Quest?

·2008 words·10 mins

Hi fellow sloths,

had to skip out on the quest this morning to go to work. Could I convince someone to post a wrap-up, to keep me awake here?

Thanx

Demonic-Cloud was dissapointing.. over powered mob.. with insta-death attack

prize was a tri-token and non-prime bard harp that loads in Roogna

as i said.. it was dissapointing..

Impressive..

Big thanks to Ever and Lis for wasting 5 ethereal scrolls. The group ran pretty smoothly, alot better than Baraneth group. I apologize to group that there is no reward, not sure what to say about such a hard mob. I would say it was fun, but killing a person every round with no chance to heal is hardly much fun.

Mike

Oh he was the only mob in the quest? Guess I owe everyone a beer. I turned up for the last two rounds, sponged the xp and left again! I assumed he was only part of the quest. Had intended to just offer my meager +15 dam to the process. Thanks to Minstrel and everyone for letting me jump in and out.

Well, it was certainly a challenge. I’m glad I was able to participate, I’m pretty sure it was the most exp I’ve seen on a single mob. I don’t know if we could have done it without the ethereal scrolls. Thanks Lis & Ever.

Charles

It sounds like you went through the same thing I went through in a quest with Zarc a long time ago. He created Ball Lightning and killed us in the same manner with it for about an hour. Then we got a Ring of Wizardry for it.

As far as I’m concerned this is an all-time low. I know some Imm’s will say “Hey next time I won’t run one at all. " Cool, if it’s gonna be a lap harp and a tri token for drachma and xp, don’t bother.

I lost 160 mil, I died 3 times, I shocked 2 of three times. Each time there was NO chance for a heal, which means I took over 1260 damage in one round with wraithform and greater fluidity and parry, at -11 and whatever stupid protection spells I had up at the time.

I’m sorry, but that is insane. I lost 160 mil for something I found NOT fun. That quest wasn’t a quest, it was just a way to slaughter mortals. I’m trying to be as nice as possible about this, because I was so mad I had to log off sloth, but I’ll never join a quest again if I have to tank it if I know I"m gonna die 3 times in 10 minutes with no chance of a heal.

All I can suggest is think more about what you’re putting mortals through before you “stick it to them”.

-Toxis/Brad

That quest was my bad. I wanted to playtest a mob with you guys and unfortunately, i didn’t have enough forethought to get some quest eq requested for you all - it was a spur-of-the-moment thing. I am quite sorry it sucked….i was watching the fight from as many points of view as i could to see where tweaks were needed and i got a lot of info. I wish we had had more worthy rewards for you other than a tri, a harp and a “see ya later, thanks for playing”. i do appreciate all who joined in the effort to kill fracto. those who have comments, ideas, etc about the mobs, feel free to post here or email me at ember@slothmud.org . i will not guarantee that all ideas will be used, but they -all- will be read. i’m still new to writing quests and stuff, so forgive me for overpower/underreward. once again, i would like to say thanks for all those who joined in the fight. you guys are the best.

Ember

Well, if you want advice:

If your mob is chewing through players like that, purge the mob and restore the mortals - they’re raised with no chance of shock. Lower the +hit or +dam, and try again.

I dont know what to say about quests other than

I miss Dug.

Mike

I have to question the response to the quest here.

By placing a “bag” in the inv, you are most definately indicating prizes.

“Someone” early on was bugging and bugging Popa to lead a group and that it “would be worth his while” to do so. To bait a leader with rewards and not deliver is simply unacceptable.

To fill that bag with a harp, and a tri token, is insulting even to a valker for the work/death that was done to the group. Why even put a bag there at all?

Test mobs fine, but the comments here dont add up to the experience given to the group. Im sure it was a real laugher up there, personally I didnt find it very funny.

During a next “time” you would be hard pressed to get a group together to do much of anything for you, let alone quest again. How many times can you bait the mouse to the electrified cheese?

Mosaix

None of this is “unacceptable”. If you join a quest, the only thing you’re guaranteed is deaths. You may have a chance for some reward, but you shouldn’t feel like you’re entitled to anything. There’s a chance for some rewards, but it should never be automatic. If you don’t want to take some chances, never join a quest.

These are just my opinions, obviously.

i dont know what you people want..

but my main reasons for joining quests are

#1 a killer piece of eq

#2 harrassing a large captive audience

of course.. not necessarily in that order

I didnt really expect anything except a bag full of low-mid eq for the group to be honest. I could care less about rewards, but making a mob that hits for more than the tanks hp every time is odd. It forced us to use drachma scrolls to kill it. There is no other way. If I am wrong speak up.

Mike

There was no other way to kill that thing. It’s ridiculous to suggest that a mob like that even needs ’testing’. What is there to know? If a mob hits for more than 1300 a round thru buffs, it’s gonna drop at least one tank every round.

I can’t believe an imm would put an empty goody bag on a quest mob and then start enticing players to kill it, while there is a perfectly good desert group running. It ruined our group, caused a bunch of corpses, and wasted 5 ether scrolls. (I’ll try to comp you one by the way Ever)

For what? NOTHING

I can understand if a quest group fails to succeed and thus walks away from a quest empty handed.

But for a group to succeed in killing a mob as big as the Bal Harbor Junk Dealer and walk away empty handed…

 It’s not a joke, it’s an insult.

Blame Judge, he has been killing people at random with his gavel and not restoring them a lot lately. I think he’s pissed off at Sloth for some reason.

Reb said she tried to get a restring or something added to no avail. I think the bottom line is that if it is MOB TESTING, then the mob should get tweaked and the players get restored. I have tested many and many-a mob for imms and NEVER NEVER would have them spend their drachma. IN fact I would likely just keep restoring and watching mob behaviour and then godsanc everyone for helping me.

**Edit - Having said that, everyone screws up and has a bad day. Lucky for me people are human enough not to hold it against someone forever when it happens. Otherwise I’d be run outta Lyme on a rail.

probably we could kill it w/o ether scrolls. we could set 2 or 3 tanks and manage a healo for every tank. so they would split damage and don’t die every round. I guess it was suggested (by leader as I can remember) but ether scrolls were much eazy. and sure we didn’t expect no reward.

my first though even was that we didn’t get any reward for ‘cheating’ quest mob with ether scrolls but now I know I was wrong.

and what about prize… sure you do remember times when you have to donate eq when you join the quest group and all you could expect was to get back this or not worse piece of eq. and there were no drachma at all. could you say there was no fun?

p.s. or do I post something like this just because those scrolls were not mine?

p.p.s. well i’ll try to compensate at least one.

my first though even was that we didn’t get any reward for ‘cheating’ quest mob with ether scrolls but now I know I was wrong..[/quote:9adzyj69]

ether scrolls are not cheating.. anyone can get them at anytime.

and what about prize… sure you do remember times when you have to donate eq when you join the quest group and all you could expect was to get back this or not worse piece of eq. and there were no drachma at all. could you say there was no fun?/quote]

i would give up pieces of eq to join a QUEST that’s fun and enjoyable.

mob-testing that’s being camouflaged as a quest, on a mob that’s completely overly powerful, resulting in many deaths, etc. is not fun.

Ppl like Toxis should stfu and be glad they even run quests.

More bitching and no quests for idiots!

perhaps since you were not part of this quest and know nothing about it.

you should be the one to stfu

i have been slothing for 11 years now and listening to people like you say (you should be happy they even run quests) well stfu already.. it’s old..

they run quests because we play.. we play cause there is a game.. and the games exists because we all are bored and like to kill text things.. so in response to you ker.. if you don’t play and you were not in this quest.. you have no ******* right to say anything to Toxis or anyone else about it.

Leave the Toxis abuse to those of us more certified to handle it.

Ker shut the fuck up

The Negator Demon attempts to bash Toxis, but bounces off and is sent sprawling!

he might not be a great tank.. but he sure is solid.. err fat.. fatty!!!

Ppl like Toxis should stfu [/quote:9eyx2i1b]

Ker, You need to be the one to [b:9eyx2i1b][u:9eyx2i1b]STFU[/u:9eyx2i1b][/b:9eyx2i1b]

I’ve been mudding off and on since Sloth I back in 1992, and although Banedon is still slightly crunchy, I can honestly say that Toxis is a damn good tank and group leader, and knows what the hell he’s talkin about, so if he wants to bitch, I say more power to him, he’s earned a little bitch time.

Just my 2 cents worth

Banedon

Banedon, stop ruining Brad’s reputation by saying that! :)

And umm, if you are doing a mob test - tell the leader that it’s the test, make him or her talk the group into testing it and restore them after. That’s when noone is waiting for any reward.

no big deal to die in quest group for no prizes…

i die all the time for no prizes and no quest…

postscript: this one time i walked out of bh inn and got crushed by tiamat. right on the damn street. corpsed and lost my new rock boots (what a bummer!) and you all should know better then to pick a fight with the junk dealer.
