giving up all I try to stand for? It’s an extremely tough stand to make, but it’s a right choice I think.

Are beliefs worth DYING for? Yes. Are they worth FIGHTING for? No, in fact they can’t be fought for… they can only come by free choice.

Your accusation about fear, is mere observation of people’s arguments… and I don’t think you can argue “what if” and “could” feature way too much in the Obama thing. The guy hasn’t failed yet… and I know many here are looking forward to ever which way they can point it out that he has.

Fear is one thing, perfectly natural response in the body… but using it to leverage people is a whole different thing… that’s what’s been going on.

Yeah, fear is a great tool for encouraging the public to allow themselves to be disarmed

Seriously though, dying for your beliefs. If everyone that holds a given belief is willing to die, but unwilling to fight, it isn’t exactly going to be difficult for someone else to eliminate the entire belief system.

Realistically, how can you die for your beliefs in a way that would further your goal? I can pretty much see two ways, you can die fighting for it. Or you could die without offering resistance. It’s the second one that I find interesting in this case. The only way that is going to further someone’s beliefs is if it inspires others to fight for their cause. If the now-martyr didn’t expect it to happen, they intended to give their life for nothing, hardly dying for their belief. If they did, then they intended to make others fight for their cause where they wouldn’t, and that makes a hypocrite.

And my “accusation” about fear was as simple as it sounded, there was no hidden meaning. I was simply pointing out that you have a tendency (in this thread at least) to suggest that anyone who doesn’t follow your particular philosophy is fearful of…something.

[quote:1epajamz]What does it have to do with? Why am I right to shoot them, and they are wrong to shoot me? Whats it really about then?[/quote:1epajamz]

If you want to debate the merits of shooting someone, right or wrong, in the afterlife, go right ahead, I’d suggest protecting yourself. I’d going 100% towards them being wrong for wanting to shoot you first. If you want to open the door to an intuder and let him in hoping he doesn’t do you harm, go right ahead. If you felt that confident that nothing bad would could out of it. feel free to attach fliers around town advertising “Free Stuff at My House- Just Don’t Shoot Me” and see where that gets you.

[quote:1epajamz]To press my beliefs on other people… is actually immoral and unethical,[/quote:1epajamz]Ah, so now having someone tell you what you can and can’t do is immoral and un-ethical? and I was certain you were leaning the other way…

I think maybe you are failing to grasp that there is a difference between aggression, and violence. Aggression is almost never justifiable, i think you can find broad agreement on that. Justified or not, however, plenty of folks without your lofty ideals will still see it as a valid course of action. That is where the reciprocal, violence, comes into the discussion. Meeting unwarranted aggression with violence I have no problems with and you’d have a hard time convincing me there is anything immoral about it.

You seem to be taking almost a super-buddhist approach (go ask the tibetans how well that non-violence in the face of aggression thing is working out for them…).

on a slightly unrelated note i find your idea that you can believe in something but not be willing to fight for it fascinating… it sounds more like you have an idea you kinda like in a philosophical sense, but you know somewhere that it’s a basically flawed concept.

does this apply not just to an idea - i’ve no idea how old you are, but are you extended that position to your hypothetical wife? Cheerfully stand in front of the first bullet, and then you’re dead so what happens later doesn’t matter? Seems at best a highly irresponsible way to look at the world.

It’s amazing how often, it all comes back down to taking bullets… Heck, I have no idea what I’d do. Because it’s about ideas, these idea’s are not at a point where they are shaping my actions yet, because the idea’s haven’t had time to ‘mature’ and change my outlook yet… because it’s a process and journey, not a destination.

I had a dream last night, where people were being executed, and when my turn came up, I wrestled the shooter, and twisted the gun back on himself… I guess how I responded then, would probably be how I’d respond now, in the heat of the moment.

You can’t say one thing and do another… then your a hypocritical… only when you can actually live the line have you arrived.

There probably is a time where violence is right… but I don’t know when, and I couldn’t define it…

As for the Tibetians… who is really winning? The tibetans are standing by what they believe in regards to non-violence, in an ethical sense, they actually have the higher moral fortitude than the oppressive regime. If you look at it, through those ethical and moral glasses… whose winning?

We all enter the world as nothing and die with nothing, so if any thing in this world makes one man’s life better than an others… it must be who he was morally, as this seems to be the separating factor between man and animals…

It seems some think I’m willing to die needlessly… It’s certainly not the case, I’ll do everything I can to preserve my life, drawing the line at whats right… what ever that is… and that’s what I ponder…

Dying for ones beliefs, but not fighting for them seems a real pure thought to me… it’s seems to be where religions go wrong… dying for them is ok, but at that point where you cross over and start fighting for them is when you’ve crossed the line… that’s no matter who you are or who you follow. Religion is such a choice thing… you can’t force people, it’s counter productive.

I’m not a scholar of religions… but I do know that in the story of Jesus… he actually died for what he believed in, and never fought for it… there seems to be something of his example that still interests others today, it’s a pity a lot of his followers have embellished his example with a whole bunch of self centered righteous crap.

..blah blah blah..

I can tell many of you don’t care for the morality/ethical argument, being able to retaliate against people who hurt you is enough for you in life…

..blah blah blah..[/quote:1ecrva7s]

What an unbelievably arrogant, narcissistic statement.

I hate to bring a debate down to personal insults. But these latest points are so incredibly naive that it forces me to question the stability of anyone making them. They could only make sense through an astoundingly twisted understanding of reality.

+1 Weasel.

Matthew 21:12

Then Jesus went into the temple, threw out everyone who was selling and buying in the temple, and overturned the moneychangers’ tables and the chairs of those who sold doves.

Which bible you been reading Jezer?

I was more expecting…

Joh 2:15 And when he had made a scourge of small cords, he drove them all out of the temple, and the sheep, and the oxen; and poured out the changers’ money, and overthrew the tables;

To overthrow tables, is one thing… but it’s not violence against people… but “made a scourge of small cords, he drove them all out of the temple” sure sounds like it to me. It would seem there is a time for violence… but like I said… don’t ask me to define it… I don’t know why he did this, and then let people kill him… he certainly seemed to see things a different way…

Church becoming a place of business drives the guy to violence… and let people trying to kill him doesn’t…

He certainly saw the world a different way, he too spoke about justice… eye for an eye, tooth for a tooth, but said to turn the other cheek…

It may seem like what he did was two faced, but I don’t think it was… it was just operating on a different values system than we do.

I’m certainly no theologian but [quote:17hm1huy]He certainly saw the world a different way, he too spoke about justice… eye for an eye, tooth for a tooth, but said to turn the other cheek… [/quote:17hm1huy]

The actual context was how the Jewish way of doing things was the eye for an eye, tooth for a tooth and his response was if being struck on the check to turn to the other side so that it might be struck also. Many people have different thoughts on exactly who Jesus was. I feel that even though being the son of God, he was human. He was drawn to anger because the temple was being defiled. But you couldn’t equate that to him being violent. As far as why he allowed himself to be crucified, that’s the greatest story ever told.

:)

He certainly saw the world a different way, [b:3s9x5ng7]he too[/b:3s9x5ng7] spoke about justice… [/quote:3s9x5ng7]

So you see yourself on the same level as Jesus now..

Yasik, Warrior Skills, Obama and now Jezer it seems…

How do you get rid of this guy and his sharp little teeth? Your beginning to remind me of that skunk on the Gods Must Be Crazy movie, the one that bites the guys boot and never lets go. Honestly Weasel, this crap your spewing is your perception of what I’m saying… and not in my intention or heart. I apologize if I’ve come across as self righteous, it’s not my intention. I’ve got nothing against you, can’t you just truce! Go find your next thing to get all indignant about… I just don’t want this, leave me out of this.

[img:s1zwec1j]http://www.teachwithmovies.org/guides/gods-must-be-crazy-i-DVDcover.jpg[/img:s1zwec1j]

Don’t flatter yourself dude. I’m only responding to some of your comments, although it doesn’t surprise me that you interpret it as some unprovoked personal vendetta, rather than simply someone pointing out some of the things you are saying. I guess if you didn’t come across as if you think you’re so much better than everyone else, myself and a few others might react a little differently.

jezer, i have a proposition for you, since you are anti-violence and anti-guns. show me just how “non-violent” you are. go play sloth with no weapons and no blasting. get items and exps from mobs without killing or subduing them. let’s see just how far you get. now get your ostrich head out of your horse’s ass and stfu. we are all tired of your sanctimonious “it can’t happen to me because i follow the law and i am non-violent” bullshit. sell it to the tabloids because we aren’t buying it.

I don’t think it causes racisim, but the traditional thanksgiving story that we give to kids is a bunch of bs that covers up the real facts of a massive genocide. I’m not sure exactly if this causes any harm, but I won’t trivialize those who say it does. Does it seem odd to anyone else that we celebrate the friendship between the pilgrims and the indians, when we all know what happened next?

More than just a little odd.

I was talking with some friends over the Christmas holiday break and they were commenting on how lucky we are that we live in a free country where we have the liberty and the opportunity to live our lives the way we want and are not controlled by the government like in other countries.

So I started thinking about a particular day of mine a couple months ago:

I woke up in the morning in my FHA (Federal Housing Administration) approved home that was built in accordance with USDOE (Department of Energy), FERC (Federal Energy Regulatory Commission), and numerous CFRs (Code of Federal Regulations).

I went to the bathroom to clean up for work. I showered with soap, shampoo and other toiletry products that have been approved for me by the FDA (Food and Drug Administration) using water that meets federal EPA (Environmental Protection Agency) quality standards.

I took my morning vitamins which had to be approved by the FDA.

I went downstairs to eat breakfast foods that had to be approved by the FDA and listened to my morning radio programs which are regulated by the FCC (Federal Communication Commission).

I then got into my EPA and DOT (Dept. of Transportation) standards approved and FTC (Federal Trade Commission) regulated car and was forced by the NHTSA (National Highway Traffic Safety Administration) to buckle my seatbelt and put my daughter into an approved child seat. I then drove on DOT regulated roads and was forced to drive a certain speed while listening to more FCC approved programming on my radio.

I stopped for gas but there wasn’t any due to state legislated gas quality restrictions which caused a decrease in the supply of gas and also gasoline price controls that kept the price so artificially low that there was an excess demand such that it sold out as soon as it arrived.

I arrived at my DOL (Dept. of Labor) regulated and EEOC (Equal Employment Opportunity Commission) sanctioned place of employment, running on fumes, and was forced to work the first 2 hours of my 8 hour shift for the federal and state governments by giving almost 30% of my wages to the IRS and SSA (Social Security Administration) with no compensation.

At lunchtime I went with colleagues to eat and was forced to pay with the only medium of exchange the government approves that is regulated by the FRB (Federal Reserve Board): worthless fiat bank notes.

I then went to pick up my daughter from school where she’s learning a DOE (Dept. of Education) approved curriculum. I took her to an HMO (Health Maintenance Organization) approved doctor to get her HHS (Health and Human Services) mandated vaccinations that I learned she needed while watching a Disney family movie which was interrupted by an HHS PSA.

After returning to work I checked my SEC (Securities and Exchange Commission) and IRS regulated investments in my now Federal Treasury owned banks to see if I’ll be able to retire someday since the SSA trust fund that I’ve been paying into for 25 years has been raided by the federal government and is now bankrupt.

That afternoon I had to catch a flight to our office in Detroit aboard an FAA (Federal Aviation Administration) approved plane operating at an FAA regulated airport.

Before boarding I had to pass through a TSA (Transportation Safety Administration) security checkpoint where I was forced to disrobe down to my shirt, pants and socks and pass through a scanning machine that saw right through my remaining clothing.

Onboard I noticed federal sky marshals with weapons so I decided to have a cocktail composed of liquor that is controlled by the ATF (Alcohol Tobacco and Firearms), as are the sky marshal’s guns.

Once sufficiently sedated with bourbon, I sat back and relaxed and thought to myself: Thank God I don’t live in a country where the government controls your life![/color:9yptflpn]

“SHUT UP! my business, my reputation, my life, has been ruined because you three incompetent TWITS let yourselves be outsmarted by a bunch of dumb animals. and you call yourselves men? HUH? I’ve seen more intelligent pieces of carpet!” - cruella de vil –> 101 dalmatians

A kitchen[/size:1a9i38a6][/color:1a9i38a6], is a room or part of a room (sometimes called “kitchen area[/color:1a9i38a6]” or a “kitchenette[/color:1a9i38a6]”) used for food preparation including cooking[/color:1a9i38a6], and sometimes also for eating and entertaining guests, if the kitchen[/color:1a9i38a6] is large enough and designed to be used that way.

A modern kitchen[/color:1a9i38a6] in the affluent parts of the western world is typically equipped with a stove[/color:1a9i38a6] and possibly a microwave oven[/color:1a9i38a6]. It also has a sink[/color:1a9i38a6] with hot and cold running water available for cleaning food, for providing water to cook with, as well as for washing dishes[/color:1a9i38a6], although some modern kitchens[/color:1a9i38a6] have a dishwasher. One or more units in which to store food, and to store utensils, pots and dishes[/color:1a9i38a6], are also usually present in or near a kitchen[/color:1a9i38a6], either in the form of an adjacent pantry room, or more commonly as kitchen[/color:1a9i38a6] cabinets and a refrigerator[/color:1a9i38a6] which often has a freezer compartment too.

Although the main function of a kitchen[/color:1a9i38a6] is supposed to be cooking or preparing food, the kitchen[/color:1a9i38a6] can be the center of other activities as well, especially within homes, depending on the size, furnishings, and equipment. If, as sometimes happens, the home does not have a laundry[/color:1a9i38a6] room, but instead has a washing machine[/color:1a9i38a6] and possibly a dryer in a closet in the kitchen[/color:1a9i38a6], then washing and drying laundry may also be done in the same room. The kitchen[/color:1a9i38a6] may also be the place where the family eats, provided it is large enough and has a table and chairs. Sometimes, the kitchen[/color:1a9i38a6] is the most comforting room in a house, where family and visitors tend to congregate. In this respect a large modern kitchen[/color:1a9i38a6] is still the psychological “hearth” of the home.

Al Franken isnt a senator yet. That Burris is about to be a senator is far more disturbing.

And Weasel, considering you never had anything to say about Senators David Vitter, Ted Stevens, and Larry Craig representing the Republican party….

Please dont start now with Franken. If your going to beat the drum about issues, make it about the issues. Both Democrats and Republicans are far from perfection.

There’s idiots on both sides of the fence, and I have never denied that. As always, you appear to continue to stereotype me because I didn’t support Obama. It’s getting really old.

Get this straight: if Franken were running on a Republican ticket I would still be making the exact same comments, ok? In this case, it’s about the person, not the party. I can think like that. You should try it some time.

Bill Gates Unleashes Swarm of Mosquitoes on Crowd

[img:zyqpjmh4]http://www.foxnews.com/images/500689/0_61_gates320.jpg[/img:zyqpjmh4]

[quote:zyqpjmh4]“Malaria is spread by mosquitoes,” Gates said while opening a jar onstage at the Technology, Entertainment, Design Conference — a gathering known to attract technology kings, politicians, and Hollywood stars.

“I brought some. Here I’ll let them roam around. There is no reason only poor people should be infected.”[/quote:zyqpjmh4]

Great news!

[url:2qgwneiu]http://news.aol.com/health/article/marijuana-use-linked-to-testicular/333866[/url:2qgwneiu]

Great news!

[url:1idyd2ig]http://news.aol.com/health/article/marijuana-use-linked-to-testicular/333866[/url:1idyd2ig][/quote:1idyd2ig]

Did you read the article?

The risk [b:1idyd2ig]appeared[/b:1idyd2ig] to be highest among men who had reported smoking marijuana for at least 10 years, used it more than once a week or started using it before age 18, the researchers wrote in the journal Cancer.

Stephen Schwartz of the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center in Seattle, one of the researchers, said the study was the first to explore marijuana’s [b:1idyd2ig]possible association [/b:1idyd2ig]with testicular cancer.

“This is the first study to look at this question, and [b:1idyd2ig]by itself is not definitive[/b:1idyd2ig]. And there’s a lot more research that would have to be done [b:1idyd2ig]in order to be more confident that marijuana use really is important in a man’s risk of developing testicular cancer,” Schwartz said in a telephone interview.[/b:1idyd2ig]

The study found the increased risk appeared to be in the form called nonseminoma testicular cancer. It accounts for 40 percent of cases and can be more aggressive and more difficult to treat, Schwartz said.

[b:1idyd2ig]Experts are unsure about the causes of testicular cancer[/b:1idyd2ig], which often strikes men in their 20s and 30s. [b:1idyd2ig]The disease is seen more commonly in men who have had an undescended testicle or have a family history of testicular cancer.[/b:1idyd2ig]

The disease usually responds well to treatment and has a five-year [b:1idyd2ig]survival rate of about 96 percent,[/b:1idyd2ig] according to the American Cancer Society.

Clearly this is a bs article. I can come up with plenty of correlations which are not causations. I am surprised that everyone rails on cannabis when it has been proven to be less problematic than alcohol or any of the other varieties of “legal” drugs. Why don’t we spend our time fixing real problems, like cabinet members who don’t pay taxes. Nah lets put one in charge of the IRS instead…

For random reading only, no need to pitch a fit about weed.

[i:u8r6x6za]The embattled US insurance company AIG has warned its staff to travel in pairs after dark, not to wear company logos and to avoid discussing their work outside the office, as public outrage boils over at multimillion-dollar executive bonuses.

AIG’s employees have been subjected to death threats since the company handed out $165M in “retention” awards to employees in its disastrously loss-making financial products division this week.

Recipients of the bonuses said they feared for their own safety. A union-backed campaign group is today taking protesters on a bus tour of AIG executives’ homes in a wealthy enclave of Connecticut known as the “gold coast”.[/color:u8r6x6za]

Not sure if you are being sarcastic or not but this is terrible. Now the book is wide open to throw out all contracts of all types for whatever suits the guv-mint.

Not being sarcastic.

Just enjoying sick pleasure about those bastards wont get away clean.

They not deserve that money, they didnt work for it.

They ruined the company and led it to bancrupcy.

What bonuses are you talking about?!

Bonus applies when you work over-time etc, or invent something useful.

No, as I know company pays retention bonus to person who promised to stay for the company for another 12 months and fulfil the promise. Though I think those guys are turds anyway. And their bosses alike.

Vixn

Not sure if you are being sarcastic or not but this is terrible. Now the book is wide open to throw out all contracts of all types for whatever suits the guv-mint.[/quote:2ay1mdgl]

Couldn’t agree more. As wrong as it is ethically for these people to get huge bonuses out of struggling taxpayer’s pockets, it is even worse to set a precedent where a legal binding contract can be ignored at the whim of some politicians because they won’t take responsibility for allowing it to happen in the first place, but would rather victimize others in order to divert attention from their own stupid mistakes - and now they’re going to hit them with 90% tax rates, and claim they’re not making targeted laws (which is unconstitutional).. yeah right.

Expect a LOT more of this from Obama and his henchmen.

Note that I am talking in particular about retention bonuses here btw, which [i:2ay1mdgl]are[/i:2ay1mdgl] earned - they are based on completion of an agreed term of employment, and company performance is not part of those contracts.

Let me explain.

Aside of “capitalism”, “communism” and “socialism” and other.

I believe, you earn something (money) when you contribute “good” qualities.

The “work” is when you create something of value using “good” qualities (hands, brane or twisted brane).

Workers use hands and create material values.

Scientists use brane and create scientific values.

Gays, drunkers and others use imagination etc to create art values.

If you have spare 1M coins and loan to someone, making a deal they return 1.1M —-> its NOT a “work”. Its swindle, fraud, cheating - you name it. Its not a “good” quality, its greed, avidity, cupidity.

[b:156boav7]Work must be paid.[/b:156boav7] If its not a “work” - f* off and get a real job! Right now the ones who didnt have guts to have a real job trying to get away of the mess [u:156boav7]they did[/u:156boav7], with [u:156boav7]your money[/u:156boav7] as taxpayer.

Loaning someone a million dollars and having them pay you back 1.1 mil is not cheating, swindling etc..it’s investing.. you might not be doing the “work” per se but you are taking a chance of getting nothing back. It could fall flat then you are out 1 million. You should be compensated for your commitment which in itself is aiding someone else reach their goals. I don’t know all the details of what happens at A.I.G.,, I’m not sure anyone does.. I do know alot of spin from both sides have came out of this mess.. If what I hear is true, then some of the payments would be legitimate and others just “good ole boys” taking care of each other. They did in fact get paid from completing a service for which they were hired. Sure, they might have fixed themselves out of having a job, but I’m guessing their expertise as advisors would force them to work for only companies that needed help. Not unlike a physician..once they fix you, they don’t keep working on you, they move on to someone else. What you define as work might work for you but you don’t know what these people did.. maybe they did use their hands.. maybe they spent 60+ hours a week working to fix a problem which they did complete in order to receive the bonuses. from what I am hearing, Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac are also giving out bonuses that rival in amounts to what A.I.G. has. I’m to the point, being the suspicious person that I am read paranoid that this is only a diversion to draw attention from something bigger that is going on. Most people are sheep, they can be goaded to follow a certain path. Osama knows this and he is playing the crowd like a fiddle.

“Helping someone reach their goals” is such a sorry self-excuse !

see?

If you’re OK with your money goes to smartass society parazites - your choise.

I still believe there can’t be capitalist with a human face.

I don’t quite understand what your saying Yasik. I use credit cards but have never paid 1 cent in interest on them. I use the rewards to actually make money from them.

I do have a home mortgage at 6.125% but I pay less with my mortgage and taxes/insurance than I would if I rented this home. Plus I can do what I want and not worry about a thing. I don’t let the bank system take advantage of me. The only ones taking advantage of me are politicians who think that my tax dollars are simply numbers for them to toss around as they desire. Politicians are the true enemy of the free people, not banks or capitalists.

There is no black and white distinction ‘capitalist’ or ‘socialist’ or even ‘communist’. Much of the arguing that goes back and forth is hyperbole and abstract jargon.

The fact is without government meddling, the middle class would be tiny. The wealthy would increasingly press their economic advantage to the deficit of the poor. Society would look more feudalistic than democratic.

Of course there’s a balance. If we give the politicians too much control over the economy it becomes inefficient and corrupt.

I thought Obama would be more moderate than he’s demonstrated so far. I don’t like these bailouts any more than those on the far right. We seem to be nationalizing failed financial institutions for some unknown purpose. There also seems to be no attempt to reign in rising medicare and social security payouts.

Just got back from a 3 week holiday to New Zealand. The effect of the ‘Recession’ is different there, exports are hurting more… I’d have to say in Australia where I am, we are still waiting for it to ‘hit’ in comparison.

The focus of the recession all seems to be about China here… rumours our government is borrowing big from them. Private companies in China seem to be investing big in other countries infrastructure while people are desperate for cash. When(?) it all clears up, figure China is going to be a huge player in practically everything. It seems to be in the throws of going from caterpillar to butterfly… however so much conflicting information… like is there economic strength really as large as suggested, or is it just some phoney communistic spin?

I’m not sure China can stay being, so called, “communist”, if the full power of there economic arms becomes apparent, or will they collapse under there own weight, interesting times. I’m looking to move back to NZ to be closer to extended family. All my time is tied up in decision making and planing the move at the moment. My slothing is in limbo.

Nice, where did you go in NZ? That’s where I’m from :)

Oamaru/Christchurch. All my extended family live there. It’s an awesome lifestyle… snowboarding, hunting, hiking, surfing (if your mad). I have a bunch of cousins of a similar age heavily into these things. I just can’t do this city thing any more… it’s not me, and I just find myself wishing I was back. The weather can be pretty random but I discovered this clothing brand called icebreaker.

[url:2fzi0dhz]http://www.icebreaker.com[/url:2fzi0dhz]

OMG! Unbelievable! I can wear like 2 layers of this stuff at 5 degrees and not feel a stiff cold breeze, it’s finely spun wool from a merino, and it’s light, not itchy, it breaths so you don’t sweat, doesn’t smell even if you wear for weeks… highly recommended. You don’t have to look like an eskimo to keep warm in sub zero. I was at altitude with a north-westerly blowing over the snow covered mountains into my face… hands… freezing… nose… dripping… body… perfectly neutral. Best thing since my Woolen Aasan.

HA! Bunch of the boys drove from Dunedin to Oamaru just to get takeaways once - they have (or had) one of the best takeaway fish and chip shops in the country. At least it seemed that way when we had the munchies.

I did a LOT of surfing around Dunedin too, and along the Kaikoura Coast, and even a few times in Ch-Ch itself (Tailors Mistake, Sumner)..

Skiing around there is EPIC too. Mt Hutt is great. My grandma lived most of her life in Ch-Ch, and my Mother. Great place to be based. We were thinking of moving to Ch-Ch instead of me going to NYC at one stage. Good you went there instead of Auckland.

Sounds like the fish and chip shop at the junction. We had it 3 times while I was over. :D

We shot up Mt Kurow for a day trip, we got to 1934m. Pic was taken at about 1400m. Photographs are bad at capturing the depth of field, but the field of view is at least 70km into the distance.

[img:am9puo82]http://www.leapfreak.com/images/Kurow.jpg[/img:am9puo82]

We also hiked into the South Temple basin, which is near Ohau and the Ohau ski field. This mountain range is pretty much the center for all the outdoors stuff we like to do.

[img:am9puo82]http://www.leapfreak.com/images/Shingle.jpg[/img:am9puo82]

We stayed in a hut over night, and then just did our own thing the next day. I had a GPS so we just ignore the tracks and make our own up the creek beds. Best drinking water ever! Pure Melted Snow.

[img:am9puo82]http://www.leapfreak.com/images/Canopy.jpg[/img:am9puo82]

We shot 200m up this shingle scree, until we ‘bush bashed’ through to the huge basin. The bush is about head height, but is dense as, you have to crawl through the bases below, or climb the little shrubs and walk over top of them… occasionally falling a meter landing with a branch between your legs  The angle of that shingle scree was prob about 50 degrees.

[img:am9puo82]http://www.leapfreak.com/images/Steep.jpg[/img:am9puo82]

Good times with all the laughs added for good measure. I can’t wait to move back, we lived in Oamaru for 5 years before we moved to Australia.

Great pics, thanks for posting! I like a panorama shot too. What sort of camera? Starting to cool down a little over there now I guess.. late summer.. nice time of year. Actually most any time is a nice time of year there. :)

I miss NZ.

Camera was a Canon 450 Digital SLR. I obviously had to size the photo for posting, but in it’s original form its 5 x 10 mega pixel photo’s stitched together.

A lot of people from NZ leave and go overseas… most return within 15 years. Guess the grass isn’t always greener on the other side of the fence.

Nice stitching work. I recently got a Canon SX10IS (actually it was a present from my g/f). Nice camera - about as close as it gets to SLR without actually officially being one.

I’ve been gone from NZ since 2001. Who knows when we’ll head back. You’re Aussie by birth though right? Or Kiwi?

The focus of the recession all seems to be about China here… rumours our government is borrowing big from them. Because chinese WORK, not play on markets?exchanges helpin’ to blow up the financial balloon (which is broke half-year ago).

Chinese now own your ass.

The stitch photo was played around with in photoshop for a bit to make sure the stitch lines were cleared, and the light was adjusted. Clear sky’s and good light for photographs can be a rare thing in New Zealand especially down south or on the mountains. When we were following the creek bed, it was absolutely beautiful. The sun shining through the canopy into a creek with old trees messed up by avalanches covered in moss up to 20cm’s thick, but the light was bad, and with no tripod the photo’s were disappointing and blured. This place was pretty remote… about 4hrs walk from the nearest road, carrying camera equip is a real drag. I’d personally not bother dragging an DSLR out there with a bunch of lenses and just enjoy the outdoors more.

My cousin’s wife works at a photo shop and my cousin kind of does the whole photoshop and photography thing. My own camera broke on the trip, looks like I’m up for a new one. :( I was born in NZ and lived there for 14 years before we moved.

Wtf does this mean. Because Chinese work? The current US budget is as big as the whole China GDP. They have almost 10 times as many people. How in the hell can you say they work harder? Our infrastructure is thousands of times greater even with their current years of 20% growth. Also China manipulates their currency to deepen the trade deficit. This is all stuff you can easily read for yourself but you seem to be hating. China is at least 20 years behind many other countries, they exploit the working class and use the capital to invest in things like currency instead of their people.

I might have to take Tap’s player hater award and certify it to Yasik.

Yeah, this means chinese work, not makin money out of money.

They produce industrial things, not some Hollywood movies, which is undoubtly is a waste of time, efforts and resources of any kind.

They dont have 10 times more ppl : 1.3B vs. 300M.

This is all stuff you can easily read for yourself but you seem to be hating.

The quality of infrastructure can’t be measured, so this argument of yours also is invalid.

What makes you think i hate someone or something?

China is great because if you open your mouth and protest, you get ran over by a tank or get to take an exciting “vacation” for a long time(usually on the down-lo). They also ban all those pesky religions and make sure you handle your own abortions..you know.. its illegal to have too many kids there.

Awesome!!!

Also they almost dont have corrupted officials of any rank.

You can be shot for this shit, ya know.

HAHAHAHA! Holy crap what fantasy world are you living in? China’s (political) elite are as corrupt as Russia’s, if not more! You really don’t seem to have a clue about anything, except maybe posting death metal videos from youtube. Maybe you should just stick to that.

p.s. just so you don’t accuse me of biased ‘hating’, imo much of America’s political elite are corrupt as well. In fact it would be difficult to reach the higher levels of politics without being corrupt in some way, or at least shutting a blind eye to it (which is no better in my opinion).

Too depressing for me sorry. Sounds like he’s spent a few years under a whiskey bottle with that husky voice. As far as that genre goes, I prefer the likes of James Taylor or some Cat Stevens (albeit a couple of decades earlier).

Anyone here play Guild Wars? Would appreciate any views on it - I’m considering getting Trilogy (includes Guild Wars, Guild Wars Factions, and Guild Wars Nightfall).. the fact it has no subscription fee is a [b:31hmsnq0]big[/b:31hmsnq0] plus for me..

Got my new PC up and running sweet; Vista 64-bit, i7-920 now clocked and very stable at 3.8GHz, 6GB RAM @ 1600MHz, and a GTX 285 SSC factory clocked to 702.. Crysis runs on full without a problem.. but Crysis gives me slight motion sickness after a while which isn’t much fun.

Guild wars is alright and I reckon it will be fun. The no subscription fees is indeed a bonus. Anyhow you will be quick to find annoying and rude kids on there within your first hour ;)

If Crysis gives you motion sickness, you should not even look at Mirrors Edge.

P.S. Nice Rig! EVGA makes very decent cards! What kind of mobo you powering this beast with? Prolly an ASUS I reckon.

Nope, not an ASUS. Mobo is EVGA X58 3xSLI (although I only have a single GTX 285 SSC in there..[i:su124kzz] so far[/i:su124kzz] ). Latest BIOS seems pretty good.

Using a CoolerMaster V8 CPU cooler and the CoolerMaster Storm Sniper SGC case (need it to fit the V8 in!).

Corsair 850TX PSU

RAM is 3 x 2GB OCZ platinums (rated 1600MHz 7-7-7-24) with one of those Corsair RAM fans mounted over them.

300GB Velociraptor (boots from it), and additional 640GB Caviar Black HD for data and some of the games.

Ran just shy of P16000 on 3DMarkVantage performance full test, which is sweet for a single graphics card setup.

Oh, X-Fi XtremeGamer sound card.

Replacing the internal V8 stock 70CFM fan as it seems to rattle a bit at high RPM.. the replacement I’m dropping in pushes about 110CFM, so that should drop the CPU temp quite a bit too.. maybe clock it up to 4.0GHz? Could do that now, but want to keep it relatively ‘safe’. Adding a couple of high CFM case fans too - will end up with a 200mm 140CFM and a 120mm 96CFM intake fans, and the same again for exhaust… will be a regular wind tunnel going through my case heh..

It leaves my old PC for dead.. a Dell Dimension 4600 (Pentium4, 2.66GHz) with 3GB RAM and a Radeon 512MB Xtasy X1300, which actually did a pretty decent job for what it was, but it couldn’t cope with many of the newer games coming out… or it at least tried, but badly. Given it to my g/f’s mother, as it’s way more than adequate for her needs.

spend the 15 bucks already you cheap ba$tard and come to WOW realm Blackwater Raiders….look up Autolycos and I’ll powerlevel ya

Yeah the EVGA motherboards are fine too, but here’s the thing, SLI-ing 3x GTX 285 is not worth the dough. With what, a 10% boost that is not visible to the naked eye, but prolly distinguishable on 3D MARK.

THE V8 IS HUGEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE! It’s almost impossible to find a case that could fit it, especially if your case comes with a monster 250mm FAN. The RAM Fans you speak off are the Corsair Dominator Coolers.

Nice HD, crazy speed. although I’d prolly get an additional 640gb and RAID it. Not a big fan of sound cards, always happy with on board stuff, so yeah.

Overclocking is the way to go! Clock it hard and clock it fast. i7’s are meant for pushing the limit. The thing with additional fans are the additional noise, but then again the bigger the fan, the higher the CFM at a lower RPM but finding space for it is the problem.

Enjoy your rig!

Yeah three of them is prob a bit over the top, and more than I need - heck, Crysis runs fine on high settings with just the one card. When the prices drop some, I might add one more, but that would be all.

THE V8 IS HUGEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE! It’s almost impossible to find a case that could fit it, especially if your case comes with a monster 2[b:3noo2rav]0[/b:3noo2rav]0mm FAN. [/quote:3noo2rav]

LOL yeah the V8 is massive.. looks sweet too. Replaced the fan inside it a couple of hours ago - much quieter now, and way more airflow. The Sniper case is one of the few that can handle it with headroom to spare.. it’s 21.7” high, 10” wide, and 22.3” deep.. and they call it a mid-tower!! It’s bigger than most full towers..

[img:3noo2rav]http://xtreview.com/images/Cooler%20master%20storm%20sniper%2001.jpg[/img:3noo2rav]

Looks a bit like a big air conditioner hehe. The big knob on the top front controls the speed of all the case fans, which is pretty neat, plus the inside of the knob is actually a press button which switches all the case lights on/off (the 200mm fans have blue LEDs in them, and I’ve got a couple of 12” blue cold cathode rods to put in there too, since I got them for free. I keep the lights off most of the time though.

I should really take some photos of it. The inside of the case is unpainted metal which is ok, but I might spray it all black to match the outside later.

Dropped the clock down to 3.6GHz today to keep the temps down.. when I did the 3.8GHz clock last week it was about mid 40s (F) here.. this week we’ve had mid to high 80’s last 3-4 days and it’s pushed up the core temps quite a bit.

Sorry, going on a bit about it I guess.. my first ever build and first proper overclock, so it’s all still a novelty for me.

:)

Don’t worry, if and/or when the novelty runs out, you can upgrade to water cooling!

If the novelty of that ends, there’s phase change, peltiers, thermoelectric, etc etc.

And when that ends (together with all the cash in your wallet), you could try venturing into liquid nitrogen. To prove the the triumph of lunacy over sanity, get liquid helium.

Looking forward to the pics and the pre/post mod shots.

Just wish to point out the new changes to bard seem a good example to me of improving a class without overpowering it.

Getting an AC point or hitting an ether is not at the top of the scale for gaining more power but it sure does give the class some more options.

It would be good to see similar improvements to monks, not over powering them, just giving players more options on how to play there class. Something along the lines of defensive stances, special effect attacks when fighting with poles or staffs, special kicks or something.

Its not a song that gives you AC , its a song that allows you to get -1ac max more than other classes apparently..

Ohhh… little use unless u have leet gears then. Hitting ethers is kinda nice, esp if it hits harder than spirit hammer.

Shrugs, with a cleric in your class order you can create a spiritual hammer which will hit ether mobs. Granted it might not have the best dice roll, but you can sing lion chorus which will give you +4 extra damage.

As for AC song I was under the impression that it was -1 AC, not -1 AC_max as well, untill i read the help file and someone who was wizinvis said that it was -1ac_max not -1ac which is really weird. Why would a bard prime level 21 need a -1 ac_max song

This is a good run btw ;)

One of the best.

Is Obama spreading the wealth around???

<LINK_TEXT text=“http://www.bostonherald.com/news/region … ition=also”>http://www.bostonherald.com/news/regional/view/20090826feds_stimulus_money_sent_to_4000_cons_herald_report_spurs_probe/srvc=home&position=also</LINK_TEXT>

One day after the Herald reported some surprised Bay State inmates - including murderers and rapists - were cashing in $250 stimulus checks, federal officials revealed the same behind-bars bonus was mailed to nearly 4,000 cons nationwide.

A federal watchdog is now probing how the cons were cut the checks. The same cash also may have been sent to fugitive felons, people kicked out of the country and even individuals now deceased.

It’s all part of the massive American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 - and what is becoming an accounting nightmare for red-faced feds.

“President Obama’s $787 billion stimulus bill has done more to help convicted criminals than it has to actually boost our economy and create jobs,” said Republican National Committee spokeswoman Sara Sendek.

[b:t4t4qu8q]The Inspector General of Social Security is now tracing the checks that were mailed to 3,900 prisoners at a cost of nearly $1 million after yesterday’s report in the Herald.[/b:t4t4qu8q]

And the same did not occur w/ Bush’s stimulus checks?

If not then the only possible conclusion is clear: Obama loves murderers and rapists and wants to give them our money!

[img:2fsuk9uu]http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_fmkpsE1eqko/SkwwlCBy-iI/AAAAAAAAAtQ/IntpRcS6TaY/s400/idiots.jpg[/img:2fsuk9uu]

Good to see Mike on the citizens watch after being asleep the last 8 years.

You care about tax dollars only when your party is not in power.

Wingnuts….

You laff now Mosaix, but just wait until Obama turns us all into his zombie sex slaves! Then you’ll be sorry…

I have posted plenty of grievances I had with the Bush admin. To me it isn’t about Republican versus Democrat. It is about Federalist versus Anti-Federalist. If you want the federal government to own all the business and control industry then that’s fine your entitled to your opinion. But seriously stop trying to distort mine.

I don’t see how we could possibly make your opinions look worse than they are. You can’t post that bs without expecting to get flamed. As if you didn’t already know that…

It did not take me long to find this.

It’s worse than that. I’m furious.

I don’t get so riled up when the gov occasionally robs a lil from the middle class to give to the poor as they are sometimes inclined to do.

But to give these truly vast sums of taxpayer money to corporate criminals.

It’s time for a tax revolt.

edit: not to mention the fact that the government and the president himself are pretending they didn’t know about bonuses when the bailout was made. This is a plain lie, and so is the morale outrage they are playing to the camera.[/quote:3twwd05f]

So it looks like you are also against taxpayer supported hand outs. What a crazy opinion….

I didn’t knock you for your anti-federalist position. It’s a perfectly respectable point of view.

I knocked you because you took an article that was about a bureaucratic blunder in the handling of the stimulus package and gave it the following header:

Is Obama spreading the wealth around???

  1. It makes it sound like obama was responsible and did it on purpose.

  2. It makes it sound like stimulus checks are Democrats looting the treasury and passing out money. Economic stimulus money is a continuation of Republican economic policy.

As mosaix pointed out I dont remember u getting so bent out of shape when the Republicans did this.

And yah, I occasionally rant as well. U caught me.

Been playin Crysis, Medieval II, GuildWars on and off. and loving my new PC upgrade (3.8GHz i7, SLI using 2 x GTX 285 SSC, 3 x 2GB RAM at 1600mHz, and a 300GB Velociraptor.. all on Vista 64-bit).

IceQueen is as awesome as ever, and NYC is.. well.. NYC.

That’s about it. Hope you’re all well! Hang loose and full of juice.

Thx for the update, good to hear from you. Good luck with the job hunt!

Unemployed/underemployed, and still playing games.

Good Work! Gratz Weasel :)

Looking forward to hearing about you finally moving out of your mom’s basement before you hit 40yrs of age.

I see some things never change huh - once an assh0le, always an assh0le.

BTW I don’t even live in the same friggin country as my mother LOL! Are you projecting, Mosaix? Yes, I believe you are. How old are you now - 10 going on 40-ish?

Ah well, I’m happy I have progressed and am achieving things in life.. unlike some..

So long, and thanks for reminding me just what an assh0le you are Mosaix, and one of the reasons not returning was such a good move. Pretty sad that you still have no life outside of SlothMud ..LOL you loser!

biggest snake ever!

Congrats Juggleblood on making Weasels signature, you must be proud. Weasel sure knows how to hate doesn’t he. He might look friendly, but beware the sharp teeth.

I’m pleased for ya Weasel, and all the best etc, but you don’t need to come back here and be that way, it was crap reading the crier this morning. :(

Indeed.

I really have to wonder what you guys got against Weasel. I find it humorous at best that some political view gets you seriously hating. I personally thought Weasel was a positive for sloth. See Weasel was out helping people instead of playing newbie pthieves and stealing from his clan mates. There are reasons that serious players leave and don’t come back. I miss Sloth a lot, but not this shit.

Actually Sloth misses you guys just as much Medios, Weasel, and the rest of you.

I will be the first to admit that while we get new players and the game continues on, its just not the same sometimes.

Either way, hopefully the game will always be here if/when you choose to come back and mess around.

I certainly hope to see you guys online again,

Splork

yes i miss o school playa’s:)
