Cleric Primes seems to shock often these days and I’m wondering if there is a bug in the equation somewhere.
I was even singing Rina and Mosaix shocked two and I shocked 1, come on! Luckily Lis, our cleric 2nd, didn’t shock anyone…maybe I picked the order of my classes wrong??
This is really discouraging and I hope someone can offer an explanation. And before you ask…I have natural 18 int and wis, and I was wearing +6 shock eq
Help! I like this char and don’t want to give up on her.
i always thought that the addition of RINA was to increase the percentage of raises, and also the creation of +shock for the same.
now if the clerics havent been beaten enough, you have all (3) being achieved by a char whom only wants to help others and yet gets penalized not only by not being able to solo worth a krap, but now being pretty much as useless to raise someone as a quad cleric..
WTF is goin on? seems likes someones number crunching has been replaced by sleeping.
wake up, whipe of the drool off your cheek, pour a fresh hot cup of coffee, and lets try this again shall we?
Need to do something with Cleric Primes. Your a total fool if you pick it at this point in time. Useless to solo most mobs, become a raising healing gimp for most groups, and of course forget about getting any choice picks in a quest. At Avatar 24 im still getting hand-me-down picks. Thats total bullshit.
The spells make it even worse. Why the hell have us raise and gimp around if you have the % of failure so high? Shock eq, rina, wis, con, never seem to calculate to appropriate raise percentages. Why spend the coins on shock eq or waste the time poping it, when you shock as high as one does??!?!
I beg and plead the fellow mudders to please never pick cleric as your prime. Dont make the same mistake some of us have. I also ask the immortals to do something with this pathetic choice for a prime char. I wasted enough time on the char, i will finish it out, but currently i get more joy out of my warrior valker than i do my crusty old Cleric Prime.
I will say that suppli has made the cleric class usefull in a class order. But in no way does that seem to do anything for the Prime Cleric.
Im tired of it. You have pinned my choice of char into a corner, and Id like to not have to play that way. Fix it.
if you “cannot solo worth a crap”, that’s your fault, not your class.
+shock cap is much higher for cleric primes than others, last I looked.
If you are only wearing +6 shock, then yeah, you’re not going to raise much better than any other class (my thief wears more than that in his raise mode). If you get up near the cleric cap, you might see better results.
i am really surprised to hear that kind of garbage coming from you alberich.
NOT ONE FUCKING CLERIC on this mud ASKED for the imms to fuck up all the % for raise/shock, and most clerics has done quite well to try to compensate and get eq to balance it..
and if a large majority are having the same problem, then it more then likely is NOT their fault..
SET…MATCH…POINT
I’m on the recieving end of lots of raises auto :p I actually do notice a huge difference in how often I get shocked by cleric primes wearing maxed +shock gear and someone wearing little or none. I don’t collect data on the raises I do, but I rarely shock people with Alberich, who wears around +9shock, and Althalus wears like +6, and seems to shock people much more often. Who said the raise thing was anyones fault? Just my own observations, but, I don’t play any cleric primes, so I’ll leave it alone :)
I have to agree, Clerics have gotten a total fucking as a prime class, but then again most people know what they are getting into with it.
[quote:79ptgak2]if you “cannot solo worth a crap”, that’s your fault, not your class.[/quote:79ptgak2]
95% of the time I agree with this, and have said it many times before, but in this case, I don’t. I realize Mosaix could be a lot mroe effective as a soloer if he didnt wear grouper eq, and got dressed in some ac/dmg, but it wouldn’t help that much..and he’s no dummy, that’s not the problem.
Damn your ignorant. Cleric primes are a joke to solo. Most of the eq we aquire especially early on, is mana based. Try to heal a mob to death. Doesnt work to good. You cant fathom the pain of levling to 20 prime as a cleric. I dont argue that at my level I can get ac eq. I can do that. Hopefully most clerics have good stats like I do to even support that eq. Maybe you can compute that cleric primes are going to roll wis and int first. Then the rolls that keep the rest of you alive like str, dex and con come in. Try tanking or taking any hits with a 13 con, dex, or str.
As far as the raises go, hell with it.
No-one raise anyone if +6shock eq is so worthless. Why bother. Take the shock eq out of the game and give me the robe space back so I can use it for myself instead of raising loosers who cant con a mob properly then beg me to come raise their asses. Then I shock them anyway and they bitch and whine.
Use your damn brain.
ermm…..Dork Mace rawks!!
:P
bout the +sysshock thingy, its better to get at least +11 and above, especially for cleric primes which could easily get more coz most +sysshock eqs are cleric prime and stuff
didnt shock much though, except two days ago i just shocked 2 in a row with rina, ohh ya, and one the month b4
just talking crap here, and YEAH, cant solo shit
GO CLERICS!!! GO!!!
 KA KAW!
Clerics have never been strong solo. If you want to solo there are better classo’s to choose. If you like to heal and raise other people, then cleric prime might be a good fit for you.
I don’t know who you guys are raising, but I haven’t for the last several years had anyone bitch at me for shocking them. Personally if they complained I’d never try to raise them again.
If you don’t want to spend the rent costs or the robe space to carry around +shock gear, then don’t. I have a few miscellaneous pieces, but I’ve never been interested in carrying a whole +shock set. If someone in the group has more +shock eq, they can raise.
The victim would like to be raised, but beggars can’t be choosers. If you’re dead a raise is nice but you don’t have any guarantee, I think everyone understands that. If they want to increase their odds of a successful raise, they should run around soloing in a set of +shock gear.
Weasel is a wa/ma/cl/th 5x40 with a raise mode too..
18wis +8 sys shock shows on ‘score stats’ as
“You have mastered the art of cheating death itself.”
It stays at that level down to (and including) 18wis and 6sys shock.
At 18wis and 5 sys shock, the message dropped down to
“You have learnt many techniques for crossing the barrier between life and death.”
So presumably there is some sort of maximum or ‘cap’ for my classo and level at 18wis and 6 sys shock ?..
hope that is helpful for someone.
Alberich I apologize for coming off so harsh. Not a good real life day, and this stuff on the mud has been bothering me for awhile. However the principle of my thought stays the same.
I started Mosaix before the new classo’s went in. So i only had 4 choices when i started.
Most starting players without the prior knowledge of how the mud works, the ins and outs, the knowing of exact stats of mobs and what to kill….will not be able to run a cleric prime with any sort of effectiveness until they begin to group to get exp.
It comes down to me having had more fun with liches than suppli. I would love spectral shield and followers. Shifting into a big ol dragon would be cool, and getting 147 mana regen outside. Also being a cleric prime the way it is socially done now, allows for the interaction among players to be that of “raise me” , “heal me” and little reward for the prime cleric player, and little respect.
Its a pain in the ass to run forges you need when you are at the whim of the leader and tank running the show. I have had to leave eq groups cause they dont care to get to the healers pop choice all the while the cleric is the one keeping them alive so they can get pops to begin with. It happens more than not. That shit really has to stop.
Socially its got to change. Something or things have to be done to boost the effectiveness of Cleric Primes, so they are usefull to themselves for the purposes of EXP and EQUIPMENT.
[quote:109t935c]Socially its got to change.[/quote:109t935c]
I can agree with that, at least. You seem to be running with the wrong crowds. If someone skips your mob, find out why and make a fuss. There are some valid reasons to skip a person’s eq call, but a good leader will be up front and explain why. If they skip it silently I’d make sure they know I’m not happy.
u guys talking bout some other mud? single class one i guess?
There has certainly been alot of complaints so far in the mud. I too have my share to whine about.
Something has to be done to the balance of the classos in sloth. Maybe revamp the old classos?
Is it time for sloth 4?
i always thought that the addition of RINA was to increase the percentage of raises, and also the creation of +shock for the same.
This is how it was presented.. but I’m not sure it did. Judging by that code leak a while back, 18 wis/con gives 85%, +5 shock raises that to 90% and only rina raises that up to 95%. I -think- 18 wis/con was 95% before, but Jake’s post on that was a very long long time ago.. :)
As one of the old-style cleric soloers.. :) to me prime cleric is sort of a null class. You get caster regen, and almost decent hp, but pretty much kill mobs with your other skills. (now that animate dead was stolen!)
Oh, come on. “Little respect, little reward, can’t solo”… If you get little respect, no matter which classo you are. I have cleric prime and I’m happy to be it. Having crazy restores is kinda useful in groups and I believe ppl appreciate and respect it.
If you can’t solo, wait for a 40av supp or find ur style.
PS I’m cleeeeric (c) - that means I can do stupid things and no one will punish me. :)

I try not to talk about the code, but let me clarify this…
As of August, the base chance to raise was 50%. You could get 20% for the raiser having 18 wis and another 20% for the victim having 18 con. Total 90%. Interesting enough, the cap for raising was 90%, so if both those conditions were met, you didn’t need +shock gear. Rina gave an automatic 95%, so if someone was playing Rina, it didn’t matter what your wis, con or +shock was. Masterful raise couldn’t shock.
The date on that was last August, and I know raise has been looked at and changed since then. It’s anyone’s guess how it works now.

Does that help you solo Krokie?
personally, i appreciate clerics in groups. they keep us alive, whether we are tank or not. they also are right on the ball to relite someone if lite drops. there are a bunch of little nice things that clerics do that are very missed when clerics are not in groups. i prefer to have a specified cleric in my group organize and handle the healo. it takes a load off my shoulders and gives me time to take care of other things for the group, not to mention usually lets the group run longer because heal mana is more effectively used. as far as soloing with a cleric goes, i can’t comment on that because i have never played one. but then again, i am an eternal n00b. if i get shocked, yeah i might get upset - but not at the caster (unless that caster is leaf, but we all just love to harrass him :P ). i get frustrated at the dice roll that says it’s my time to shock. to those ppl who play clerics - THX! i don’t know how many times clerics have come to my aid. i won’t even bother naming names because there are so many of you out there. i am a wa/ma/th/cl/av and i run in NO sys shock gear. in ac, my wis is 15 and in regen is 16. my raise/shock percentage is i would say about 75% raises in either mode. yeah, i do agree that it is frustrating as hell to shock - especially if you don’t get many chances to group and those exps are hard to come by or if you are almost to next level. we need people playing ALL classes. each one has benefits to not only the person who wants that class, but to other people as well. for all you clerics out there who are feeling iffy about playing your clerics, please…keep playing them. we need you guys.
*snicker 13.
I generally think the healo gets walked over too in eq groups etc..
I try to not miss anyone, even if i have to write it down, but i would hope that if i do error to miss someone 8being it that i am still a nOOb leader*, please dont hesitate to slap me to remind me IE daedalus :P
not that i would ever want to publicly embarras my top 3 fav clerics. But for Cami, Mosaix, and Rawr. I do appreciate everything you do for me and my groups, and how hard you try to keep us all not dead.
13, nope, my other 3 classes and supps help me solo :))

when i run groups, i put in my group title EXPS (or whatever else i happen to be choosing to run that day). yes, i pick up eq mobs when running, but that is because normally, those mobs are in the run for that area and i am going to be hitting that mob anyway. if i forget/omit a mob from cycling it, it is either because we can’t hit that mob due to not having enough players in group for that mob or some other reason - not having a key/not knowing the run/too hard to get to the mob. those are just a few factors. i will usually try to hit all calls, and some days i even encourage beacons eq in the group. never do i purposely not hit a call by omission. i will usually tell the person calling that eq my reason for not hitting that mob because i don’t want that person to feel singled out and ignored. for those of you who follow me and i do forget your mob when you are currently calling it, please ask me why. i will give you a reason, or i will let you know it was simply accidental that we didn’t hit it.
Actually, my favorite cleric frequently refers to himself as a servant but he’s also one of the best players I know. Honestly, every classo has a different playstyle. I have a character that practically requires a group to use, and he’s one of my favorite. Not surprizingly, he almost always starts a group when he comes on. Clerics are his favorite people.
Clerics are really floopy amazingly together guys. With the changes to undead and supplicants, they’re getting a very raw deal lately. Here’s what I don’t get though…
Undead visage. Spell clearly works. How hard is it to use a similar method to makes healing spells damaging to undead types? Instead of using silly flags to identify undeads that can be harmed, why not just mimic undead visage. You could use the silly flags to identify mobs that can’t be hurt by heals. Let them rip and tear against undeads.
If you really wanted to boost primes, you could do all kinds of fun stuff. Holy symbols, holy water, blessing weapons. It’s pretty well established that clerics don’t like undeads, demons and the like, go nuts with it. With all the new undead areas, it would fit right in. Hardest thing you might have to do is add an actual cemetary type area to Valk. Easy stuff.
Stray thought… In Final Fantasy, the most insanely powerful attack in the game is Raise Dead. Toss it at an undead and about half it’s hps vanish. Would be a cool opening move for cleric types against undeads.
13:go buy another character sind..occupy yourself while the smart people are busy talking.
lol
yeah, there are already mobs which will be dealt damage if you heal it such as Ygol, but its way to big to “heal” it down :(
GO CLERICS!!! GO!!!
 KA KAW!
12345,
Using Raise Dead to bring a mob to 1/2 hp would be PIMP. However cause
of Sloth the size of the group killing something that big would be tooooo
powerful. There are some other “healing” mobs that goes down, but it
takes way toooo long. If they can get the balance it would be good.
Let me get this straight… stabbing a mob and instantly killing it for a couple mil xp is ok, but knocking an undead down to half is too powerful? Come on, you’re prime char is a thief.
Heal costs a lot more mana than any blasting spell and could only blast an undead for 100 hps +healbonus. At least with a lead in attack, you’re getting somewhere.
Look at it this way: Warrior = chop, Thief = splork, Mage = ether, Cleric = undead
Let them do what they’re good at.
war=chop,ma=ether etc
ok what are druid and necro?
and bard? :)
go play ur single classed slothmud and keep posting your ideas/
Druid necro and monk are pretty much the best choppers in the game, or hadn’t you noticed? I don’t know what bards are but I do know they’ll supercharge an xp group quick.
here’s my ‘good friends’ raise eq.
if the raise number is harder to hit now… thats good.
because under the old system it seemed i could be doing a raise in this junk and have no worries at all… do you really think the guy wearing this stuff should be able to raise you? these are not the hands that pick you up and put you back together. holding the firewater!
soloing for me is now only about fear and desire. unless i ‘press my luck’, i cannot be killed.
laffs at Brand for getting killed by Lyme ticket girl
Laffs at myself for dying everywhere else!
12345 had a neat suggestion, what if a cleric could bless a weapon for a tank or thief for example, and it temporarily add extra damage or proc of somekind? and then coded like atonement, you would be limited on how many times or time frame it would last?
could you imagine how cool that would be? MABLE! write that down!
autobot sed: could you imagine how cool that would be? MABLE! write that down!
Mable??? don’t you mean Fable? i thought that will was your personal whipping boy?
Ooo no Reb ur our master, who we serve and kiss the ground u walk on.
droool
Oooo crap must of been sleeping :-P
wipes drool
yeah that bit with the ticket girl was humbling, but there is a lesson in there somewhere… yeah when your light drops and you know you should leave but you firewind anyway… and then you somehow manage to live that round and you really should leave but you firewind anyway… and then you LOSE CON!… and then you really want to leave because you’re in a bloody ball at the feet of none other than THE TICKET GIRL… and then someone named autolycos remembers it and it’s like it happened all over again…
Sucks to be YOU!
haha Brand, yeah, that is pretty bad…
But no worse then a lev 20av who runs to sahaguin prince in regen gear whilst forgetting to waterbreathe ones self… nothing quite as drowning slowly, regenning most of it back each tick, that is a slow painful death to watch.
hehe
I think I did that once when I had Link … as a nc/nc my hp regen was alot.
However I think drowning damage has been increased over the yrs.
Ill certainly look forward to sloth 4 cause ill quit altogether :D
However it will be nice if clerics could get animate dead spell back, i mean they are attuned to death with raise dead, why not animate dead. Sure clerics wont get undead eq but it will greatly help them :P
animate dead corpse zombie
A zombie of Chainer is limping aroud
Cleric is a decent class if you realize what clerics are for. They’re not solo, they’re group based. They’re healers, and undead killers. Darkmace not only is a weapon that damages undead, but it is a sanc buster AND it gives Rawr +3 mana regen at this present time, which I love. I can’t count the times when my aerial servant saved me from death only by 1 or 2 hit points in both a group or while running to an area.
I haven’t taken much time popping +heal equip, what is max +90 for healing cap- not sure, but I can’t wait to have that in a group along with my regen. Rawr is going to be an amazing healer someday, and that’s good enough for me.
So what if other classes are better solo, I have the abilities I want and that’s good enough for me.

MWAHAHAHAHHAHHHAAHAHHAHA (c)Enea
exactly.
Disappointing statement, especially considering how far away it is from it’s background.
MUD difers from the original game in a couple key aspects. First, a cleric should be able to wear almost every kind of armor that a warrior can. Second, a cleric should have almost as many hps as a warrior. Neither of these is true in mud.
Their blunted weapons are typically weaker, but don’t suffer penalties against undead, making them almost 2x as effective as other classes against undead. Not to mention their spells.
If clerics were closer to their roots, they would be perfectly capable as a solo class.
yes, and we could argue that white is black and black is white, and all get killed at the next zebra crossing … (c) Douglas Adams
Fundamentally altering a class creates balance issues. A balance issue was raised. Not surprisingly, it can be addressed by referring to the original template for the class. This would also do nothing to hurt the role of cleric’s in groups.
I’m not trying to be trivial about this. They’ve done numerous things to bring clerics more towards ‘reality’, like eliminating undeads, but for the most part continue to ignore its origin, which worked perfectly well and could be made to work in Sloth quite easily.

Or instead, to ensure that clerics get treated fairly in groups, we could add the spell:
[b:1zp4hswn]Mosaix’ Revocation[/b:1zp4hswn]
Level: Cleric 10
Target: character in world
This spell undoes all the healing that this cleric has performed on the target in the last hour. (Note: this usually results in the target’s death).
