Botting is breaking the rules…

Robotting is the act of setting up your MUD client to run the character on

its own. Playing a ‘robot’ character is forbidden, and will be punished.

If you are observed killing and are not at the keyboard to answer an

You ARE NOT allowed to program your MUD client to allow your buddy

to have full control over your character. (this also means a leader)[/color:r60d36dz]

Allowing the leader to set your targets, and “all up” triggers are fine.

Cleric Bots are illegal if you are away from keyboard. You will be

considered a robot [u:r60d36dz]even if your actions are not benefiting yourself. [/u:r60d36dz][/color:r60d36dz]

You MAY create actions/triggers that perform otherwise repetitive actions

during and between fights. E.g. circling, eating and drinking.

If you need to AFK to get a drink or answer the phone, that is one thing,

being AFK in a group for 10-15 minutes while still â€œmagically entering

portals and blinding Mobsâ€, WILL NOT be tolerated.[/color:r60d36dz] If your leader believes

you are botting, good chances you are!!!

Regarding group LEADERS…..

At one point in the past leaders were subject to punishment if they

intentionally drug around a player (or players) who botted. Does this

have to be enforced again? Botters slow a group down, steal experience

from players who are at the keyboard, and break the rules.

If a person has not told you (or grouptelled) that they would be afk for

a short period of time OR a group member is not responding within a

reasonable amount of time, recall them! [/color:r60d36dz]

Regarding group MEMBERS…..

All botters are breaking RULE 4. Do not think that your scripts are so

perfect to where you won’t get caught botting. The better the scripts,

the harder to be found out, and the harsher the punsishment in the end.[/color:r60d36dz]

Regarding IMMs….

Imms will be watching for bptters, sending tells, using says, and using

other means to enforce this rule. Punishment will enforced.

BTW, is having a script set up like tell me iron, or tell me aegis… are they considered botting scripts? or only if your afk?

If I set at recall, and people are “abusing” my scripts… whats the rule there?

Essentially, you can have fancy scripts that do the work for you, but you must be at the keyboard and able to answer questions, take over from your scripts etc. Iron triggers etc are fine. Sitting at recall, while a bit spammy for everyone else, is fine, although sitting at recall so that people can use your triggers to heal up, iron up etc would probably be frowned upon.

Marge runs largely automated in groups, so I consider myself a bot and I like to joke about it openly. But I’m always sitting there watching the pretty text go by. I recently joked in a group with Seda in it that if your scripts are good enuff you won’t get caught. I apologize if I’ve condoned botting. I don’t support botting while afk. Be careful because admin has been known to make harsh examples of people. (Remember the guy who got wiped while running his kids out to the bus?)

the rules serve one and only purpose - to prevent anybody to say that there’s NO rules at all

Imms choose by themselves when to apply rules or no deciding dependant on their mood state atm and personal preferences

fair enough, I don’t hide behind alts or aliases on crier that don’t relate to my chars names, judge me by my actions and I’ll be happy.

Grouped with two to six, and sometimes many more.

Running through some areas, to then approach a door,

It wasnâ€™t such a normal door, a key just wouldnâ€™t do.

You had to type the keywords in order to get through.

When on the other side, and ready to go kill,

The leader group tells XXX, â€œpush doorâ€œ, if you will.

We wait and wait and wait some more, XXX does not respond,

And this was not the first time that this player was so gone.

About an hour later, XXX sees heâ€™s alone.

Could it be that XXX was really on the phone?

The reason for his afk was so hard to believe

He group telled the same words each time…

Here’s my 2 cents on botting.

I can’t stand botters, and recall them on sight.

However, the ppl who have been whinning about botters (not pointing at Seda) have usually been the ones most nonchalant about it when I point out to them so-and-so are botting in their groups. They usually say “so?” or tell me to shut up.

So please, do not take the thou-art-holier attitude. You all know you welcome botters if they help u kill bigger mobs in your group.

So now that Madmax has looted 2 of my personal cps should I glock my groups? I realize regardless of what I do someone will say I am unfair. So here is the predicament. Leaders cannot enforce certain rules in a group. It is really impossible. Then you have these big mobs that you muster the whole game for and somebody loots for you. So from now on if you loot some personal cp that is not yours I will personally junk it every time. If you refuse to give me the cp, I will lose some levels after I piasa, shock, loot, and junk the item. I haven’t ran eternal flame for quite some time because I don’t play Sloth to get mad. I play to have fun. If you can’t control your triggers or botting I will take it to the next level. I honestly don’t care.

I left because I felt the whole ordeal was a mess, and I had a horrible headache and had only gotten less than 4 hours sleep. I was in no shape to group for something like that and that is why I left.

As for botting and bad scripts… Avatars should know better. I appreciate a nice person and friend who likes to help out but there has to be a line drawn somewhere. The immortals have stated it loud and clear, you are responsible for your client. You are the one who should go out and test it on solo mobs. You are the one who should pay the concenquences for screwing up.

Now on the other hand, there really could be some leader commands set up to prevent unwanted looting of personal items. I realize that imms might not want too much control over groups, but this isn’t a pkill mud. We can’t punish people except for not allowing them in groups, and that is pretty mean since there aren’t that many good groups to choose from.

I would like to see leader “corpse guard”. The corpse would be noloot until leader gave command for someone else to loot. Items that have just fallen off of astral mobs could not be picked up for at least 3 ticks unless leader gave the command. I think this would help a lot vs big group looting of personal items. Unless someone has a better idea…

Can just add a proc to room that prevents anyone from executing the ‘get all’ command. From floor or corpse. I think that would suffice, cuz then someone would have to type get objname intentionally.

That works… but maybe a better idea is for group leaders to be able to set autoloot off for people in groups? Say for example… there are a bunch of dead corpses in a room with an aggro… the get all command is useful in that case… it could be bad to block it to get round an autoloot problem. Better to treat the cause instead of the symptom.

I think the game’s autoloot function is only half the problem, the other half being that people have looters built into their script that they’re not turning off.

Problem scenarios

Waiting to 2-3 ticks before u can get item? too long and some items poof within 10-20 secs of not looting.

Also making a bar against get all command..some items are so obscure you would be unable to pick up without a get all command.

Only solution I can see if immediate dis-membering of offender and next time leader forms a group he will know. Usually repeat offenders stay on a perm shit list and will in the long run regret said looting.

Sometimes mistakes happen, but as Bush says, fool me once, shame on you, fool me again and ..and ..you can’t get fooled again ..or something ..err ..THROW THE HEATHEN SCUM TO DEMOGORGON!
