PvP or No PvP

·1456 words·7 mins

I am not sure if this is a bug or deliberate but I always thought sloth was a NON PVP mud, tonight a player turned wyvern form and almost killed 3 people. Personaly I think that needs to be fixed so they get slapped by a demon or something instead of being treated like a mob.

I know this is not the first time this has happened and I am assuming it is because when a player changes form like this they become a mob, and therefore are able to attack other players. Like I said I am not sure on this so please do not quote me on it. I just feel it should be changed or something before some newbie gets blasted by another player, or a room full of them for that matter.

Sorry Splork it’s not NOXIOUS posting like the others but I feel this is a legitimate thing. :D

and if my wife quits the game over this since she is one of the 3 who almost died, well…I’ll not be back either and there goes 2 front liners for sloth’s all mighty groups.

Very understandable and this has actually been a problem with shapeshift and forms since its inception.

When I have time Ill try to figure something out. I really do not want to have to go through every form and fix it since the code used is different for each and every one of them.

Just please try to remember, this stuff is nothing to worry about. The players that mistakenly tried to kill your wife did not mean to. The coders who screwed up and allowed this type of stuff, didn’t intentionally do so. And if somebody died, we would reimburse the exp lost to anyone involved.

Relax, its a game and we arent here to screw anybody over,

Rick

stfu sirrico. Your not making much sense.

Here is the sense, Splork knows what I am talking about so you do not have to.

Did this individual (the pkiller) initiate combat using a special attack or just the regular kill cmd?

Also if anyone knows of a shapeshift form with special attack that works on players, let me know and I’ll fix it.

The kill command working against players seems strange to me. I don’t believe it worked on S3, did it? Or is my memory failing me? Anyway I think it’ll be fixed.

Kill command does not work if shifted on other players and most special attacks of forms are already fixed apparently.

So I am not really sure how this happened? Maybe they rescued a mob and other players assisted that player?

Splork

it happened when the player used a breathe weapon, I am assuming on a mob but it hit all of us at the well in SS and after the mob died he did not flee, he used the breathe weapon on 2 small mobs but all who were there got hit and started fighting. once he changed back the fighting stopped.

irritating thing was the smile he did :?

all of them work and that’s the point. One of the cool things about being a druid was being able to shift and kill someone even in so called safe rooms.

sorry to see these abilities changed.

Did any players have pets, some of the lower druid breath weapons area. Is it frost that areas? Can’t remember.

How is that cool? There’s no pthieving nemore, so I fail to see why we’d want that.

Area affects will still be dangerous to other players, people will just have to be more careful.

no, there were no pets, but yes it was frost that area effected.

This drivel is worse than any political thread.

Is this what we’ve become?

Word. Toughen Up - you die in sloth when a monster makes the room a refrigerator, go trade pokemon cards if you don’t like that.

A non PvP game should be just that NON PVP but hey, who cares right? let’s just exploit the system and kill off the innocent to ruin the other person’s fun.

In your case it does sound appealing.

I don’t think that having a few abilities that initiate combat with other players makes this a pvp mud. Like Splork said, if the person died then he would reimburse the lost xps. If someone’s doing this repeatedly to kill others, I’m sure that person would be corrected as well.

in my case I was in no danger of dieing, but my wife, Baby Niteraven and Paka were. So what you are saying is you would like to pvp then I advise going to another game, if you wish to pvp me try Conquer Online Tornado Server. that is where I PvP at not on a non pvp game kthxbye

I wasn’t there so you can tell me to STFU, but here is my take on it.

According to the posts it was not an intentional attack. Accidents happen especially when people get new abilities and try them out.

I recently got the Wyvern form and went to kobolds to try it out. See, I’m not always a dummy. :) It was a surprise to me that “breathe frost” was an area spell.

And a noob using an area spell where he shouldn’t is just that. A learning experience that shows them they have a lot to learn. Like I do.

Reminds me of the time some imm rained catapults. I climbed in the first one I found and went from vk to ah very quickly. Hilarious, I think I landed on some big tank and they were kind enough to raise me.

So, next time some newb area spells people or pets, give them a good toss and then raise them, if you can, to show no hard feelings.

HMm, it was I who did it.

I saw Sirrico tossing Niteraven and he was asking Sirrico to stop it. I couldnt toss anyone so i decided to test what i’ve been told before that druid forms can use breath weapon on players.

I didnt want to PK anyone, just wanted to test one thing when i saw you guys fooling around.

I wouldnt have killed anyone as i saw your autoreporters on, but i am sorry for my misconduct Sirrico.

Didnt think it would cause you guys so much pain and hardships. :(

This drivel is worse than any political thread.

God forbid we should discuss anything relevant to the game

‘We’ haven’t become nething….perhaps YOU’ve become a cynical, crabby old-skooler like Alias.

Cheers.

Reimbursing xp for tomfoolery? That is not the SlothMud that I know. Hell we couldn’t barely get an eq reimbursement for something that wasn’t our fault in the past and now your saying that any time someone dies and gets on the crier and whines hes gonna get reimbursed xp?

Then we find out that Sirrico was using toss, which is a pvp skill?

If you want a mud full of whiney n00bs I guess your satisfied. As for the old schoolers like Alias and I, it is obvious you don’t want us around.

Good day.

crabby old-skooler, ex-player, and now prob ex-poster. Enjoy the new mud folks , its just not for me.

There are plenty of old-schoolers from this game, especially since we have been up and running a solid 18+ years now.

We are happy to have “whiney n00bs” around just as much as we are to have you crabby old-schoolers around.

One hand feeds the other. The game moves forwards either way.

Splork

I’m cross generational: a whiny old skooler
