If this continues on for a long period of time, will I be able to use Starbuck and Stella as normal characters again? I think it would be fair that way since if pthieving is not allowed, pkilling shouldn’t be either.
Oh well, something tells me pthieving is never going to be a part of this MUD again. Nothing I can say, you’ve all got what you wanted =) It’s been a really fun time.

IF this is -permanent- , I’d presume legitimized pkilling is also history (except in chaos / tournys), and thus redundant pthief chars would be allowed safely back into normal play - since they can’t pthieve anymore, I don’t see why not, but others may think differently. This isn’t a change in attitude towards pthieving on my part, just what I think is a fair compromise.. others of course are free to think differently. If this is only a temporary measure though, forget it.
Thanks KJ and presumably Splork and the rest of the immort crew for this change in policy - I hope, given time, we will see the playerbase start to grow again.

In conjunction with this change, (I feel that) Chaos areas/zones should be exempt from this, and always have it ‘on’…(possibly arenas as well)…as far as when/where it will be turned on in normal game play(if ever) is another tangent…

If this is going to be replaced by eq randomly degrading and poofing, then I vote for the return of pthieves.
If any clan members of DoW are bored, they are more than welcome to help me pop the required comps to finish a flux of dreams.
After that I have lots of forges that could use a comp or 2 to finish.
Im sure other DoW members have similar eq needs.
Already seen sloth 4, and won that quest. April fools quest. Mike and Al rounded out the top 3 prize winners. Would be old news.
If pthieving was the only way you could be entertained in Sloth, you likely needed an new outlet to have fun anyway.
If more people play rather than quit, then removing pthieving was for the best. Pthief had evolved to something more than stealing a few items. So the response to cut it off for now was justified.

Sorry Reb. I just remembered you saying that you know who Hades is, but you won’t say. I also noticed that Shaz and Hades have a similar writing style. So I started looking around old posts and find this dude Blastard/Shazuko praising our dear friend Frystenhart/Hades for being such a wonderful miscreant. Was trying to put together the pieces of who some of these disruptive jerks are. Guess it doesn’t matter now, so I’ll drop it.

I’ve put a lot of effort over the past week into scoping out what other muds are around, theres some good muds out there competing with us for players (and I don’t just mean on TMC charts).
It’ll be be nice to come back to sloth and feel at home again.

As far as I’m concerned SlothIII became SlothIV when the admin changed and the new classes came in. The mud, and the crew manning it are radically different than SlothIII and SlothII were.
Well, want to say thank you to the imms for trying out sloth as a no-steal mud. Will definately allow more freedom and in my opinion keep some of the newer players around long enough to find out how awsome this mud can be. Note to Poolp, Hades, etc… I hope that you can find some other aspects of the game that keep you interested and this decision doesn’t drive you away from sloth.

Of course the reason I could pthief in the first place was that I’ve been playing in this MUD long enough to know it awhile. I come back once in awhile to pthief because I have the urge to play a MUD, and this is the only one I know well, and I’m too lazy to level a char again. Yes, truth be told I don’t actually have an avatar char that plays often , just a very inactive one.
So if you’re willing to be so nice, just to clarify; will you treat me as just another ordinary player if I were to confront you with my level 10 char (at the moment) someday?
Actually I’d only be willing to get back into the MUD and play for real if pkilling me for pthievery wasn’t allowed anymore. I don’t want to risk being devoted to a char and getting myself looted at the end of the day.

Of course it wasn’t only the pthieves who said this. Plenty of people believed it because it’s been a part of this MUD ever since it existed. But oh well, I guess some of the immorts were a little concerned about players who wanted to leave because of it. Probably the first time a strike could change something of this magnitude. Quick, now go on strike for a chaos quest every weekend =)

Nicely put, I was taking a break from sloth because I didn’t like the idea of cycling gold/eq for 6 hours just to find out that I just lost it in 2 minutes of poorly thoughtout regen time. It really sux to invest time and energy in to something just to lose it because another player wanted to be an ass huh:) I hope that the imms would also permit the known pthief chars to play unharassed the same as they just allowed the rest of us to play unharassed.

Allow me to clear this up some. This is a flat out lie. Builders on the builder’s port are not disallowed from having pthieves in the same way that imms in the actual game are.
