Hrm, thats a strange thought. I was grouping with Al and Keirin every day before he got booted. I bugged Clink constantly afterward and was the first person to ask for an explanation on the crier. I also still talk to him on MSN and look forward to his coming back.

Also Brad is one of the first people I started hanging out with here and one of the people I know and like the best.

I just found it amusing that there’s a newb with your clan name and I like antagonizing Aaron because he’s an elitist jackass who enjoys antagonizing everyone else. It doesn’t mean I don’t like him though (strangely enough).

It’s hardly a DS conspiracy. It was just me and Elsie (who’s not in DS btw) having a laff over the fact that some newb named himself DOW.

It’s funny that Krok, Medios, and 13 are so quick to come to blows on the crier. Medios is gonna break his foot off in my ass. 13 and Krok call me a newb. had no idea any of this was going on…sounds pretty lame and childish to me and would hope no one takes offense on any ‘side’ or whatever the hell you wanna call it. DoW and Pirates even have always rocked in my view, some of the most helpful on the game and run some badass groups along with DS. I’d rather be mudding and enjoying everybody’s company than flaming. hmmm not for the first time my names been brought into a thread on here without my knowledge and I seem to now be in the middle of some stuff I didn’t ask for.

I know myself and I know from previous experience I’m probably going to say stuff on here that on reflection will probably be a mistake and is going to get me flamed … oh well … it’d probably be better to say nothing and let it die down … but then thats not me so here goes:

To set the record straight:

I am not a member of DS DOW or any other clan, I am open to offers and would love to join a clan, the people I know best on Sloth are mostly DS but I have to affiliation to that or any clan. I would be mortified if I thought anything I did caused problems for DS.

I have no vendetta against DOW (or any clan) nor against any member of DOW (or any other player), I am not trying to piss anyone off or annoy anyone. There are players here I don’t like, but I’ll carry on in my own way of ignoring them, not joining their groups but still rushing to raise or CR for them if I’m in a position to do so.

I have helped a newbie by the name of DoW out considerably both in terms of equipment, gold, corpses to get his first juju and probably most importantly with advice.

I have introduced him to some of what I consider the best / most helpful players on here and wish him all the best.

Further I have suggested to a small number of players that they may wish to give him a hand.

My reason for doing this, apart from my good nature (I’ve done this to a lesser extent for many new players), is that he was getting hassled by as I understand it 3 members of DoW who took offence at his name or wanted to buy his char.

I told him not to make a quick decision and gave him eq and gold worth at least 3 times the best offer he’d had, which was a paltry offer at best, I also suggested he get in touch with the clan leader (sorry I’ve no idea who that is) and explain his name choice and see if there was likely to be ongoing problems and try to come to some arrangement if need be.

To be completely frank I will admit that I find the fact that he’s running around with the name Dow and there are clan members with his name in their title funny, personally I find that hilarious, but then I’m warped.

To make this clear I wasn’t making fun of anyone, I wasn’t making anything, I haven’t teased anyone, I haven’t slighted anyone I haven’t told Dow to make a nuisance of himself or parade in front of DoW clan members showing off his name, but I did find the situation funny, I still do and why not? it is after all funny in the same way that people mistake me for Elseh and send me tells in russian. Its not a slight on anyone … if you want to pay DoW for his char thats between you and him, if I want to give him some equipment thats between me and him, if you get upset at this or my previous post then I’d suggest you get off your high horse and stop taking yourself or this situation so seriously, relax a little, chill out and calm down.

I didn’t start any of this, I got dragged in half way through and tried to explain honestly and fully my involvement from start to what I hoped would be the end.

And before you complain, yes I am now making a little bit of fun of you but only because of Osas tirade against me.

Well I never knew of any harassment. Lis come to me one day and asked If I knew about said char. I had no idea and figured it was another clan starting a joke. Catherine (Dow) sent me some tells one day asking why she was so popular in titles. I explained about Dogs of War and told her I would happily help with another char and gold to remove any confusion that might occur. She told me she had rolled good stats and wanted to keep them so I was fine with it and didnt think anymore about it. Everyone on Sloth should know that regardless of our ‘jackass elitist’ attitude we still do more than our fair share to help others. I never thought Rub didnt like Al, and I know him and Aaron like to talk smack. I just honestly don’t understand why anyone would want to piss us off. I know Catherine likes to ask alot of simple questions on gossip due to being so new. I guess this might be funny to some since I guess they think its associated with our clan. Seriously we already have Brad if you wanna make jokes. :P

As far as this thread goes, it’s all just rediculous, and whether Dow is a true newbie or not doesn’t make a difference to me. You can’t stop people from playing a char name that isn’t taken. And if Dow is a true newbie, well then I wish him/her the best of luck playing Sloth because this place is very fun to play at… hey, I wouldn’t stay here 15 years if it wasn’t.

Smile. Ok guys it’s too close to Christmas for this. :P Anyway my opinion is that Dow is a new player, who was pulled into this. I have seen this player asking too many “real” new player questions of us in groups and in person.

Anyway my opinion is that names that contain clan’s icons can not be used just like in titles during character creation. As a mud evolves then that is when the immortals get to change, fix and sometimes mess things up grin as situations arise.

Everyone needs to chill and Dogs of War folks why not get to know this person and invite he or her into your clan if able. (just a suggestion).

Again I do think this is a new player and lets avoid dragging new players into messes like this, so they continue to be able to enjoy Sloth as some of us also do.

I also want to say that as a Clan Member of Dragonsworn this was not a clan situation and I think that Rub was just having some harmless fun, while Elsie was honestly helping out the new player. Great Equipment by the way.

What ever we do let’s insure that new players continue to enjoy Sloth.

When we start losing new players because we have people here that childish children it just pisses me off. Dow has decided to quit today because of all the crap that has happened. Wow, haven’t been on in a while, I found this thread amusing until I got to shyla’s post, I had hoped that the newbie hadn’t found the crier yet and wasn’t hearing about it in game:( I gotta say it straight……… I’m relatively new, only about 2 1/2 years under my belt, and the reason I haven’t been on is because of stuff like this. On several occasions have had higher ups be confrontational towards me in my newb char… and call me a wuss but it ruins my fun:( I love sloth, but I think I’m leaning on taking another break from it, not because of the game, but because of the lack of cohesion of the player base, the overall attitude of the mud, I’ve been here forever and u can’t run this area because my newb needs the xp..etc

I have a lot of respect for most of the players here, I will still be on to play (am a clannie on another mud and moving up levs) but don’t think I can call this my home right now, once u sloth..blah blah blah

Resouh dont sweat the small stuff. If you read past Shyla’s post youll realize its not a newbie and everyone can draw conclusions from there. Everyone on sloth gets along well for a npk mud. Complaining over areas is really silly in my mind. If you have to rely on 1-2 areas to play then you need to think of your overall sloth experience and mix it up. There are alot of thing to do on sloth other than run xp. I can log Medios on with 4 other Avatar thiefs in game and still have stuff that I need to kill regardless of who is runnin what.

DoW and Dragonsworn havent even started fighting and people are already weak in the knees. Whats up with that?

Overall I see clans cooperating and doing alot more to help lower level players on sloth.
