This is a late reply to the Splork’s request for MSDP ideas.
I was thinking NPC in room, maybe just two or three keywords per mob and maybe the number of that mob. Something like “male-kobold”,2,“kobold-youth”,1,“female-kobold”,3.
Also someone earlier jokingly suggested weather, but weather is helpful because it tells you whether you are indoors or not.

MSDPCOORD1-25 tells you whether a mob with in a 5x5 grid around you. Doesn’t list the short names though. Just a 1 for mob a 0 for not.
Though I do agree it would be very helpful to list the current room contents, mobs included. I’ve seen this implemented in other muds and it is an invaluable tool.
I know it’s a ways off yet, but I can envision a day when we’re trading player-generated images of mobs to plug into our clients.
I am actually out of town for a bit but will look into this when I get home. Maybe something which gives npc name and species and something else which does room contents? Ill talk to Akaya and see what the other game does which works out nicely.
