“llinois Gov. Rod R. Blagojevich and his Chief of Staff, John Harris, were arrested today by FBI agents on federal corruption charges alleging that they and others are engaging in ongoing criminal activity: conspiring to obtain personal financial benefits for Blagojevich by leveraging his sole authority to appoint a United States Senator; threatening to withhold substantial state assistance to the Tribune Company in connection with the sale of Wrigley Field to induce the firing of Chicago Tribune editorial board members sharply critical of Blagojevich; and to obtain campaign contributions in exchange for official actions – both historically and now in a push before a new state ethics law takes effect January 1, 2009.”

“Told by two other advisers he has to “suck it up” for two years, the FBI says it heard Blagojevich complain he has to give this “motherfer [the president-elect] his senator. F him. For nothing? F*** him.”

The governor is heard saying he will pick another candidate “before I just give fing [Senate Candidate l] a fing Senate seat and I don’t get anything.”

[b:1xjfwc5r]I’m glad that the Democrat party is united in these times of change.

Here’s another.[/b:1xjfwc5r]

<LINK_TEXT text=“http://www.washingtontimes.com/news/200 … appraisal/">http://www.washingtontimes.com/news/2008/oct/18/whistleblower-hits-obama-friends-appraisal/</LINK_TEXT>

“A former Illinois bank official, now claiming whistleblower status, says bank officials replaced a loan reappraisal that he prepared for a Chicago property that was purchased by the wife of now-convicted felon Tony Rezko, part of which was later sold to next-door neighbor Barack Obama.”

Now explain this away. Is this G W Bush’s fault also? Seriously all politicians are corrupt and it sucks bad.

Yup, and the Chicago ones are the worst of the worst. Worth note: Blagojevich is the 4th of the last 7 elected Illinois governors to be indicted since 1960. Obama’s political home turf. Not so surprising a junior senator from Chicago with zero accomplishments and almost no experience makes it to president now is it..

Oh, and notice the MSM have immediately jumped on to say that Obama knew nothing about this… even though links have not even been investigated yet and it is far too soon to make any such claims. Imagine if Blagojevich was a Republican governor: MSM would be all over it creating links with Bush, and probably Palin and McCain too. Sickening.

Funny I dont remember any comments on sloth when Republican Governor Ryan from Illinoi was brought up on charges and sent to jail 6 years ago…..

If only it was about the issues, and not just Republican politics.

Lol for sure

oh those of us who live here are quite happy to stipulate they are all corrupt - it’s just that the democrats are by far the worse of the lot ;)

It’s news that Chicago/IL politics are corrupt? Shouldn’t be.

This guy is pretty funny to me, so bold and flagrant. Fun stuff.

Criticism of corrupt politicians is pointless if you don’t also blame the other party. Got it…

Let’s talk about Larry Craig vs Barney Frank. Craig gets caught in some homosexual antics and the Republicans want his head on a stake. Barney Frank who is openly gay gets his boyfriend appointed to Fannie Mae to develop subprime mortgage strategies. The Democrats want Frank in charge of the auto bailout. Which gimp will “xxxx his xxxx” for this position. Not only that Barney Frank was running a prostitution ring out of his apartment. He still holds his high ranking positions. Trent Lott was run out of Congress for simply complimenting an old man at his birthday party. Believe me Republicans are held to account, because the people in the party will kick you in the balls for any discretion. However in the Democrat party people tend to look the other way when their guy gets into some trouble. Take Representative “cold cash” Jefferson. The Feds found 90k dollars of bribe money in his freezer. The voters had to throw him out of office because the party won’t lift a finger and he is still not in jail. Give me a break. All corrupt politicians need the axe, not just Democrat ones. Don’t get your feelings hurt if this spreads to Obama. Better gag “I told you so”.

Ignorant BS.

Sit down and shut up for the next 8 years. Your party nearly destroyed the country.

If the republicans were really held to account, Rove, Cheney, Rumsfeld, Wolfowitz, and Perle would be sitting in a cell in Abu Ghraib. Bush should be forgiven, on the grounds he is mentally retarded. We could make him the national mascott.

p.s. I hope this doesn’t hurt your feelings. Better gag ‘stfu retard’.

What is illegal and what you perceive or wish to be illegal are two different matters. If these people you mentioned have done so much wrong then you would expect the Democrat controlled Congress to do something… The president did not force Hillary Clinton to vote for the Iraqi Occupation. G W Bush does not control nearly as much as you guys would want everyone to believe. I never exalted Bush, I have been critical of him the whole time. He is a moderate at best and has no resemblance to a conservative. Why do your feelings get hurt when one of your guys goes down? I am much less partisan than you have shown yourself to be. I live in Illinois. Blagojevich and Obama are both from Illinois. Pass the butter.

this thread is troll-bait

OMG, I agree with Yasik.

Yep and still managed to become president. what is it that you do again? Making sure there isn’t too much salt on the fries?

===============================================

Oh Yeah, President-Elect Osama hates America and wants to kill as many Americans as possible. True fact and backed by mountains upon mountains of evidence.

For quite some months I’ve been hearing the stories about declines in the automotive market. (Job cuts and plant closures) They were happening before the current economic crisis. It scares me when a government is going to try and salvage something that was collapsing anyways… and has been slowing down for years…

It would seem governments are trying to get people to spend… to stimulate the economy… but the cat is out of the bag… everyone’s figured out that the previous boom caused assets to become overpriced… so why in the hard times should we buy stuff that we now realize is overpriced?

I kind of get a picture of a houses foundation collapsing, but instead of fixing the crumbling foundation, they are repairing the walls and the roof when they crack with the movement. It’s only a matter of time before the foundation breaks completely and all the nails and the glue become unstuck.

I’m wondering whether the whole car thing is going to be the “dam buster” event… or will this get patched and we will all be okay until the next thing… next month. I guess Research, Development, Technology and the Military will be the next sectors to be hit… after a already protracted and expensive war in Iraq and Afghanistan.

I think the balls rolling, and it’s picking up momentum… and well… the rest is for Nostradamus. It’s a shame globalization causes everyone else to get dragged down too.

Yep and still managed to become president. what is it that you do again? Making sure there isn’t too much salt on the fries?

[/quote:1xw4uqjs]

Are you implying that we live in a meritocracy? Or that Bush is not as stupid as I claim?

If you’re just trolling, try harder. You’re losing your edge.

Edit: nice tag line btw, any bites yet?

I just can’t believe that most of you guys won’t admit that almost all politicians are corrupted in some form. I know you think I “tow the line” for the Republican party, but honestly I am one of the only people who criticizes all parties involved. BTW I have never voted for John McCain…

Call me naive, but I really think Obama is the real deal, out for the greater good that is. I also think he’s intelligent and wise.

I’ve never thought you towed the Republican line per se, but back when liberal bashing was in vogue I seem to remember you jumping on that bandwagon. Also, your claim that the Republican party holds a higher standard of accountability is debatable to say the least. And telling us all ‘I told you so.’ before Obama even takes office, isn’t just cynical, it’s egotistical.

Did you vote for Bush btw? Just curious.

Both parties have issues, no doubt about that. I registered Independent years ago.

Mike I only ever see you rail on Obama and Democrats. If it were about the issues that would be a good thing. There have been lots of issues from the right-side (Republicans), especially the last 8 years, and I never see you post about them.

Obama looks to do some good things, if it turns out not to be that, the country can elect a new president in 4 years.

I will admit that I voted for G W. I was seemingly convinced that Republicans stood for smaller government and less taxes. Well GW came through on the taxes and I got a nice rebate check that year. We made about 50k and I think we got $600 tax refund. Now I am sure that people that make more money got an even bigger refund but that is the thing. They paid in more than me and when your based on a % that is how it works.

However GW expanded govt. more than anyone that I know of since FDR. I am not ashamed of Bush for the Iraq war or for his tax strategy. I am ashamed of the way he has given future generations of executives the ability to steadily strip away our rights.

Examples

Medicare prescription drug plan (big drug company subsidy)

See for 7 years a company can charge whatever the hell they want for a drug. After that anyone can make the drug and sell it at cost. This is why now your seeing Walmart and drug stores selling $4 generics. This allows big companys to recoup R&D costs on the taxpayers backs. So do taxpayers need to be funding new drug human experimentation? I say no.

Dept of Homeland Security(another Dept are you serious?)

This adds increasingly to the role of the federal govt in your life. Is your last name Muhammad? You might need to be on this list… Did you buy fertilizer last spring? We’re watching you too. Oh sorry your 3 yr old has his name on our list, you won’t be leaving the country. Not to mention if your suspected of anything now they can basically hold you for as long as they want. Hopefully this will get busted up but look at the precedence. With the current “financial crisis” aka people spending credit they don’t have and banks calling the loans we will only see much more fed interference into banking, real estate, unions etc.

Bailouts(bank/fed reserve subsidies)

Now let me get this right. In general terms your taking about $2300 from every person in the United States and giving it to Citi, and Banc of America? Saudi prince owns a buttload of Citi?

The president has given the Treasury Secretary a way to print as much money as he wants and give it to his buddies. According to Wiki Henry Paulson was once the CEO of Goldman Sachs. Lets see if they got any money…

http://www.thetrumpet.com/index.php?q=5625.3949.0.0

“According to the report, both Goldman Sachs and Morgan Stanley are scheduled to pay out bonuses of $6.85 billion and $6.44 billion respectively….Goldman Sachs and Morgan Stanley are each receiving $10 billion from the government as part of the effort to help prop up the financial system.”

Well well well. And to boot Paulson has immunity from any lawsuit or prosecution, well played sir.

Now what does inflationary spending do? Well it inflates the currency, which lowers its value in the market, which…. raises prices. This is a hidden tax that the government likes to throw in there. Mainly lower income people are effected due to fixed income levels and necessities of life. For a long time I believed that only Democrats wanted to spend more money than we make through wars and bailouts. I guess the joke is on me. Both parties are involved in pork barrel projects for their districts and really there isn’t enough money to go around. Politicians are judged on how much money they can bring to their people not on how they help everyone equally. Its a big money game in Washington and they don’t care what a dollar will buy because they can vote themselves a raise.

Believe me I am not happy with either party. Regardless we still head into a one world govt with no fences and international laws.
