In my raise gear I have Wis 22 (which is the max I can have at 4x40)
and AFF_SYSTEM_SHOCK = 14.
I have made a Champagne Pearl rune but have not socketed it to
anything yet.
I could socket the rune to my raise gear bracelet, bringing
AFF_SYSTEM_SHOCK to 15, or I could socket the rune to my heal bonus
bracelet, keeping AFF_SYSTEM_SHOCK at 14 but requiring me to cart
around one less piece of equipment.
Is there a cap to AFF_SYSTEM_SHOCK and if so how does it work?
i.e. is there any marginal benefit of increasing AFF_SYSTEM_SHOCK to 15?
Yes marginal. That’s the key word. Socketing it to your healbonus gear makes sense to me because the less gear of one type you lug around is the more gear of a different type you can lug around such as if you wanted a spelldam set or undead control set. Another benefit is that by wearing your sys-shock in heal mode, you get a bonus to being raised if you should get whacked while healing.
If your absolute concern is the number of lives saved, then begin a public awareness campaign on the virtues of +con gear and maximize your sys-shock. Otherwise be willing to sacrifice a few souls around the margins for your own benefit and let the poor suckers work on getting their constitution up for their own sake.
