monk tank anyone?

·8373 words·40 mins

So I have a monk that runs 18 damage and

cant splork a thing that a +13 dam thief can. I have warrior in his classo so -11 is doable but no better. What does this say to me, monks need a prime skill (staff parry) have to wield a staff but parry just like a warrior. I think that would even monks out cant really do damage like a thief or cant get pass -11 Like a warrior prime. But put those 2 together and we would have another way to group when no warriors are on.

Just a thought

Why would you want a staff parry…you do more damage barehanded than with just about any weapon, and you can counterattack barehanded. Yes it’s not as good as parry, but it’s still strong (and with a bard singing oghams it’s roughly as good as parry+riposte)

You dont splork the mob because your using death grip which is spread over several rounds. when you get deathtouch it will be closer to a single stab. And if monks ever get parry kiss warriors good-bye. The only thing prime warriors really have is parry. It would be like giving Clerics a better supp than a JUJU -oh crap forgot about pit fiend, well that argument is over.

What the hell might as well give monks parry.

Alias

Yea that +18 dam an’t going to do no good at all compare to a “single stab”.

Not to meantion thiefs can triple stab now.

Also I could be wrong, but … does thiefs have a less lag time for rescues?

I noticed on my monk when I grip for a group and was rescued, it took like

5 rounds before I could do any actions…

Even without rescues, I believe Monks should have less lag in their rounds.

Thiefs can stab blast on the same round!!! A monk that is focusing on a kill

should be able to do the same! Grip then strike, Grip then release (extra

attacks), Grip then blast, without a round or two of lag that they currently

have. I believe the immorts can code it, that if a Monk “focus” to their MAX

they shouldn’t be penalized for a round of lag. If they don’t focus fine let

Monk lag that they currently have.

I look at it like this … each focus a monk use cuts into their sanc/aegis.

Compared to a thief that can just stab away without worring about anything.

Monks has to focus (or at least I do) to get the max amount of damage they

can do. So with this grip lag, Monks lose mana to recast sanc/aegis, are

alot slower then thiefs with stab, and still doesn’t compare to a thief single

stab.

Back to the Monk Tanking subject … let the Warrior tanks so they can die :)

as alias pointed out death grip doesn’t splork as well as a thief. the trade off being that monks can run reasonably high hand dmg and still carry some ac. that and when you get dtouch it does more than a thiefs single stab. as far as wasting time focusing, remember thiefs have to apply poison which is even slower and doesn’t allow doing anything else. monks can still run, rest, spell up, whatever while they wait on focus. the lag time after a stab vs. grip/touch seems fairly reasonable considering that deatgripping is basically taking your opponent down and puttin em in a hurt locker! it’s gonna take some time to get untangled and get back on your feet. but basically it is what it is. if you got a monk prime, don’t try and play it like a thief, find some nice nostab mobs and make the big xp. my thief has huge hand dmg. but 90% of my xp runs still consists of stabbing mobs, because that’s what he’s good at and that’s what i enjoy hitting!

[quote:3tzx6j90]the lag time after a stab vs. grip/touch seems fairly reasonable considering that deatgripping is basically taking your opponent down and puttin em in a hurt locker! it’s gonna take some time to get untangled and get back on your feet. [/quote:3tzx6j90]

agree about the lag time being right

except that if you’ve grabbed someone from behind and are choking them to death (one view of deathgrip), they aren’t going to be smashing you in the face with 6 attacks per round, they’ll be trying to escape the deathgrip or flailing…

‘The Red Sash Commander flails around from his deathgripped position, but can’t seem to hit anything’

…like a sitting mob.

wouldn’t it be nice if deathgrip affected mobs hitrate for that very reason?

oh wait…. it does….

If it does Adam (can I call u Adam :)) its doesn’t work well on bigger mobs.

They still have a thaco and will still pound your face in.

Regarding apply and focus. There is no way in hell u can tell me apply

takes longer or same as focus. I bet Varie can apply poison 3-4x as fast

as my Ki focus. Sure I can rest, cast, etc… but after apply stab splork

and I’m still waiting for my focus u can then go to the next mob.

Regarding AC … A Mo/Wa has prob the same as Th/Wa. Or basically it all

depends on your natural Str. My Th/Wa runs +23 -10 … I could be running

-7 +25 I think. My monk (low str) will be only around -6 at best.

Compare to a Monk’s full focus grip to a thief trip or even double stab …

Monks should get something else for a faster kill. Monks should also know

about the human/mob body? So they should be able to grip/strike better.

Giving this to only Prime :P just like how I feel trip stab should be Prime.

the real question is why the hell cant a bard prime get -11

bump!

the real question is why the hell cant a bard prime get -11[/quote:8a59n2vo]

They can with Warrior in 2nd, 3rd, or 4th :)

Leaf, don’t try to argue for more prime-only skills. It just makes you look like a newb. :)

I guess monks shouldn’t kill as fast as thieves. That should be the thief specialty, splorking mobs and splorking them fast. Monks on the other hand should be trying to hit bigger mobs. The grip modifier to AC should help them to fight a few rounds without taking the beating that a thief will. Well, that’s my little opinion of how things -should- work.

Chucky I’m a newbie for life, I got “NOOB 4 Life!” tattoo on my stomach!

Monks to hit bigger mobs??? What are u talking about??? Thiefs can splork

1-2 mil mobs at lvl 40 thief. Avatar Thief can splork huge mobs, depends

also if thier trip stab lands. I know Prime Monks have “higher dam reduce”

but hitting a bigger mob or the same mob still = dead monk. Unless they

really do change the % of grip and the mob thaco to still hit the monks.

I don’t understand any of the complaints really. Dogs does not have cleric or druid and cannot aegis or heal. He can do just fine killing xp. In fact I can splork pronghorns now with regular deathgrip. When I make a good roll it incapacitates them on the first rip. When I get deathtouch I will easily be splorking terracotta soldiers at 5m a pop. The thing about sloth is that every class has certain abilities or characteristics that set them apart from other classos. Has anyone followed Nab for some xp? Monk damage reduction plus free strikes easily competes with thief skills. Remember your not a thief, your monk so kill accordingly. It might take some extra time learning the mud.

Damn it Mikey support me!!!

I think it sucky that a wa/mo = mo/wa on damage wise for grips or touch.

Unless I’m incorrect ahd Monk Prime gets a higher damage multiplier like

Thief Primes do.

Monk prime starts with three more nat dam compared to wa / mo.

[quote:1yoitokb]Chucky I’m a newbie for life[/quote:1yoitokb]

This is comming more and more true every day.

yup, vaire can apply faster than you can focus, assuming he doesn’t fail or poison himself. then there’s also the matter that vaire has spent enough coins on poison to buy a mansion. vaire runs -5ac so don’t even talk about thieves running high dam w/ high ac. no stat eq just all +dam or +hit and your ac is ruined being a thief. a single stab by vaire at +29 dmg does less than his death touch does at +35 hand dmg. just a mob being nostab means that it has more xp in it. there are few 5mil mobs that vaire can stab splork with a double (never rely on trip stab you’ll hit maybe one a run), but many nostab mobs that can be splorked will cap you. ohh ya, thiefs are sposed to kill fast, you’re a monk go get in touch w/ your inner child or something. don’t forget that monks get same hps as thieves, but monks also get MANA even though they only have one spell. the problem is your compairing what avatar thieves do to what the lil monk does with his deathgrip. ask any dtouching char, it rocks.

Lvl 40 Thief can do more stab dam then a Monk Avatar at lvl 30 :)

Also I never said Thiefs will have more AC then Monk. I’m saying they are

about the same.

Figured I should throw some comment in on this thread as the person whose been grippin and touchin for the longest. I play Nab and to put it simply…. if you want to play just like a thief… play a thief. Mike summed it up already but to reiterate you should know your characters strengths. Monks excel on nostab mobs… period. There are plenty of nostab mobs on lyme once you get your monk there. Stab mobs that thief’s traditionally hit are well… best for thieves. A high damage monk with deathtouch can do some of these mobs reasonably well.

I’ve menttioned this several times to folks in game but don’t underestimate deathgrip. It really is quite effective and remains so even at high avatar lvl considering the lower hitrate of deathtouch.

I will agree that the difference between prime and nonprime grip/touch damage is negligable. I’m not sure where Nick got his info about primes having +3 more damage to start but it may be true. Nonetheless nonprimes can grip/touch for essentially the same damage which is a bit scrubby. I’ve seen this first hand in tests in the arena. My 2 cents is it shouldn’t be so… primes should to more damage. The counter argument has always been that prime have kensai etc. but …. kinda flimsy argument to me.

Finally the ac thing…. I guess it depends on how you want to run your monk and whether you have warrior in classo. I can tell you that if you run high dam with ALL the possible damage eq at 5x40 and 18/100str you won’t get better than -8ac….. and I’m pretty sure that’s whether you have warrior in classo or not.

Peace,

Keith

I stand corrected… Mike just informed me -9ac at max damage for a monk prime with warrior is possible.

completely missing the point. -hit is strictly not -attacks (think ‘slow’), which is the more realistic result of a deathgrip . also you can’t web something that’s being gripped so the -hit that you do get atm gives you no real advantage.

At least Keith agree somewhat regarding the grips/touch. :)

Alberich needs more +hit eq? 8)

Finally have a little time off from work to catch up on things, so heres my 2 cents.

Lemme see, monks run into the same problem as thieves where ac is concerned, damage or stab.

Bane went from a constant -8 ironed with 6 hand dam and 18/30 str to a -5 ironed with 13 hand dam with 18/100. granted, that would be a little better if i had some of the more elite eq, but still, there is that big trade off, and depends on how a person wants to run their monk.

I also agree with the idea that mobs should be SEVERELY hampered in their ability to hit you back while you are behind them choking the living hell out of them.

As for tanking, I have learned that besides the fact that my classo isnt the best idea ive ever had, monks are best in a supporting role as a 2.tank or stabber, that way they can get in and do the damage they are able to do, without taking the beating that their lower ac normally entails.

again just my 2 cents.

[quote:4x9o2x5b]Blastem[chat]> ‘hehe[/quote:4x9o2x5b] and I reply hehe was quite funny ;)

iirc that episode ended in a raise LOL

In all reality I run mostly 2 man with thieves and monks when I do play. I’ve got to say I’ve made as many xps running behind Nab as I have any thief. Monks have a ton of very useful skills if you play them correctly. Thieves are mainly based on first initial damage. As many know I used to run a small Ba/Mo who at lev 40 … thats 1x40 took out a few avatars in the arena using skills that are NOT prime to either class. It took a few times before a few learned how to combat these techniques. Yes this char was handicapped by the recent AC rules (no warrior) but ya know I still like her. Every class has advantages yes even clerics and mage primes if you learn to use them correctly. I guess the main thing I have to say is look at what you have and use it don’t sit back and complain that you can’t solo X mob and someone else can, because I’ll bet you there are mobs if you work at it that you can solo that they’d never think of.

Just my $.02

Paul

  1. I believe Prime Monks should do more damage on grips/touch/strikes

then non-primes. (Again if Primes do have more damage I don’t know,

Nabby also stated he tested in arena and can’t tell a difference)

  1. When a grip is successful, the mob should have a greater chance of

-hit and or lose an attack. Currently now mobs still have a high thaco so

I still get a beat down (ac-4). This would also help out in groups as a

monk grip, the mob would have less chance to hit a tank. It’s sad when

leaders would reather have a lvl40 prime thief stab then a Monk Avatar.

I’m able to solo with my monk and get about 15mil on a run. But would need

to regen or toss a heal after each grip (the round of lag is really bad).

Yes I understand death-touch is the $hit as Alias posted, he splorking a 5mil

mob. But from lvl 40 prime all the way to lvl32 avatar is a little hike for most.

Regarding some “skills”, for Monks we got Counter, Focus for attacking mobs.

Grips does most damage on the first grip, and then most ppl “release” cause

the number of attacks they can get in the next round does more then the

second grip round. Using other skills/spells from other classes are great

but those skills/spells can be used with Thiefs or any other chars. (wraith)

Just look at Monk as a class by itself and its pretty handicap compare to

other classes. Warriors was one class that needed improvment, Monks be

NEXT!

(Regarding my exp runs, they usually are Pronghorns, Irap).

+3 more damroll innate. theres your more damage for prime, how many more times do we have to say it. Nab and Dogs splork way bigger shit than I can, some of it is because they are great players and some of it is because they are prime. there is more to the monk class than damroll. While yes I wish there was a double deathtouch I don’t hold any hope that it comes about. I only splorked a 5 mil mob cause u were bitchin’ it make much more sense for me to tank dot or et for a stabber and make way better xp/hour. Wanna up you splorking ability take a bard w/u who knows what they are doing, add a blaster and your run could be endless.

I’m done w/ this conversation here. if u want to hear more of my bitching ask in game.

Alias

Come on Todd, u know I don’t have my usual mudding time frame since

I’m back to work.

Speaking of bitching, weres my whiner!!! :)

Relax Yo!

i think dogs is rolling with a freakin great helm

that might help the 9.0 thing but you may be able

to pick it up elsewhere i havent looked

Ok that’s it. Tanks need some attention. I want things set so I just have to type ’target mobname’ and the facker drops dead on the spot out of fear. and it must also load whatever I dam well tell it to.

To rehash:

tell mobname load 10,000 drachma.

target mobname.

get all corpse.

sounds fair to me.

only if it’s a prime skill!

this is why i really didn’t want to play the “realistic” card when i talked about lag for gripping. yes leaf i spose if you have a mob pinned down it wouldn’t hit you as often. of course when you chop 7 limbs off a mob it probly shouldn’t hit you as often either. i’ld also like to see you put a black dragon into that choke hold, or any other mob larger than a human. just be happy you can still choke that chicken!

and yes monk primes do more dmg than non primes. vaire has more hand dmg than nab (mostly from quest items or thief dmg slots) and nab still splorks larger mobs than vaire can. and as dogs stated -9ac at max dmg for a monk is a tad bit better than -5 for a thief runnin max dmg. though if you sacrafice lots of +hit and wear the pretty holy eq you can hit -7. still a nice difference.

i think what we’ve learned from this string is you have stab envy and may as well just make that thief. or have the best of both worlds and make a mo/th. get that nice big hand dmg and a big focus stab, you’ll be unstoppable!!!

Dogs have ac-9 due to quest eq and his nice nat str.

Does Vaire have 18/100 without any str eq? I believe he/she should have

better then ac-5.

Maybe I do have stab envy with my th/wa and want to see my Mo/Ma do

some good dam.

Crisi (Van)

I’m not sure where the info that primes have +3more dam than nonprimes comes from…. unless someone has access to the code. However, +3dam would equate to about 30hp more……

In my opinion thats a pretty pathetic difference….. grip for 530 vs. 500? C’mon.

Perhaps prime monk should get an xtra multiplier… not +3dam.

Extra mult for grip/touch or like thiefs they get 1-2x more mult on stab.

Same with “Strike”. Yes i know its free, but a prime monk should be able

to do more then a wa/mo which does about the same currently.

i went through this with splork about once a week for a few months about a year or two ago

i think he adjusted kensai so that it adds more dmg than focus

who said prime thieves get more mutli on stab? (not talking about poison)

can anyone verify this?

I was under the impression stab (w.o. poison) was stab.

thieves get the extra multi at 40

i know cocaine at +14 dmg with poison stabbed as hard as shival with a kris

and like +22 or whatever it was

Yup that was my point that a Prime thief has more damge (i thought it was

3x more then a non-thief, however maybe it was every 3 lvl a thief gets

extra mult).

Can any1 verify that a Prime Monk has more “Grip/Touch” dam then a

non-prime monk? Same with Alias saying Monk has a natural +3hand dam.

Same with Aa saying about Ki to Focus. Then again when u fail Ki, u just

use Focus, so adding more damage to Focus has a % to fail.

I do know Prime Monks = a higher dam reducer, but I don’t think it helps

much with my -4ac.

Correction on my part, Touch is lvl38 tard. So a lvl40 monk doesn’t have

anything to really look forward to until 38 tard. Also I know I stated this

before, but maybe I don’t understand it. Crippling Strike … does this skill

improve stabs damage? If so, again weres the love for Monks?

a thief prime has stab multi of 15, grab a 1d1 dagger and test it, it’s fun. a non prime thief has a stab multi of 14 (last time i tested anyway), see above. the love for monk comes from the fact that as long as you wanna keep runnin xp, you can keep addin on the hand dmg. quit trying to compare your class with the thief class, they aren’t the same. monks aren’t meant to kill as clean and as quick as a thief. end o story. and yes monk primes have more natural hand dmg than non primes. as i said b4, vaire has more hand dmg than nab. nab does more dmg w/ his dtouch. that’s about as straight forward as i can say it. you also get to grip ethereal mobs, which if you bother to learn the mud some is a huge advantage since ethereal mobs have an even bigger xp multi than nostab mobs. you get the faster focus, also a big help, rarely is the time i ever sit around long enough to focus to full, it’s just too slow for a non prime. can a non monk prime run nostab mobs? sure they can, but not as well as a monk prime.

Fine Heck, I’ll take ur answer that a Monk Prime does more damage.

Please define what does Crippling Strike do?

(Off Website)

An assassin is practiced in the art of quietly eliminating patrols and

sentries. Using their superb ability to silently creep upon their

unassuming targets, they quickly thrust their dagger deep inside their

mark’s back. Before, the only hope they had of finishing off their prey was

kept in a tiny vial sold around our world’s many shops. Now, with a recent

discovery by Vain and Tepa of the ancient art of the crippling attack, our

hopes are renewed. As the Avatar thief grows in levels, the damage yielded

grows as well.

Reading all this makes me think you would like a single class mud with 1 class available that does everything so that everyone has the same level of power, with the same skills, with the same eq, and able to do the same mobs and run the same xp.

Whats the point of having a monk class if it does the same as thief, then again why have thief if monk can do just as well? Hell, lets give necros the power to blast like mages and do away with mages, or give druids higher heal spells than clerics and junk clerics.

So what you don’t do the same dmg with monk as you do with thief… and want to play the same style of play with monk as with thief…. then by all means play a thief, noone is stopping you.

Annnnnnnnnd CUT!

now if only my tank could tank..

Ya its an up hill battle asking for some more love that other ppl has posted.

Sooo I guess there is nothing more to post to ask more “skills” for monk.

Does anyone want to define Crippling Strike?

That wasnot geared toward you personally Leaf, or your posts. It was regarding the whole subject…

Actually, we would like to know what’s up with the troop buildup outside Degrance’s Castle. 8)

IIRC Monks get between prime 40 and 38 avatar

more dmg reduction

increased dmg

the avatar retreat thing

a better strike

a better (but still frickin useless) stun

about 250hprgn

prediction

swiftkick (like ambush but with dgrip and outside)

And then there was this

[i:371a1bhi]Maybe[/i:371a1bhi] you don’t understand it? It adds damage to stabs. The dmg that

What I wanna know is where is the love for spelling and grammar.

It’s a new class that you haven’t been playing since the dawn of time;

would it kill you to have to think and find cool stuff to solo or are ya

gonna group the whole way to 40 tard? Don’t forget that you have 3

other classes. Use them to your advantage and stop asking ignorant

questions.

<3

hey, I play a mage

could u please make my lvl 40 frostbolt do as much as a triple stab with poison. that way i could splork mobs like a thief too.

thanks

You must have never played a monk Weasnut its not a typo infact you can get more than 250

No I never played a monk, at least not prime, and no further than Valk levels if at all.. I’m fucking disgusted they’re whining with regen like that. Balance my ass.

Same shit, different day.

Yeah.. warriors - taking the risks so others may benefit. Suck at solo too - still spend a lot of time regenning when some other classes can run twice as much without even having to stop, even at lower levels.. pathetic really. I’d give up warriors but I can’t be fecked starting all over again - already found that out.

First off, I know my grammar is pretty shitty on Sloth :) Since I usually deal with my clients via emails at work. I don’t really re-read or spell check,

what I type on Sloth (place to relax).

I have 3 great classes to support my Monk Prime, however I wanted

something more as a Prime skill besides Wraithtouch. Ki may be faster then

focus, but from my understanding its the same amount of damage as regular

focus. Hence why I pushed for additional damage for a Prime stand point.

IIRC Monks get between prime 40 and 38 avatar (again I do know)

more dmg reduction (Mo in any slots… 2% less then Prime?)

increased dmg (You get +6dam for your tards I know.)

the avatar retreat thing (Yup again any monk can use if in class)

a better strike (Again anyone can use)

a better (but still frickin useless) stun yea useless

about 250hprgn (Wa/Mo gets more use of out this as tanks)

prediction (Nerfed a little but anyone can use)

swiftkick (like ambush but with dgrip and outside) cough anyone can use

I’m asking for something more as a Monk Prime. Besides of the benefits that

have been posted Wraithtouch and Ki, Why should anyone pick Monks as

Prime???

Yes I know I have to compare “Thiefs” again, because they are the closest

class to monk with quick damage. Thiefs can backstab ether mobs with

their posion. Crippling Strike adds damage. Per what every 10 levels?

Something that adds more damage on the first hit. Monks have nothing

to improve their grips until lvl 38 tard. Also Aa I posted at the begining

that touch was lvl 32 monks. I was posting that comment to correct what I

posted earlier.

Here’s an idea, to -start- to even things up.. make defy usable once an hour instead of once a day (real time), so at least warrior primes have a chance to kill ONE bigger mob every hour instead of never, while some other classes can take out anything in the game whenever they want.

Here’s another idea - give warrior primes inherent and realistic HPregen rates, rather than worse HPregen than a number of caster classes get. It doesn’t even make sense the way it is.

and yes, I R hijacking this thread :P

Open a new topic Ferret!!! This way ppl can say No, and Create a Thief.

Also Aa, I do know how to solo … well somewhat with my monk.

But the LAG from grip needs to be improved, or something. Ooo lookie

here, I’m asking for more lovin!

[img:2d2mt2tm]http://www.acc.umu.se/~zqad/cats/1161382097-1160874279033.b.jpg[/img:2d2mt2tm]

actually, there is ONE poison that effects ether mobs - it’s a pain to brew (you can’t buy it) and it only applies the damage of the poison, not your stab damage (unless it’s been changed.) It is in no way comparable to wraithtouch.

while we’re on the subject of wishing for ponies and highways paved with gold - lets give thieves parry too, to make up for having no AC, low HPs, and no mana regen. That way we might survive more than 1 run in 2!

I think the problem is that you people don’t know how to mud very well and you blame it on your characters. Jesus Christ, get a grip. This shit is getting retarded. I honestly don’t know what else to say.

“Stupid is as stupid does” If you think this shit is retarded, quite adding to

the posts :P

Contemplation is a monk skill that gives increased resting hp regen. Dogs currently gets 282 hpr when resting in his dmg mode. I know you say its so much and yadda yadda. Honestly contemplation is the only skill that I have available to heal myself. Well I can use soul infusions but try and make enough of those to heal when you got 400 mana and you need most of that for spells. I created Dogs to prove that almost any classo can be functional if you learn it. Of course I cannot run much eq mobs with Dogs, my mr is too low to regen and 2 run something. However he is great to group and do smallish xp or coins with.

Clue: Hellwell is half ethereal.

Clue: Elemental school is nostab.

Yes Hellwell cells are every other for ethereal.

Elemental is nostab and mostly “Mage” type kill there for gold. (When I’m on)

Got one :)

U could have included Pronghorns, Irap, and some ET maybe first lvl.

Hellwell is harder for grip and blast, due to the lag. So u will usually get

hit pretty hard on the turn around. (Then again i know Dogs at ac-8 or -9)

Here let me go back and bitch from the start:

More Grip/Touch/Strike for Prime Monks

Have mobs lost attack or alot more -hits once gripped, but not touch

Reduce the lag time for grip, would like to do something in group/solo

Actually thats about all I’m really “bitching” about. Just to see some better

improvements, since Warriors/Thiefs getting more skills.

Has there been any changes to Monks since the start? Ooo besides reducing

+hand dam eq, and Predictions?

Supplemental Clues:

Necropolis

Desert Palace Guards

Olympus

Irapuete/CG Archers and Alerts

CK terracotta warriors soldiers and sentries and turtles

nymph followrs/Pronghorns/drunks/beniqula

do some autos, get some spelldmg to help when you fail your monk shit

Currently low lvl so I can’t get that nice high dam to grip and kill them. I

usually get wacked on the second round, due to my ac-4. I also have

37 spell dam, a little low. Again I would cast if I could, usually due to grip

lag I have to recall. I can’t “release” and flee, cause I’ll be dead by then.

So for me its usually Ki up, Grip, get beat, blast. If they don’t die, I hope

my second blast kills it. If it doesn’t, 80% of the time I’m dead.

Since we’ve been comparing monks with thieves, I’d just like to point out that if you don’t kill a mob in the first round or two while stabbing, you’re probably not going to survive either.

It’s the price we pay for being able to solo a multi million xp mob in seconds.

If someone will aegis Dogs, or I have a charm I can easily kill the whole hellwell. I have had to stop and rest for a tick when there is a bad round but overall I eat it up. The elemental school could be classified as mage mobs, but that is where you confuse yourself. Monks are best at killing ele school and mansion, not magis. We can do the blasting damage with movement points and never stop.

Of course you get a round of lag after your grip. This is just something you need to learn to work around. I played a few chars with monk before I made Dogs. I knew there was always at least one round of lag after my leading attack. This is why I opted to go with 6 attacks with maximum damage and necro for wraithform and spectral. Granted form doesn’t help for all mobs, but you would be surprised on the xp spectrum. With all my attacks if I whiff on a grip I can still issue a good deal of punishment equal to about a normal blast. I created Dogs to deal a ton of damage regardless of what he was doing. Out of mana, no problem just focus and strike. By tracking my xp I estimate that Dogs can do as much damage with one melee round as he can with a frostbolt. This does not include striking once a round. It adds up.

PS Stop trying to kill thief mobs.

And while we’re bitching can my cleric get 177 mana regen like a druid prime can, and wtf cant bards backstab?

Your cleric regen super fast anyways, and which druid regen 177?

Without Vault room and Dreams?

Bards can’t backstab cause they have a flute up their ass. Not sneaky!

Stryx and iirc Daedalus does too and its in vault with dreams, and I would like to stab you in the face with a flute too.

What do u regen in vault and dreams as druid second? 150?

Pretty much, yep, unless I get a masterful rejuv or a good fortune and get up to 158, but those dont count

I think I may have found your problem Will

[quote:3pmjva5s]Currently low lvl[/quote:3pmjva5s]

Thats still pretty good for non-prime 158 dang. My nc/ca regen like a nc/nc.

Aa, I’m lvl 11 Tard with +8 +20. Some of the mobs u talked about needs

to be splorked by touch. And I won’t be able to until 38 tard. Another

suggestion would be …. drum roll

Grip has what, 3 rounds before it counts as full damage?

Why not hum… lose a round and add it to the first grip damage?

This say a lvl40 to lvl37 tard doesn’t have that much of a gap for grips?

This additional damage can be from the lower end:

Lvl 10 Prime Monk Grip + last grip = the damage

Lvl 20 Grip + last grip + second to last grip = damage

Lvl 30 Grip +last grip + second + third = damage

Lvl 38 Grip wouldn’t be used cause Deathtouch would be used instead, as

it would combined all the damages anyways.

well you admitted it yourself will

i do like the idea of shortening deathgrip a little, condensing it

a little

I can’t wait until you start crying about the whiff rate on deathtouch.

bring it on!

I think deathtouch has already been bitched about the failed rate.

One of the immorts said they have changed it and increased it. However

some ppl said it wasn’t increased or fixed that much at all cause they fail

a lot compared to grip. Doesn’t make sense to me, since touch should be

a better skill.

I prob won’t make my monk to lvl38 tard anyways. I don’t have the time

to mud like 1.5 months ago. Haven’t played him in a week or two.

so you expect to be a super hard hitting newb?

it doesnt work that way

you have to invest time and learn your character

you cant expect to excel if you do not

I have invested time, spent like 1 month being on 8-12hrs a day in groups,

and soloing.

Never said to be a hard hitting newbie :P. lvl 11 tard takes awhile. Lead

a few groups too :P Below are my exp within that 3-4 week time period.

Looks like best was on 24th for solo exp. Did a few 2-3 man.

Sept 10th

Experience while alone 1,060,819

Experience while grouped 279,792,330

Sept 17th

Experience while alone 92,969,957

Experience while grouped 2,446,463,329

Sept 24th

Experience while alone 350,351,393

Experience while grouped 2,373,162,209

Oct 1st (Went back to work)

Experience while alone 122,452,018

Experience while grouped 2,175,073,246

Well I’m just saying I don’t expect my projects like redneck and gemynd

to be really powerful until they are around 20-30 tard or so.

Yea Redneck will be pretty Pimp if u can collect all the eq u want. Thats

more of an eq, and time issue. At work so I can’t look at Gemynd.

im just going to run -11 and as much weapon/spelldmg as I can

gemynd is 3x40 ne/ba/cl/mo he is less eq intensive yes, but redneck

isn’t totally dependent on high end shit

I think this is High end shit =

2x Arcane Rings +30 spell ~1100 drachma

Robe +25 ~400 drachma

Leggings +12 3x40

Which will be +67 spell, pretty close to the 70 max cap currently.

Maybe to me … getting a shield of ice seems soooooo far away.

i know how you feel

it will play out though

as long as nothing gets nerfed it should be a fun character
